Hey Sweet Friends! Our modern farmhouse dining room is complete! I can hardly believe it and I’m so excited to show you what I’ve done. Remember in this post almost 3 MONTHS AGO I showed you the inspiration for the dining room redo? I liked different things from both rooms and continued to use them as a reference as I put things together. But I wanted to put my own spin on it. Add a little modern farmhouse mixed with a bit of rustic, a little vintage here and there, and of course some older items that got a new fresh look.
Our Modern Farmhouse Dining Room
Here’s the before. Total dog-barf-o-rama gold walls.
I’m so over that hideous paint, I can’t even. But I’m not going to ruin my mood by dwelling on the fact that it’s still in the living room and upstairs. Nope, on to brighter happier thoughts. This paint color is Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige. I really don’t think beige when I see it. I think of the perfect shade of soft taupe. A wonderful milky color.
Here’s the after. Total awesomeness!
I seriously love it y’all. I’m so giddy over it and cannot believe I get to use it all the time AND play with that mantel!
Years ago I saw a picture of a wreath made from silver trays in a magazine and have kept it in my mind ever since. Took me a while to collect the trays but the Mister and I made the wreath last week. Total eye-catcher when you walk through the door. Click here for the DIY!
You can see the before and after of painting the table here in this post. And the no-sew drop cloth curtains in this post. And all about the chairs and where I got them in this post.
This shelf was a what in the world is it moment when visiting Waco last year. It was laying on the ground and the woman at the counter didn’t even know what it was. But I knew I’d find something to do with it.
No modern farmhouse dining room would be complete without redoing a few things. The table used to be a cherry wood color. Bleh. And I’ve had that frame (you can see it above in the before picture) for 15 years. It was time for a fresh new look. And you can’t say the words farmhouse look without some chicken wire right? Made the cloche a while back and if you’d like to make one, here’s the DIY here.
One of my favorite things about the dining room is the vintage blue bottles and how the color pops off the walls. It’s the perfect color to coordinate with the blue kitchen right next to it.
Last but not least, I love all the things you can do with lanterns. I very rarely have candles in them. This time it’s antlers and blue insulators! Another touch of vintage blue to work with the kitchen.
Well there it is in all its glorious glory! I absolutely love the way it turned out. After thinking about it for a while though, I think I should rename it to Suburban Farmhouse Dining Room. This house is in the suburbs after all. But… does it say Cindy lives here with her spin on a modern/suburban farmhouse dining room? Totally!
The dining room turned out fabulous! Excellent job! I do love the silver tray wreath! How clever! It’s such a focal point!

Thanks Cindy!
Oh my gosh, I love what you’ve done in here! The silver trays on the wall, the blue bottles, all of it!
I had that white metal wreath in my hands a few months ago and put it back. I’ve been kicking myself ever since because they are not to be found.

Oh no, I’ve regretted not buying something before. It’s a yucky feeling. Maybe Miss Crafty, you need to make one?! Thanks for the sweet compliments. Hope you come visit one day and enjoy the dining room with me!
I love your redecorated Modern Farmhouse Dining Room! I applaud, your use of some color and not going white, on white, on white. Those of us actually on the farm know that nothing stays white with kids, grandkids, and animals running around. Even just a collection of blue bottles brings in color, and what farmhouse is without a blue Mason jar? Your silver tray wreath is gorgeous. I probably have enough trays to do one, but my MIL already complains about my tarnished silver. The wooden crate/shelve is a great find. Where did you find your beautiful cow mold?
Author
LOL – The Mister kept asking if I was going to clean the trays first. I like the tarnished look for the wreath but have to clean the spoons we use as hooks everywhere. I have to clean them often because I didn’t know I shouldn’t use the liquid silver cleaner that you can just dip it into and it’s perfect. I think that’s what makes them tarnish so quickly. Oh well. The cow mold was from First Market Trade Days in Canton, TX. I bet you could find one online. Thank you for the compliments and I hope you make a wreath and tell the MIL it’s SUPPOSED to be that way. 😉
Wow Cindy This is some transformation. You must be thrilled it looks like an entirely different room and I love everything you did especially the silver trays that was just so creative. I just keep coming back and looking at it 😂

Aww, thank you Barbara and you can look as long as you want, I do too – LOL. Wish you lived close so we could enjoy it together! You’ll need to come visit!
Nothing feels better than the sense of accomplishment you get when a plan comes together! What a fabulous plan, and great execution. I simply love the room. Did you paint the chandelier?
Author
Nope! You’d think so but it looks so different with the new wall color! When are you coming over? We’ll sit in there to play Lucky 13 and try and concentrate while we are surrounded by beauty. 😉

Wow that is one beautiful transformation Cindy. I have to say your room is full of sooo many beautiful and interesting objects. Each one has its own story to tell. I would really love to see a tutorial on that stunning tray wreath.

Thank you bunches Mary! We have really enjoyed it. I try and find interesting pieces and not shop at chain stores if I can help it. Sometimes though, a good ol craft store has exactly what you’ve been looking for! 😉 I will show a tutorial on the wreath soon. It’s surprisingly easy! Thanks again for the sweet comments. I truly appreciate it.
Cindy,
This is fabulous!! That wreath arrangement with the trays is just stunning!! Well done my friend xoxo
