Love these ideas for late summer decor changes!

Spread the love

Hello friends!  It’s August (and still over 100 degrees) and even though I’ve been thinking about fall and what color scheme I’d like to use this year, you probably are not.  No, I won’t be transitioning over to fall just yet but I am ready to make a few small adjustments.  As always, I search my Pinterest Boards for fun inspiration and love these ideas for late summer decor changes!

Love These Ideas For Late Summer Decor Changes

I find that looking to nature and creating small vignettes around my home are the two easiest ways to transform your surroundings.  Whether you choose to do it with flowers, branches, produce or accessories, this is how to make the changes when ready.

sunflowers in pot, squirrel and cloche on a trayFollow The Yellow Brick Home

Amber from Follow the Yellow Brick Home used one little pumpkin under her cloche for fall but if you aren’t geared up for gourds yet, no worries.  A teacup and saucer would look great in its place.  Especially if you had one with gold or brown coloring.  But it’s the adorable squirrel that does it for me.  So cute!

old tray with flowers and acornsLora Bloomquist

Do you have a divided tray or maybe a coke bottle (okay soda or pop for everyone outside of Texas) crate?  Look at what Lora Bloomquist adds to hers.  Acorns, flowers, fruit and amber bottles.  This would be awesome sitting anywhere in your home.  On the coffee table, as a table centerpiece, in a chair in the entry or on the hearth.  Beautiful!

basket with fern and sunflowers and quilt as table centerpieceThe Ponds Farmhouse

I bet you have a basket sitting around somewhere.  Rachel from The Ponds Farmhouse has not only added a fern, branches and sunflowers as a centerpiece but she laid it on top of a vintage quilt with soft summer colors.  This would be easy to take care of and easily moved around from place to place.  Today you might want your basket by the front door.  Another day as a table centerpiece and tomorrow on the bottom stair.  So many fun places!

cloche with birds, leaves and mossCommon Ground

You can’t go wrong with changing your colors and textures to a deeper hue.  Look at this from Debra at Common Ground.  The leaves, branches and moss scream late summer and it’s all tucked into one eye-catching cloche.

Go ahead and swap out your bedding.  It will put you in a totally different mood.  Golds mixed with grays and wheat colors are perfect for late summer.  By keeping plants, accessories and wall art bright will keep the summer vibes going.

You probably have a lantern stashed somewhere too.  Pull small books, candles and faux stems for a super easy vignette.

There’s no right or wrong way to place things inside a lantern and they will stand out on any mantel, console table or bookshelf.  I love using mine most on side tables or as a centerpiece.

Last but not least, if you find a print or painting that has your desired colors, grab it.  The subject doesn’t matter as much as you’d think.  My friend, Michelle at Thistle Key Lane, painted this crock and mum with her own little hands and I pull it out as much as I can.  If you’d like to see her other very affordable work, click here and place an order.

From seeing these ideas for late summer decor changes, are you ready for a small switcharoo like me?  If you have any questions, please comment and let me know.  I’m happy to answer and chat with you.

Happy Decorating friends!

Changing over to the next season earlier than most was the hardest thing to get over as a blogger. And it’s still hard! 🙂

Yep, I’m ready for late summer color. Once August sneaks in the color vibe changes here. Hey, thanks so much for sharing my late summer nature cloche! I adore Michele’s art work. She’s so talented and I need to go back to her store to check out her pieces.

Loved your cute cloche! I wish our seasons changed like y’alls. In August and most of September (sometimes October) it’s still hot and all dead looking. And depending on where you live in Texas, there are no changing leaves. Bleh. Hope you get to check out Michelle’s stuff. You are right, she is so talented!

Beautiful ideas, I’m so ready for Fall! Also, we definitely call it coke here in North Carolina, and everyone did in Georgia where I used to live as well. I think it’s a southern thing.

Calling it coke is just right. LOL! Thank you Jeanine. Have a great week.

You are so sweet to include my table centerpiece in your post today.

As we prepare for another day in the mid 90’s with HUMIDITY that we have here in ‘chicagoland, I cringe at the thought of trying to do fall. Our Spring was late, our summer went from 60s to 90’s and then stuck there. All the christmas in July posts have basically made me ill…lol.
I don’t want to go shopping with all the seasons rushing on top of me. HOWEVER, I love your box, reminds me of one of the first designing/home decorating programs where the host would do an inspiration box of elements/colors selected from a whole assortment of colored items. I always think the colors from nature are the most soothing! Now to get my sunflowers out…maybe…lol.

I totally get it Sandi. It’s been hard for me to get excited about much of anything. Last night, a couple of hours after the sun had gone down, it was still 106 degrees. The hubs said August will be less hot. All I could think – was oh goody, it will only feel like 100 instead of 120. Bleh. Stay cool and thank you for the visit!

You are so sweet to include my artwork Cindy. Thank you my friend! It’s so hard to think about fall right now with our ongoing heat wave, but I’ll get there eventually. I am ready to decorate with sunflowers though and will be looking for some this weekend.

I totally agree Michelle. I can’t muster up full fall decor just yet. Stay cool!
