Hello there! Everywhere I look I see posts about fall; magazines showing red and orange trees and catalogs with this years “must have’s”. But I can’t seem to get excited. It’s still over a hundred degrees here. I’m a blogger, I’m supposed to be enthusiastic. Furthermore, a proper blogger should have shown you what’s popular and where to find it. Ugh! I can’t even drag myself to the attic and bring out my own fall stash. Okay, I can’t even ask the Mister to drag it all out.
What I can do though, is show y’all a few accounts on Instagram of late summer decor to help us push through these last few weeks of heat! 😉
Late Summer Decor Inspiration
Here’s my first late summer inspiration photo. This is Courtney @goldenboysandme. I admire her mix of aqua blues and yellow. Adding the purples and oranges is a great way to add a tiny touch of fall too. Each room displayed on her account is filled with entertaining color. You’ll definitely want to check it out.
The next late summer photo is @sweetlittlehouseofmine. Steph’s photos with soft blues and yellows will be soothing for weeks. To boost her home into fall, she could add deeper golds or greens to her decor. Like adding dark green or gold candles on the candlesticks.
My third choice is from one of the most colorful accounts I’ve ever seen. Inside and out is full of happy color. When you look at Tracy’s @plaids.and.poppies garden outside, you’ll be amazed at her green thumb and guess what?! She does it all herself! Seems like Disney World could take a tip or two from her.
Fourth Instagram account is from Heather @Phoenix_Pheather. She won our hashtag game (#SimplySeasonalDecor) once. I see her home as a soothing place to be during late summer. Can’t you? By adding deep rust pillows to her sofa, she would bring touches of fall into the room without trying.
Last but not least is another colorful account on Instagram. This photo is from @Stagerroz. I think Roz’s centerpiece idea is so cute. I could see this on my table for a couple more weeks until I transition to fall. On the other hand, if I added a few orange flowers, I could slap you with a tiny bit of fall and you wouldn’t see it coming! LOL.
In short, you don’t have to keep up the summer decor if you don’t want too but if you’re like me and cannot bring yourself to do it… Here are a few late summer decor inspiration accounts to check out on Instagram. I totally agree Cindy I want to hold onto summer as long as I can. Fall is one of my favorite decorating seasons but if you’re not in the mood it would be more of a chore than a pleasure to decorate. I love all these different ideas. The weather is supposed to be cooling down over the next couple weeks so maybe that will help. Not sure how I want to decorate this year if I want to do neutrals or bring the bold oranges which I love. what are you thinking? Although I have seen many beautiful fall things already on IG nothing has really grabbed me.

Hi Barbara! So glad you stopped by today. I honestly have no clue how I’m going to decorate for fall this year. Last year I did a combo of orange and aqua blue in Navasota but didn’t really do much in the Highland Village house at all. I’ll probably do a little snooping this weekend and see what jumps out at me. I always need an inspiration piece first. Hope you have a great weekend!
I agree even though Maine is no where as hot as you all! I am thinking about fall decorations though as I try to make some for 1)me, 2)my booth, and 3) church Ladies Aid sale table. Want to go outside this a.m. and plant a few more perennial flower seeds and see what comes up! Busy fringing ends of 12″ wide non-fraying burlap for my daughter’s 9/14 wedding. It is sneaking up on us! Have 62 of 160 done so far!

Oh my word Kathy! You are a busy woman. I can’t imagine doing so much. What are you making for the Ladies Aid sale table? Wish I were close, I’d love to come. Those sales are always so fun. On another note… September is a great month for a wedding! The 14th is my birthday and the 5th is our wedding anniversary. Woo hoo! Hope your booth and the church sale is a success. And you get to slow down and enjoy the season.
Lovely examples and i am not ready to decorate for Fall yet either. Thanks and stay cool, surely it will get cooler soon, lol!!

Thanks Marlene. As I get older, I definitely don’t decorate like a used to. The house looked like Hobby Lobby regurgitated all over it. LOL. Not sure if it’s my maturity/laziness or my new more sophisticated taste in decor that’s changed. I’m going with the latter. LOL! I don’t think anyone would describe me as sophisticated. 😉
I have to agree with you Cindy! I have been in a funk for the last month. My blog and IG have suffered for it too. I’m so over the heat….just yesterday I had The Hubs pull out some fall decor and Ive started adding tiny little bits of fall here and there. But it’s hard when you have heat index over 100! I LOVE Courtneys kitchen. So bright and clean and cool looking. Actually all of them of them are gorgeous! Hang in there and I’m praying for a cold front so that I find a little inspiration…

Glad to know I’m not the only one in a summer funk Tammy. I plan to give the house a good cleaning next week and get some fall stuff out. Mostly to remind myself of what I have but hopefully to get some inspiration and a bit of excitement!
I am just the opposite! My brain is screaming for fall decor and the weather that goes with it! I can’t wait to start dragging out the pumpkins, baskets and all the other colorful things that fall brings…it is my favorite time of year! 🙂 I do love all the inspiration you shared! Simply beautiful! Hugs!

If the weather would drop into the 80’s I’d be right there with you Benita! Fall is my absolute fave and it never lasts long enough around here so I’m usually the first on my block to decorate for fall. I just need the weather to change!!! 🙂
Hanging onto summer with high heat index and both hands.
Fall is my least favorite time to decorate…pumpkins and sunflowers aren’t my thing…natural looking leaves and a pumpkin or two…ok…but not bright orange. I like using deep reds during fall… but sparingly on any of it.
I love plaids and poppies…she is sooo good with color

Yay, so glad you liked it BJ and yes, Plaids and Poppies is sooooo good with color. Her home is put together perfectly. I understand about the fall color even though I love it. I’ll admit I used to go way overboard on the fall decor. Now that I’m older, I think less is best. Could be my laziness but I like it. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Lots of great inspiration! I need to go follow these accounts. Happy almost fall!!
hugs,
Jann

Thanks Jann. You’ll see some fun ideas for sure. 😄
Well, I loved all the blue and yellow. Especially the more teal hues. Always full of great ideas and examples. Fun read!

Thanks. Check out their accounts on IG. You’ll see more fun ideas.
Can you tell me where you purchased the two wire wall baskets? I love them. Could they be hung with command strips? I’m not sure I want to make holes in my new cabinets but would love to do something like this. Thanks!

Those wire baskets are in Courtney’s kitchen so I’m not sure where she got them. I did google wire baskets and came up with something super similar. Here’s the link but I didn’t see basket that looks like a command hook would work. Best wishes!
