I have a song stuck in my head as I walk around the house spring sprucing. Have you done any spring sprucing yet? Are you refining and refreshing your home with a little pep in your step? We’re at the farmhouse for a couple of weeks so I thought I’d share how to create spring-inspired vignettes that are super easy. I’ve put together a few as I whip this place into shape.
How to Create Spring-Inspired Vignettes That Are Super Easy!
I used to think that old houses were the best kind of houses. That the charm and character shown were exceedingly marvelous. Like the phone cubby built into the wall and the fancy glass door knobs. Or transoms and pocket doors.
Spring mantel
Not saying this old farmhouse had any of those things. Nope. This one was a wedding promise back in the early 1900s when they didn’t think about pocket doors, plumbing, closets or plugs. I guess the bride cared more about a roof over her head and a few windows.
Spring Cubby Shelf
It’s very sweet when you think about it. It also makes me realize that I’m selfish and materialistic. Every time we’re visiting I mumble under my breath about the serious lack of storage. I’m sure having a fancy place to store seasonal greenery, an abundance of baskets or unread hardback books wasn’t on their minds.
All that to say, if you’ve seen the same candle, flowers, greenery, etc. just look at it as if I am the frugal girl using what she already has and maybe the repurposing queen. ๐
Let’s get to how you can change things up to look more springy without a bunch of effort or money.
Each photo above contains items I’m using in the vignettes below. In the photo right above, the gold books for fall were traded for green books during spring in the photo below. Can’t get much easier than that. But if you don’t have books that coordinate with your decor, turn them around so the pages face the front. That’s usually white or cream which will work in a pinch.
If you want to add a couple of other springy items, a sheep mold, a rabbit, a stack of carrots, chicks, a small stem of flowers or a bowl of eggs will look great too.
Last year this candle holder had coffee filter flowers hanging from it.
This spring season I moved the iron basket from the dining room and added a little faux greenery along with children’s books I found at a store near home. No children’s books? No problem! Use eggs or a plant or fruit. I’m sure there’s something in your cabinets that will work inside a basket for spring.
Fall vignettes from the farmhouse dining room.
I grabbed this vintage pitcher from the shelf in the dining room. I love the flowery texture. From fall to spring, the warm gold color is perfect.
With faux white flowers and sitting in front of the window, I think it looks quite different. Of course, more green books work with the cutest green rabbit. Any pitcher or vase with flowers will work here as well as any rabbit. Or instead of a large rabbit, you could choose a framed picture of someone at an Easter egg hunt, baby chicks or a pretty spring landscape.
You’ve seen this basket before. This time it’s been moved to hang on a column. I folded a doily over the top to soften the look and to zhuzh it up a little more. More faux stems and bada bing – instant spring!
This wooden vintage piece is cute on its own but adding a long basket with stems makes it springy! Adding a ribbon or bow around it would be nice but I’m not in a bow kinda mood. Adding a pick with bunnies, chicks or carrots would be cute and colorful though.
Hopefully, you’ve seen how to create spring-inspired vignettes that are super easy by using what you already have. If not, ask a question in the comments or email me and I’m happy to help. Happy Spring friends!
Such pretty displays, Cindy!! I LOVE that long white basket…how stunning! I too use the same decor year after year, just in different ways like you. Hope you are enjoying the Spring!

We sound like to very smart women! ๐ Found the long white basket at an antique store. Thanks for visiting Rachel.
Such cute vignettes!!! Love how you reuse and repurpose!! I was wondering where you found those adorable boxwood bunnies? Thank you for your blog, I enjoy reading all of your posts.

Aww, thank you so much Cynde, I really appreciate that. The bunnies came from the At Home store. Here’s a link to the one I have and a smaller one. I hope you can find them. I got them 2 years ago.

It does look like Sring at the farm, love the simple way you changed everything. I have been doing some decorating also, thanks for the ideas. Have fun at your little farmhouse and hope your animals are doing great.

The animals are doing quite well. They seem fat and happy. Little treat beggars really. Hope you enjoy the new seasonal decorating!
I love this post, Cindy! I think most people use the same things over and over yet for some reason bloggers feel like they have to have something new every season. I totally get it because I get sick of looking at my own stuff all the time too but I don’t think we were made it live like that at all. Our house was not a wedding present but there is next to no storage. On one hand it makes it tough (I need somewhere for my dishes to go) but on the other hand, it forces you to only live with what you love. And in the end, isn’t that what makes us happiest any way? Sending you tons of hugs and thank yous for these small space reminders – I definitely needed to read this today, CoCo

I agree! Living only with the things you love most is what makes me happy. I started last year purging things I wouldn’t buy again or things that had been sitting in a closet or cabinet for years. And boy, let me tell you, I made several trips to the donation spot. One lady even said, “Ooooh, I love it when you come. You have the best stuff”. As nice as that is, she technically, shouldn’t even know me. lol. At least someone is getting use out of it. Have a blessed week and thanks bunches friend.
Great ideas, Cindy. Love to see the transitions from one season to the next. Lovely examples of how easy it can be.

Thank you so much Carol. Happy weekend and happy Easter!
Being a repurposing Queen in this economy is a good thing! When I was first married in ’73, my late ex worked in a construction related job. So he was laid off a lot in the winter; I got good at rearranging furniture, moving art, and putting up different curtains to “change” the decor with NO expenditures! I got out my ceramic Easter village this year–first time in several years and have even lit it up during the numerous dreary, rainy days we have had in Maine. Had to buy a felt garland at Dollar Tree with “Happy Easter” on it for one more pop of color!

Oh yes! The gloomy, cold rain needs to take a hike. But I guess without it, we wouldn’t have beautiful spring growth. I love your story btw. Thank you for sharing that and I bet you could teach us a few things about redesign. Your Easter village sounds so cute. Wish I could see it. So glad you commented Kathy.
Happy Easter!
Fun to see what all you have done to add spring to your home. Thanks for the inspiration! Happy Spring and Happy Easter, Cindy.
