Hey Friends! It’s officially summer in my book – yay! And as I was perusing the links on Farmhouse Friday, I started thinking about some DIY’s I’d like to tackle this year. I’ve saved several ideas from Pinterest over time and hope this is the year to get a few of them completed. One Pinterest board is called Easy DIY Ideas and the other is Great Ideas/Good to Know. So after gawking over there I put together my 5 farmhouse loving DIY projects to tackle this summer.
My 5 Farmhouse Loving DIY Projects to Tackle This Summer
Stacy Ling, Bricks-n-Blooms
For years, and I mean back when this was trendy, I’ve wanted to paint a so-not-my-vibe-anymore-kinda-ugly chair. It’s in great shape and I like the style just not the fabric color. I’ve had it like 15 years now so obviously that decade isn’t working for me anymore. Stacy shared an easy tutorial for painting upholstery so this will be first on my list. I love how her settee turned out!
Design Sponge by Kate Pruitt
Y’all these cans give me all the summer feels. I don’t know if it’s the glow of the moon, the water or just the lit up cans themselves. Whatever it is, I’m making some of these cans! Can’t you just see these hanging out in our moss covered trees, on the front porch or over the picnic table? I hope mine turn out as beautiful.
Hubsy and Me
You know I love a good no-sew project so when I came across this ottoman, it blew me away. I’ve thought about recovering ours many times but many times I kept saying I needed to sew a slip cover. For some people that’s an easy task. For me, it’s daunting! We plan to paint the game room upstairs but I felt doing that and not doing anything to the ottoman was a waste of time. Not anymore! I think I’ll recover the barstools too!
Midwest Homebody
I know, people make candles all the time. Well not this people. I used to get my candles from a store that had the best scents and man-o-man they were super strong. Well they retired in 2020 which is a total bummer for me. And after searching for the same strong scents, I’m left with making my own. I want to put them in vintage ice cream glasses, goblets or compotes. Doesn’t that sound fun?!
The Ponds Farmhouse
I pinned this fantastic tree made of shiplap last year and have never forgotten it! I think I’ll wait until the end of summer but I will make this and love it for the rest of my days. Rachel and her hubby made it seem easy and I can think of so many fun ways to decorate it. So excited!
Well that’s my plan for the summer. What will you tackle this summer? If you don’t follow me on Pinterest, you can click here and do so. I have tons of beautiful boards so stop by when you have time!
Cindy thank you so much for sharing my antique settee! I LOVE how it turned out and can’t wait to see what you do! xo

Hope you’ll share a picture with us when you finish your projects too Marlene. Have fun!
Wow, Cindy, you are going to be one busy lady! I want to check back in and see all of these projects! I am with you in the sewing camp, not me, no way. Good for you for saying you are going to tackle that ottoman…AND barstools! I can wield a staple gun, so I might be able to recover something that way, but a slipcover…no way! Now, candles is something I have thought about making, too! I am anxious to hear how they turn out and how fragrant they are. I only have one that has enough fragrance for me and it was something super expensive my Wall Street son bought for me! Don’t work too hard this summer!
