Howdy Friends! How was your weekend? I feel like I got so much accomplished. I finished some much needed painting projects, finished gathering the tax stuff asked for by the Mister and got to hang out with our middle child home for spring break. You’ll see the painting projects soon but today I thought I’d show you what I did in the kitchen. Here are a few ideas for spring decorating in the kitchen.
Ideas For Spring Decorating In The Kitchen
You’ve heard me say this before – it all starts with an inspiration piece. Well, today’s inspiration was a new set of kitchen towels from Home Goods. Anyone else need new kitchen towels? Don’t keep using them if they are raggedy or stained. For the price of one fast food meal you can have a new pretty set of kitchen towels. And when I saw these, my brain started dancing with ideas once I had them in my hot little hands. Actually, it was my feet. I was pushing my cart all over the place trying to find what I pictured in my head.
So much for dancing in the aisles. I was sorely disappointed. Does that happen to you? You know what you want then you can’t find it? Ugh. That happens to me A LOT. Total bummer. So I drove to a few other stores only to give up. When I got back home I found a couple of Easter things in the decor closet.
I like them but it wasn’t exactly what I imagined.
It looks better now that it’s beefier.
The trip to Hobby Lobby restored my unfortunate attitude because the spring print was super cheap (like 40% off $13.99 cheap!). It wasn’t quite large enough for the wall but that didn’t matter. I knew I would figure something out. While rummaging through all the crap great stuff in the closet, I found a tray I’d had for years. One small nail in the center and voila, the print is now a little more substantial. I love it!
On the island I keep a tray with our everyday dishes in it. You might say it’s because I’m lazy and hate putting away the dishes or you could say I’m organized. Truth is, I’m short and reaching in the cabinets for plates or bowls is frustrating. It makes life a little easier and who doesn’t need that?!
On the other side of the kitchen sit the canisters. Hanging spring themed cookie cutters was easy and adds a little bit of color. They won’t get in the way because they don’t get much use. Complete accuracy here… I keep them there so I look like I cook or bake. LOL – Not kidding! Anyway, as a side note, I’ve always used vintage teacups for scoops. If you have a collection of them, changing them out seasonally is a fun way to show them off. So keep that in mind.
Last Idea for Spring Decorating in the Kitchen
Another cookie cutter was used as a weight to hold down the napkins on the breakfast table. The carrot didn’t have the leafy top so I tied twine around the end. Clever if I do say so myself. π On the Lazy Susan I added more twine to hold 3 vintage bottles together. The yellow stems are leftovers. You could use a brighter ribbon if you want more color but with our blue walls, I think keeping it neutral is right for us.
BTW, I get asked about the candle from time to time. It’s a vintage jello mold. To remove the last of the candle, I put it in the freezer for an hour or so and it pops out cleanly.
I hope you saw a few ideas for spring decorating in the kitchen that you hadn’t thought of before. Maybe you can incorporate one or two or give me a couple of ideas in the comments! I’d love to hear how you decorate in your kitchen during spring.
Pretty towels you found at Home Goods. I get disappointed when I have something in my head and go to the store and nothing feels right.
At times I’ll get lucky somewhere else. When I have something I want it’s hard to change my mind.
Ever keep looking and think it wi appear, yeah that’s me.

Thank you Sonya! I smile each time I walk into the kitchen now. Could be because I’m not cooking but I’m going with the new happy decor. π
I especially loved your idea of vintage cups in flour and sugar canisters plus the little hanging decor. Very clever and no one needs to know the canisters are there just for looks!

LOL, that makes me feel better Sonya! I cherish my small collection of teacups and I’m always looking out for some that will fit the seasons. Glad you loved an idea too. That makes my day. Thanks!
Now i am going to have to do the kitchen, thanks Cindy. I did my dining room table and my bedroom. I love cute little kitchen towels, they always perk me up and your cute sign. Have a fun time with your daughter and thanks.

I figured everyone was sick of seeing the full kitchen so I didn’t put it in! LOLOLOL. I suppose I can do that when I change it up for summer. π
