It seems like today’s Pinterest Challenge is calling my name and I couldn’t be happier. It’s all about using what you already have and changing things around to fit your style and needs. So let’s get started with simple summer green and white tablescape ideas.
Simple Summer Green and White Tablescape Ideas

Have you heard of a Pinterest Challenge? My friends and I take the same photo found on Pinterest and challenge ourselves to recreate it showing how it can be done and be done inexpensively. It’s a lot of fun!
Inspiration photo from Hello Hayley
Our inspiration photo comes from Hello Hayley. Just take a good look at the photo above. It’s simple, elegant and casual all at the same time. I also see it as rustic yet contemporary. Can you see that?
To me, the simple colors of the natural wood table and woven placemats mixed with green plants and white dishes are stunning together. I can certainly see myself enjoying this scene with friends. And probably make each other laugh as we say pinkies up as we toast to a good life.
As much as I’d like to sit outdoors this season, it’s hotter than a honeymoon hotel so it’s not happening. If you see anyone enjoying the outdoors in Texas in July, they are from up north. Probably Antarctica.
Green and White Tablescape Idea #1
So for me to transform this into something that works for my home and using what I already have, here’s what I came up with. It entertained me a while since I created 4 different looks.
I love Hayley’s woven placemats but mine were rectangle and have seen better days so I decided to bring in that sort of texture by using a woven tray instead. Plus, the boxwood placemats are super cute and full of texture.
Continuing with her green and white theme, the first centerpiece idea has a cabbage vase that was thrifted on July 4th. I love that it matches my salt and pepper shakers. The English Ivy plants were brought in from other rooms around the house.
Green and White Tablescape Idea #2
If you don’t have a vase full of fresh flowers, grab any of your plants from another room. Most sizes work. Just remember to keep it low enough that it doesn’t block the beautiful faces of your family or friends.
If you don’t have white vases or pots with plants, try using bowls with candles inside, lanterns or jars will work too. And who says you can’t have candles during the day? Life is short, make everyday special.
The Ivy isn’t potted in the pitcher, I always keep small plants in their original pots. It’s easier to switch them out for different looks and it makes it easier when you have to replace a dead one. :/
Green and White Tablescape Idea #3
Keeping with Hayley’s look of natural wood (her table) and plants, I pulled out a breadboard, faux boxwood balls and some of my handmade pottery bowls. Faux plants might actually be a better idea for a centerpiece if you think dirt is gross around dinner plates.
How cute is this ceramic ice bucket? It was also thrifted on July 4th. I hit the jackpot that day and it works well with my new found cottagecore obsession. 😉
Green and White Tablescape Idea #4
This last idea and my favorite look for the Pinterest Challenge is another quick change using simple pottery with real plants and flowers. Every centerpiece idea was super easy to put together and the only thing purchased were the real flowers for the cabbage vase and the small pot in the center.
I hope you can see how these simple summer green and white tablescape ideas are fun and easily doable. You need only to break down the inspiration photo and shop your house. Will you try a Pinterest Challenge one day? I highly recommend it.

LOL! I found that at Home Goods and didn’t even look at the price until I was paying for it. Didn’t care. It was coming home with me. Thankfully it wasn’t bad. Thanks Diane.
Cindy, I love all your tablescape versions. My first favorite thing were the salt and pepper shakers. They are so cute. Then the planter with the green floral motif was lovely. I was sure that was a decoupage project. The tray in the central of the table is a winner. I loved this challenge and thank you so much for hosting.

When I saw the cabbage vase (in Granbury!) I grabbed it so fast I almost dropped it! I found the salt and pepper shakers a couple of weeks prior which started the obsession with all things cabbage. But my word, it’s expensive! Not sure I’ll ever have a full set of plates or bowls. Fingers crossed. Glad you liked the challenge. Thank you!
Cindy, your kitchen paint color is made for your tablescapes. Love the scalloped tray with greenery and your cutting board centerpieces too! Such a cute combination using the boxwood chargers with your dishes. The cabbage pieces especially the salt and pepper shakers are just adorable!!

Thank you Michelle. I still wake up every morning and love walking into my green kitchen. And I’m sure you do as well in your own beautiful new kitchen. The green has changed my entire attitude! Only bad thing about it is that now I’m obsessed with cabbage ceramics and I have no room to put anything else! lol
Cindy, you have set such pretty green & white tables I’m not sure which is my favorite! I do like the final photograph with the green berries (?) added to the vases. Lots of interesting textures! The faux boxwood placemats are really fun!! Thanks again for inviting us all to come play. 🙂

I use those boxwood placemats ALL THE TIME and were one of my favorite purchases a few years ago. Not sure what the berries are called but they are real. It’s the first time I’ve used them but it won’t be the last. Thanks so much Barbara. Stay cool friend.

Aww, thank you Lucy, you’ve made my day. I found the dishes at Home Goods and you know it’s always a hit or miss adventure shopping there. And I’ve looked on the back of the dishes but there’s no label other than hand wash only. :/ I’ll be in Navasota this weekend and I know we’ll head to Conroe for some 7 Leguas or Fajita Jacks! Do you have a fave place we should try? All we have in Navasota is La Casita which is good but the other two are just meh.

Cindy you know I am loving all your green and white! The green walls are fabulous too! Great thrifting finds for adding a little vintage cottage core. I love the fresh and faux mix of plants and how you put your simple and rustic tablescape together!
So hot here in KY that I haven’t been outside other than to go to the grocery store and thrifting (priorities) and to water my plants in the evening. It’s been 8 weeks of humid, scorching misery. At least it forced me to do some organzing indoors.

An outdoor morning breakfast sounds wonderful. The mister has done that a couple of times but he can tolerate the heat much better than myself. And we don’t have a screened in porch like you. Wish we did! Then maybe I’d give it a try because the mosquito’s love me.
I am seriously crushing on those green flowered plates-gah! Did you get them thrifting, too? Love all your ideas, but the cabbage wear theme is of course my favorite.
