Hello friends! I have a Pinterest Challenge today that will make your mom (or you) giddy with delight. If you’re new here, a Pinterest Challenge is showing off several styles from one inspiration photo by some very talented bloggers. Let’s get started with how to create the perfect floral Mother’s Day gift.
How to create the perfect floral Mother’s Day gift!
If you’ve hopped over from Kim’s blob – Cottage in the Mitten, howdy! I’m so glad you decided to visit. Stick around and check out some of the other posts. And if you have any questions, email me. I’d love to be friends!
Our inspiration photo comes from Karen at Sanctuary Home Decor. If you’ve not seen her blog, check it out. She is amazing with flowers! Both growing and arranging them.
When I saw her photo I thought to myself, it’s cute, looks easy and mom would LOVE it! Who wouldn’t really. I do.
Collage of steps one thru four.
Here’s what you need to make a hanging basket on your own. It’s way easier than you think and even using real flowers, it will last a long time. These flowers are almost 2 weeks old and it literally took me less than 10 minutes to put together.
Step One: I chose a mini basket from Hobby Lobby because I used it at Easter. Mine is about 12″ long but you can make this in any size hanging basket you like. If your basket is clear like mine, fill it with a lunch sack/paper bag to hide the stems and baggie. I had white but brown will be just fine.
Step Two: Next, cut floral foam to fit inside the mini basket. Make sure and get the foam that holds water. It’s messy so do it over a garbage can. Then wet it thoroughly. Enough to keep the stems wet but not over saturated.
Step Three: Put the cut foam inside a baggie. This is so you don’t worry about extra drips.
Step Four: Place baggie inside the lunch sack that is sitting inside the hanging basket.
Step Five: Start adding your flowers! This foam is a one and done foam. Meaning, once you poke the stem inside the foam it should stay there forever and not be moved around. It will make a larger hole and the foam will not reform around the stem. You don’t want wobbles.
You can decorate the basket with ribbon or leave it alone. It’s beautiful as is and my-oh-my, mom is going to adore it!
I hung it on a door knob, on the hutch, on the wall, inside a frame. It hung all over the place so I could decide where I loved it most. There are so many options when you make a mini version.
Where would you hang it? Glad you stuck around to see how to create the perfect Mother’s Day gift! I hope you make one. It’s super easy, inexpensive and I truly believe everyone would love this gift.
