Howdy! It’s the 10th of the month which means it’s time for Ten on the Tenth! Time for ideas and inspiration that cost less than $10 dollars. We are hosted by sweet Barbara at French Ethereal and this month’s theme is… wait for it… can you guess…? It’s Easter! Surprise!
I’m going to confess, this isn’t remotely new, unique or rocket science. Nothing I do is. But this is easy and I do love how it turned out.
You might even say – What? That isn’t a real chocolate bunny? ๐
Usually I keep a small vignette on our kitchen island for dessert plates. And for a while now, I’ve been searching for a chocolate bunny that isn’t made of real chocolate. Reason being, a real chocolate bunny wouldn’t last in an Easter vignette around my house. One day I might walk by and the tail would be gone. Another day I’d walk by and an ear bitten off. Not sure why the kids usually bit the butt off first but they did. LOL – kids.
Are any of the chocolate bunnies at the store real chocolate? Hmmm. I suppose I could visit a mall, stand in line with terrified screaming toddlers and ask the Easter Bunny? Um, no thanks. I’m fine with eating the fake stuff anyway. Especially the white chocolate. Yum!
During my hunt for the perfect chocolate bunny, I came across a plastic metallic gold bunny. It wasn’t ugly. Just not what I wanted. Actually, if this sucker were the prize for finding the golden egg, I might have to push a few kids out of the way while I put that egg in my own basket.
Since the price was nice ($4.99) and the paint a bargain (.79 cents), I couldn’t resist making my own. The paint was called Coffee Bean and it took 3 coats. What do you think? Doesn’t it look real and scrumptious and delicate all at the same time? I added left over ribbon and hot glued on a couple of flowers so she’d look girly. So cute!
There you have it friends. A super easy craft idea for Easter that won’t get eaten in three days. LOL, who am I kidding? It would be gone in fifteen minutes.
Now it’s time to visit my bloggy friends for more Easter inspiration.
Just click on the names below. Next up on the list is Susan over at Homeroad. Enjoy!

I love chocolate!! This rabbit is adorable! Great project!
Author
Thanks bunches Susan!
Super cute, Cindy!!! Your chocolate bunny looks amazingly real! Yeah, I’d have those ears eaten off pretty quickly, too… ๐ Really great idea!
Happy 10 on the 10th,
Hugs,

My husband said he wondered if we’d see teeth marks on that bunny one day. LOL! Thanks for hosting Barbara!
Cindy you are too funny! Don’t feel bad, a real chocolate bunny wouldn’t last long here either. You are so cleaver. I love that bunny and so glad you posted this project. I bought a small chocolate bunny a few years ago and someone scratched his eye off “to see if it was real”. Now that side of the bunny faces the wall! Can’t believe I didn’t think of painting it… (I’m head slapping right now…) THANK YOU!
Author
That’s hilarious Tammy! Poor bunny. Sounds like he needs an eye job. Glad you were inspired!
What a cute vignette and a great idea – hope no one tries to take a bite!! But I did spy a canister of chocolate bites!! Happy Easter!
Author
Thank you Patti! Those were chocolate covered almonds in the jar. Let’s hope they go for those first!
This is darling and worth having around for more than 5 minutes. I need to try this.
Author
Thank you Katie. I plan to pack him up carefully so I can have him around for years.
Your chocolate bunny does look real enough to eat! I love the idea you’ve come up with – setting him on a stack of dessert plates in an Easter vignette. How clever! Love the little bow and silk flowers. The whole thing is so cute and you deserve a real chocolate bunny for coming up with this idea! Happy Easter!
Author
Well thanks Barbara, I’ll go get myself a real chocolate bunny and pat my self on the back. Hahahaha!
Cindy, this is just too cute! And yes, that bunny looks like real chocolate!! If it were real, it wouldn’t last long around our house either! Regardless of how quick and easy these projects are, the result is all the same…something fabulous and inexpensive! I love it! BTW, what color was the paint and how many coats did you have to use to cover? Hugs!
Author
Oops! I totally forgot to put that info in! I’ve fixed it but the paint color was Coffee Bean and it took 3 coats. Thanks for stopping by Benita!
So simple and I love it. Don’t have human kids and my pups don’t eat chocolate. I do however have a large 57 year old child. He eats chocolate so fast your head would spin.
Super idea and her touch of a ribbon necklace is pretty

I think we could be married to brothers. LOL. But chocolate has been a fantastic invention. Fixes a lot of issues. ๐
What a darling display! If I didn’t know it was faux I would fo sho take a bite. Ears first. LOL
Author
Say whaaaaaa? You don’t want a bit of the butt first? Hahahahahhaha.
Simply gorgeous! I want to make make some chocolate bunnies, but they will make me hungry! You are also making me love pink and more and more!!!
I am going to send this link to Larissa, Welch House 1900, she collects the chocolate bunnies, so she might want to make some too.
Beautiful post!
Author
I just found that out about Larissa recently. She has a beautiful style. Happy to know you were inspired to make some. But yes, I recommend having real chocolate on the table while painting. ๐
So cute and so is her neckwear, she looks ready for Easter. I know she isn’t real, you showed me but, she looks so creamy chocolatey that i still want to see, just one little nibble!!
Author
LOL Marlene. I think she’s pretty darn cute too. But no nibbles. Won’t taste good. Might even crack a tooth! Ha!
Chocolate bunnies don’t last around here either, Cindy, but yours looks very real. I hope no one breaks a tooth! LOL
Author
That’s funny. I just told Marlene no nibbles because she might break a tooth. Glad you like it Ann!
So cute. Makes me want some chocolate right now!
Author
I know what you mean. That’s exactly why I added the chocolate covered almonds next to it! Glad you visited today Melinda!
I love how this turned out! I need to make one for myself!
Author
Do it Jennifer! It was so easy and everyone loves it!

And here I thought I was being original. Just kidding. Glad you like it Julie. Hope you make one next year.
Love your bunny. I have a cheapy ceramic one sitting in my dish drainer waiting for me to get to him! Great idea!
Author
Thank you Kathy. I got several questions about that bunny. Everyone thought it was real chocolate. Hope you can get around to your ceramic bunny soon! ๐
I love it in all of its faux chocolateness!
