Our Full of Joy Christmas Guest Bathroom

Christmas Nutcrackers and boxwood topiary
Spread the love

Hello Sweets!  Are you still decorating for Christmas?  Do you have guests coming for the holiday?  If so, I wanted to share a spot some of us forget about or don’t want to fool with since we have so much going on.  This area is the guest bathroom.  You can make small changes that will make a huge difference to your guests.  Here’s our Full of Joy Christmas Guest Bathroom!

Full of Joy Christmas Guest Bathroom

Remember months ago I joined the $100 Room Challenge?  If not, check it out here.  If you do, you’ll notice I didn’t really change much to fill the guest bath with the joys of Christmas.

The Christmas Theme

Friends and family spend a lot of time in the bathroom (don’t get an image) so I wanted it to be festive too.  It literally took me 10 minutes.  I looked around and decided to work with the decor elements I liked best – the small topiary tree, the boxwood wreath and the large ribbon on the lamp shade.  Yeah I know, I hate the lamp cord too but what can you do?

Christmas Nutcrackers and boxwood topiary

Adding a fun ribbon to the topiary tree instantly adds happiness.  I’ve had these topiary nutcrackers for years and still remember the day they were purchased from Cracker Barrel.  If you’ve not been to a Cracker Barrel, we go for the breakfast.  What I like best is their large porch with big comfy rocking chairs used while you wait and the gift shop in the front where you pay your bill.  Really cute stuff!

Small touches in unusual places

lamp with ribbon and red ornament

Last year I picked up a package of shatter proof Christmas ornaments from Target.  You’ll see I used several of them here in the guest bathroom.  Adding one to the lamp shade was easy with twine.  It kind of looks like a reindeer nose but that’s okay with me.  Just more happiness when you walk in.

Don’t spend a lot of money

Moving around the room I added a Christmas swag above the mirror.  We simply added a small nail just above the mirror to hang it on.  Easy peasy.  Don’t forget the festive hand towel.  That’s a must!  Honestly, I’d prefer the box of paper towels for guests but I can’t find them anywhere.  I think about boys.  Boys don’t wash there hands as well as I think they should and I wouldn’t want to use the same towel after a boy.  So if you have a suggestion on where to find the paper towels, please let me know!

Shower curtain with red ornaments tied on

Here’s more of those Target ornaments tied together with left over ribbon.  When you close the bathroom door, you finally notice there’s a shower in there.  Just look at the joy!

tobacco basket with boxwood wreath and red ornaments

Can you tell I’m partial to boxwood?  I have wreaths, topiaries, nutcrackers, and even the little boxwood pot sitting on the shelf above the toilet.  LOL.  I love me some greens!  Anyway, you’ll notice I kept the same tobacco basket up there with the same boxwood wreath hanging inside.  Only added more red ornaments.  I like it so much, I might keep something hanging inside the wreath each season.  Love the layers.

Now you’ve seen our full of joy Christmas guest bathroom.  The whole point of this post isn’t just to give you more Christmas inspiration but to show you how to make a big impact with guests with minimal effort.

Keep this in mind:

Keep most of what you already have in bathroom decor to make it easier.

Choose a theme (Look at what Christmas decor you already have).

Add small touches to unusual places (like my ornament around the lampshade, ornaments on shower curtain).

Always have a festive hand towel (a Christmas bath mat would be nice too).

The only bad thing about having a super cute joyful Christmas bathroom… Guests might spend to much time in there.  Might want to pick up some Poo Pourrie if that’s the kind of situation you have going on.  Yep, I went there.  LOL!

Happy Christmas Decorating Friends!

I am NUTS over this bathroom! So cute. The last three images I can’t see? Perhaps a pay to play fee is involved? 🙂

Check again! I logged a ticket with the IT department and he said it’s been fixed! Glad you liked it. At least what you saw of it! Thanks Laura.

Good morning and Merry Christmas! I am delighted to find your site. Not many bloggers can relate to life in the country. We live on CR403 north of Moss Lake on the Red River. I’m impressed with your pretty but practical decorating. Keep the good ideas coming. Sunday

I’m so glad you found me too Sunday! I’m very geographically challenged so I’m guessing you are in Oklahoma? I think it would be so fun to live on the Red River but the color of the water might be a nuisance. Thank you for the sweet comment! Keep ‘em coming! That’s how I can get to know you better! Merry Christmas

This is how I hide my cord in one of my bathrooms

I use a ivy trailing stem – just wrap in around or over the cord / it sure helps solve my problem for years

Thank you Donna, I’ll have to try that. I had thought of just making a cord cover with left over fabric but haven’t found the time. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I love your lovely bathroom!! I have found paper hand towels at Home Goods, TJMaxx and Marshalls. Another place to look is in a Tuesday Morning if you have any of those stores near you. When I find them I always grab at least 4 or five and that way I have them at Christmas for several years! I hope you have luck! Also what I have done is to buy stacks of washcloths and fold them into a basket, which I leave out year-round. Easy to throw in with other laundry. I chose all white since they can be bleached and always look fresh!

We have all of those stores and I’ll try and get there soon. And the white stack of wash cloths is a great idea! Quick question. Do your guests know to use them as tip towels and when they are finished using them, do they put them in a specific place? Like an empty basket etc.? I’m very excited about this! Thanks so much Gabi!

Thanks Terrie. We all need to have a little joy in the guest areas, right?! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

    Hi Cindy,

This is pretty, love the soldiers, how cute are they? Adding the Christmas balls to the shower curtain is such a nice touch.

Boxwoods say Christmas. Your guests will love this.

Woo hoo Cindy! Wish you were a guest one day. I’ll have to paint the rest of the house first then I’ll invite you. We’ll only have to work out logistics! 😉 Merry Christmas

I still cherish those Nutcracker topiaries. So festive! This entire room is just brimming with holiday cheer. Your mom told me she’s looking forward to visiting that elegant room on Christmas Eve. She also mentioned that she was surprised to hear that you “love you some greens”. Apparently she had trouble getting you to eat your veggies when you were a child. Merry Christmas!

    • December 16, 2019 / 11:08 am

Thank you Mommy Dearest. I do love me some greens. And the plastic kind probably taste better than the veggie kind for sure. Bleh. Looking forward to seeing you Christmas Eve. 😉

Your Christmas toilette looks lovely, Cindy! The boxwood with the red elements is perfect! Also, if you don’t want to run to the store, Amazon has quite a few festive disposable hand towels to choose from (but, I’m thinkin’ you knew that! 😉 )

    • December 16, 2019 / 3:10 pm

Yep, you know it! I’m a touchy-feely-gotta-look-at-it kinda girl. So glad you like the bathroom. Thanks Julie!

    Hi Cindy
I get my paper guest towels at Home Goods, Marshall’s and Amazon. Even Party city has them. I keep them in a faux leather storage box and change them seasonally. I tried the white wash clothes in a bin with an empty bin next to it but no one used them except my girls to take off their mascara….tough stains to get out,…grr. So I transitioned them to make up wipes from Marshall’s and I went back to paper guest towels
I love your guest bathroom. I lov Cracker Barrel too. It’s an event for me! Thanks for inspiring me. I’m off to decorate my bathrooms! Kids coming home from college tomorrow so they will stay neat until then…😊

    • December 17, 2019 / 10:46 am

I’m excited to hear someone else wants to have the bathrooms decorated! I’ll have to venture into a different city I suppose because we don’t have a Marshall’s and our Home Goods is small which is why I guess they don’t carry them. For some reason, they carry a huge amount of baby stuff and organizational items. Maybe our demographics are new messy families?! LOL. Hope your kids enjoy seeing the home all decorated for Christmas. Especially those bathrooms! 🙂 Thanks for the great idea Susan! Merry Christmas.
