Hey Friends! November is here so for many of us that means it’s time to drag out the Christmas bins! I know, it’s not even Thanksgiving which is a cherished holiday, but I promise, the outside of my house still reflects fall goodness. But as a blogger, I want you to be ready if you are interested in the top 3 Christmas tree decor ideas and what’s trending in 2022. Y’all know I don’t follow the trends but it’s still fun to know what they are, right?
The Top 3 Christmas Tree Decor Ideas and What’s Trending in 2022
Last year I was overwhelmed with being busy and went all-natural for the most part. Not natural as in real trees with falling needles. I mean I didn’t add ornamentation. And guess what?! I was being all trendy and didn’t even know it! Then after a week, I couldn’t stand it and my flocked tree sitting in the entry got the rustic glam vintage inspired treatment. LOL, I know, what a combo! Not sure what I’ll do this year but this post will help!
Christmas Tree trend idea one
The first popular trend this year will be the “new neutral” in gold, silver and white. It focuses on elegance and gracefulness. Notice the one above has extra large ornaments and extra wide layered ribbon. A great way to go if you want a professional looking glamorous appearance. I think Just Destiny did a fantastic job creating her tree.
Christmas Tree trend idea two
At the top of the list of trends for 2022 is going to be the nature inspired trees. These can be minimalistic or natural like my King of Christmas trees last year in the above photo. For people who love lots of decor, the all-green tree is pretty too. Having a conscious use of materials goes along with the natural trend. Fruit, pinecones and branches come to mind or using repurposed materials like old spindles or finding a piece at a thrift store to make into an ornament.
This one is still considered natural because of the all-over green decor on it. Think grass and leaves. To get this look, use green ribbon, green ornaments and green stems. I’ve never thought to do this but I can see the appeal.

And last but not least, those who love to fill your trees with sentimental decor like hand crafted ornaments or items that emphasize a closeness to places you hold dear are totally on trend this year! So to all the moms that can’t imagine not putting little Jimmy’s handprint reindeer ornament on the tree, take a bow. You’re in!
Well those are the top 3 Christmas tree decor ideas and what’s trending in 2022 but remember, these trends are just to keep you informed. If you prefer a traditional red and green tree, do it! If you love the well-traveled cram-packed tree, keep it! I’m sure I’ll have at least one of our trees decorated with my beloved teacups and silverware because I say personality matters and doing what we love is always best.

So many great ideas. Thanks, friend. Hugs to you.

It’s nice to see that what’s trending isn’t all the same thing we’ve seen for years.
Trending, huh!! I have never heard of that for Christmas trees, but whatever!! At least this year I will be trending, I always put decorations from handmade to old from my parents Christmas tree. I have decorations from my sons and grandkids, which is a joy to dig out every year. Makes my Christmas tree so much sweeter when I dig them out. Thanks Cindy for all you post for me to enjoy!!

Woohoo – Marlene’s wonderful, sentimental tree will be trending! I love hearing that. I wish I had saved more of what my kids made. Makes me sad now. Maybe I can get them to start making some now?! Fingers crossed.
What a great post Cindy! I love all of your ideas. I have a really fun natural tree I am doing this year. I can’t wait to see what you come up with for your tree.

Thank you Wendy. Not sure I’ll do anything to the trees this year. I was going to go “classic Christmas” with red and green but oh my golly, I love a bare natural tree. Especially the King of Christmas trees!
Great post, Cindy! We usually have two or three trees and our main tree is the sentimental one. I love looking at the meaningful ornaments from year to year!

Thank you Shelley. I had no idea tree decor was trendy! That’s crazy to me.
Why is space always such a scarce commodity at my house? I just have a small tree with minimal decoration. Over the years I’ve realized that’s easiest for me since I’m the only one doing it. I just love the pretty lights in the evening. Gorgeous trees, I love it all!

I have become the only one doing ours too. I even make remarks like “I sure wish I had help from my wonderful (sometimes crappy, depending on the day) family” but for some reason that doesn’t motivate them. They tell me it’s because no matter what they do or where they hang an ornament, I’m going to move it anyway. Not true! Mostly. ๐
I love the silverware on your tree! May I ask how you hung them? Thanks! I love your blog๐

Thank you so much Linda. Most of the silverware are just curved/bent on one end. Use a metal pole and some muscle. You will love seeing them on the tree. When I unpack mine every year, I get a great big smile on my face. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help.
Fun post Cindy, and it’s always fun to see what’s trending from year to year! Love your silver pieces on the tree!
