Spring cuteness on the farmhouse porch

Spread the love

Hello my wonderful friends!  Any of us in Texas already hating the 95 degree temps?  I AM!  I’ve asked myself several times why do I live in Texas when I hate the heat and humidity?  Haven’t come up with a good answer yet but in order to tolerate the heat and still enjoy the porch, I added a bit of charm.  I’ve surrounded myself with spring cuteness on the farmhouse porch.

Spring Cuteness on the Farmhouse Porch

Fluffy pillows, plants, vintage bottles and chairs.  Even a very old quilt with lots of color that is obviously for pretties and not used to cover up.

The old milk can was repurposed and painted and now serves as a side table to hold my sweet tea.  You can use almost anything as a side table.  Like this old umbrella stand idea or this perfect terracotta pot idea and even this tomato cage table idea!

The other side is cozy too.  The antique birdcage stand holds a wreath, which I change out all the time.  The bird cage itself covers the lemon Girl Scout cookies from the stash in the freezer.  It’s just for looks as well because we eat the cookies so fast the flies don’t have a chance.  Ooh, I just thought of something!  I think I’ll line the birdcage with some type of mesh to make a real food cover.  How cute will that be?!  Oh, I’m all over that idea!  I better get on it.

Spring farmhouse front porch with homemade light fixture by countyroad407.com

The light fixture isn’t new.  We added it last year but what used to be there was a left over bulb from a dilapidated ceiling fan.  The Mister removed it and mounted the iron piece that is strung with C-9 bulbs.  It’s super easy to make and if you don’t want it to rust, spray it with a clear sealer.

I love this old cart.  It has two smaller wheels on the front side and even though I know it isn’t, I call it my ice cream cart.  Makes me think of my high school days when I dreamed of owning a snow cone stand.  Dad quickly squished that dream saying no, I’d eat all the profits. Ugh.  If you want flowers next to your driveway and don’t have a cart, what about a wheel barrow, or an old trunk or wagon?!  I think those would be adorable!

Adopted Mustang and Burro at the Navasota farmhouse by CountyRoad407.com

These two certainly like it when we sit out on the porch.  They know Mama always has treats!  If you’d like to see how we adopted Sherlock the Mustang, you can read that post here.  If you want to read about Scout the Burro, read that here.

And just in case you’d like to see why we like it here so much, here’s a 36 sec. video of the property.  The Mister took it with his drone.  At the very beginning over to the right you can see one of the many chandeliers hanging in the trees so look quickly!  I love those too.

Hope you’ve gotten a few fun ideas you can incorporate into your own yard from the spring cuteness on the farmhouse porch and can enjoy outdoors a little longer before it gets unbearable.  Now all I need is a wet paper towel (to wipe my glow) and a tall glass of sweat tea.  Okay, maybe an entire jug.  Oh and maybe a fan and a hose.

I always enjoy reading about the things you use for purposes other than they were originally intended. Always so cute! But I love the video of the property.

So pretty! I really wish I had a front porch to sit and enjoy my morning tea or an evening sweet tea… I love how pretty and peaceful your porch looks. I’m like you…. I think we skipped spring and headed on into summer here in Texas! I’m way past glowing.

Haha. Where in TX are you? In all of my days growing up we moved a lot and I only remember one house with a front porch. Builders should get back to providing those. Maybe weโ€™d be more neighborly? Thanks for the visit. โค๏ธ

Terri those words have come straight out of my mouth before! The porch is a time waster for sure but thereโ€™s not a better way to waste it. ๐Ÿ˜‰. Thank you for visiting today!

Such a cute porch!!! I couldn’t stand the heat of Texas, although I do envy your early spring when we are still buried under mountains of snow! My white Irish skin would not do well in all that heat and sun!! Very cute ideas for decorating a porch….that light fixture is awesome!!!

Thank you Debbie. I can barely stand it in the summer. I go from the house to the car to the store and back again. Rarely am I outside. When Iโ€™m hot, Iโ€™m grouchy. Just sayin.
