Hey hey hey! Still wondering how you’re going to decorate for fall? I kept the inside to a minimum (love that decision btw) and now I’m trying to decide whether or not to decorate our porchette this year. Oh, you haven’t heard the word porchette? Well as I show you some wonderful examples of how to decorate a small porch for fall, you’ll understand what I mean.
How to decorate a small porch for fall
In my mind, a true porch is one you can sit on, relax on, rock-the-day-away on, get out of the rain on. Ours does none of that so it’s a porchette. Many of us have porchettes and don’t even know it. Some people might call them stoops but those little areas that greet friends, neighbors, the pizza and delivery person – don’t they deserve some beautification too? Why yes, yes they do!
Charme and More
I love this idea. All you need is a small bench or stool, a mum, a lantern and a pumpkin. Three (visually but four literally) small items tucked into the corner and boom, instant fall cuteness!
On Sutton Place
These olive buckets with mums and a wreath on the door makes a huge statement to welcome fall and guests to your door. And using the orange/rusty color with the blue door and rug is the perfect combo. I’d see this from the street and want to a peek inside!
Finding Silver Pennies
I see dried cornstalks on lots of porches but using fresh corn makes a new and different kind of statement. Everything Danielle used on her porch is green and white. Keeping the color consistent is beautiful!
Living Liesel
If your space is limited, don’t fee as though you have to be symmetrical and decorate both sides of the door. Here’s a perfect example. Adding pumpkins, a great door mat and something taller in the corner is welcoming all on its own. Hello everyone, come on in!

Maybe you have or could find a small chair that would fit in the corner. The plaid blanket is perfect for added color. If you don’t have a slim chair, how about using a tall stool or a two step ladder instead? If we can’t go wide with our decor, then going up is a great idea!
Now you know how to decorate a small porch for fall with these 5 great ideas! Did you see anything you’d like to incorporate? I did. I love the idea of utilizing a stool or chair with a blanket. And I like that if the blanket gets dirty I just throw it in the washing machine. Plus, the colorful mums and pumpkins will take care of all the beauty work!
A couple of years ago, before we painted our front door on the house in Highland Village a new pretty blue/green color, it was terracotta. I remember trying a few different looks for the urns. Even threw in a chair and blanket. But that was an embarrassing year. ๐ Not my best work that’s for sure. If you’d like to see The Don’ts of Decorating a Porchette, click here but don’t laugh! And from that, you’ll know exactly why I always say I’m not crafty!
I love this post! We have a lot better too!
We found a bear cub playing with one of my pumpkins in the street last night! Too much cuteness!

Oh my golly, no way!!!!! Did you get it on video? That is crazy cool and not many people could ever say those words. ๐ Thank you Laura!
Love your ideas for a small porch Cindy. I went back to your “don’t” post and had to chuckle about the neon blue pumpkin topiaries. Our previous porch barely held a small bench, but you could barely turn around on it. The chair, lantern, scarf and pumpkin are perfect for a small area. Hope you’re having a great week.

Thank you Debra. I still remember that day and how frustrating it was!!! Now you see why I often say I’m not very crafty. What takes everyone else 15 minutes takes me an entire day. But I’m determined to make the best of our porchette.
I have a porchette too. These are all beautiful ideas, but I’m with you in that I really like the plaid blanket and chair idea best. I do have a narrow ladder I could use instead of a chair. Hum — you’ve got me thinking. Thank you very much.

Yay Miche! I’m excited to hear you were inspired! You too can make the most out of a porchette and everyone who drives by and sees it will be inspired too! Send a photo if you can. I’d love to see it.
I love all your cute examples. Whether big display or small it still makes me smile to see what people have done for the holiday to their homes. I think it’s the joy we bring to others that matters, have a great week.

The joy we bring to others? Heck no! It’s all about me! Just kidding. I love serving and all things hospitality which includes decorating the porchette for my neighbors. Hope you are enjoying your gardens Marlene.
I have a small porch at an awkward angle. A small bench would be so cute! Thanks for the inspo!

So glad you found some inspiration Marie and I hope it turns out just the way you want it too – perfectly fall.
So many beautiful examples of porchettes, Cindy! We have one at Bliss Barracks and my childhood home as well so I can wait to try these ideas. We definitely want it to feel festive but sometimes the space feels limiting. These ideas are all beautiful though and just what we need. Hugs, CoCo
