Hello Beautiful Friends. With today’s topic, most people have a take it or leave it attitude. It’s possible that many of us have lived through it, dealt with removing it and our hair is still limp from the hours it took with a stupid steamer that really didn’t work. But in 2021 we have much better and prettier options. So let’s talk Wow Me On The Weekend With Wallpaper, shall we?!
Wow Me On The Weekend With Wallpaper!
I know, you may be thinking that wallpaper is out or people are dumb and need to move on but I’m here to tell you wallpaper is still in and I love it! So if you want to take a stab at it (metaphorically, lol), try it again in small doses or go all out, here are some fantastic ideas.

This is a gorgeous room with a wow factor for sure. This embossed wallpaper by Lincrusta is paintable and I’m thinking pretty expensive. To keep costs down, try one accent wall behind a bed like they did here. It’s a lot to look at but if you’re into spending money on a piece of art, you can kill two birds with one stone. Somehow that doesn’t sound good but you get my idea, right? If you want to do an entire wall, choose a spot where you want to make an impact but maybe not add all the extra (like family photos or sconces, etc.). This would look great in a hallway or in a powder bath. I like the idea of using it in a feminine office too.

This patterned paper is a great way to make a statement that everyone will enjoy. It’s so happy! Even on gloomy days these little circle/flower thingy’s would put a smile on my face. Where the wallpaper is located makes the ceiling and all the millwork stand out. It’s not a lot of commitment here but definitely a declaration.

Have you ever thought about putting wallpaper or peel and stick paper on your stair risers?! I have seen this idea for years and it doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. But guess what?! If it only lasts a few more years, you can just peel it right off and go back to whatever was there in the first place. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! The decals come in so many styles and colors, it will be hard to choose!

Still having commitment issues? How about trying a wallpaper on the back of a small shelf? Even close up I don’t think anyone would know this wasn’t the real deal. The paper has great dimension. Ooo, how about using this as a kitchen backsplash?! Wouldn’t that be pretty? I’m seriously thinking about doing something like this in my kitchen. Ours is 20 years old and I’ve never ever ever liked it. With kids in college and for a person who likes change, I think this is a great temporary alternative!

Check this out! Yes, this would take a bit of boldness but you can customize your own 3D wallpaper design and put it on the ceiling (or walls) which means the possibilities are endless. Companies also make wall murals too. Have a favorite place you’ve visited? Put your vacation photo on the entire wall. Ever wanted to live in a jungle? Do it! Want to surround yourself in a library? Add wallpaper that looks like shelves of historical books. I’ve seen wallpaper that looks handmade. Like you stenciled or did the artwork yourself. Amazing.
Other wallpaper places or ideas:
- Pantry shelves – Pantries can look busy so I’d choose a calm, neutral pattern. But if color is what you desire, go for it.
- Closet – Try a paper with encouraging words or a favorite verse to get your day started off on a positive note.
- Half or Guest Bathroom – In here you can be bold. So if you want to have wallpaper but not see it all the time, this is it.
- Kids Room – What if your teen or child wanted to make their own decor? Try a solid peel-n-stick paper for your little Picasso or goodness me, people make paint by number wallpaper! Just google it!.
This Wow Me On The Weekend With Wallpaper chat has been enlightening hasn’t it? If there’s a place you want to add wallpaper, someone makes it. If you are still a little shy about it or just plan to dig your heels in and say no, I get it. I’ve thought the same thing. But you know what? I’m going to give it a whirl.
Hi Cindy,
I love the wallpaper inspiration! It’s been on my mind too! I think you should go for it on the stair risers. Love it! laura

Thanks Laura. The stairs is my biggest fear. When you come in the front door, that’s exactly what is staring you in the face. I’ll need to do a little bit more mulling. ๐
Hahaha, Iโve really been wanting to try this and you may have just pushed me over the edge! It takes me a year to make decision on anything, but if I ever actually do it, Iโll send you pictures.

Oh yes please send pictures! I want to get some of the peel and stick just to see the transformation. Hope you go for it!
I LOVED this bedroom, so went to your link. Once I was there, I couldn’t find the wallpaper that was shown, but I thought it might be under the heading “tapestry”. Once there, all of the images were the same color, and although I kept going back and forth between the bedroom photo and the images on the website I STILL wasn’t sure which wallpaper it was. So, I gave up and looked at them all under that heading. There were SO MANY gorgeous options, but the one that caught my eyes was one that had little birds on it–they made me think of the “bluebird of happiness”. I clicked on that choice and lo and behold–it was the paper shown in the bedroom photo!
And you’re right: it’s expensive (I’ve always had “champagne taste on a beer budget” as my mom used to say). I Googled the conversion rate between the pound and the American dollar, and the paper is $305.36 a roll! But BOY is it ever gorgeous!

I’m sorry you had trouble. If you click on the link under the photo, it takes you straight to the actual pink paper and not the main website like the link to the manufacturer. At least you got to see more phenomenal choices. ๐ And I totally agree… I loved this bedroom too. So romantic yet casual and elegant plus feminine all rolled into one masterpiece! You and I both will have to save our pennies for a roll!
I love wallpaper and I found that using warm water and vinegar is the trick to pulling it off. I had it in kitchen, entry, and a wall in my bedroom and got rid of it, now thinking I’d like it in my bathroom. I just haven’t found what I want yet. Thanks Cindy these are all so pretty.

Now I haven’t actually tried the water with vinegar thing but I cannot stand vinegar. Not even sure how people stand cleaning with it. I went to a ladies luncheon once at a friends house and she had cleaned her glass table with it. Oh my, I couldn’t even enjoy lunch for the odor. But I have a very sensitive nose. Anyway, I say keep looking online for paper Marlene. I bet you’ll find a beauty!
So many great ideas here. I have to tell you, I never thought I would see wallpaper make a comeback, but I’m really loving it! Thanks for the inspiration.

LOL – When wallpaper went “out”, I was kinda sad. What does that say about me? ๐ Thanks Kim
I love the look of wallpaper! I would like to add some to my dining room and my bedroom.

I know you do Paula. I remember the great wallpaper you put in your basement. I think going down the stairs? I’m all for adding wallpaper but the Mister not so much.
the blue tile peel peel and stick wall paper is wonderful i have used it in my vintage 1960 mobile home as i use for a she shed used it on the counter tops wears very good with not to much use. i also used a brick look peel and stick for a back splash it is textured and realy looks like the real thing let is only about $30.00 a roll and goes a long way

Wow Nancy! Thanks for the review! I’m really looking forward to trying it. I’d like to cover the backsplash in Navasota since it’s just smooth white formica.
Well, consider me wowed. Everyone of those pictures wowed me, especially the mural on the ceiling. I was kind of hoping that pink and white behind your banner today might have been a sample wallpaper. Just another great blog.

Thank you. I loved each one too. So many great ideas!

You crack me up. I LOVED the wallpaper in the guest bath at your last house. Very striking and bold but classy! Can hardly wait to see what you do next! In the meantime, feel free to come help me install it somewhere! ๐
Great inspiration! I’m currently having a beautiful Lily & Serena wallpaper installed on the ceiling in our little piano room. (I usually hang wallpaper myself, but not on the ceiling.) After spending years stripping wallpaper, I was hesitant to embrace it again, but I can’t help myself! Your examples are lovely!

Oh my goodness I bet that is going to be gorgeous! And what a perfect place to do it. I hope you put that on your blog. I’d love to see it. ๐
Wow, a lot of ideas I’ve never thought of! I like the idea on the stairs, I’m looking to redo ours and will have to keep this in mind!

I like that idea too Cheryl. What I like most is the amount of commitment. If I get tired of it, I’ll just peel it right off! ๐
