Hello beautiful friends! Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I was not until I concentrated on my dining room table. Getting that done always puts me in a harvest-happy mood and I feel like I’ve accomplished something important. If you need a quick idea, here’s how to create a woodsy Thanksgiving table with warm saturated colors.
I’m excited to mention that I’ve joined some friends in a Grateful Gatherings hop hosted by Laura at Decor to Adore. I know you’re going to see many amazingly creative ideas today.
How to Create a Woodsy Thanksgiving Table with Warm Saturated Colors
If you’ve landed here from Thistle Key Lane, welcome! Michelle’s use what you have post really resonated with me as I always try and repurpose or reuse what I already have. That’s a lot of what my post is about too.
Use a throw blanket or quilt instead of a regular tablecloth.
If you’ve not been here before, I’m Cindy. As you look around today I hope you find interesting ideas to help with your own home. That’s why I started this blog. I like helping people that might be stuck, don’t know where to start or just need a small change because everyone should love the space they live in.
Nature inspired plates and placemats create a woodsy theme.
When I design a Thanksgiving table, I always have one or two pieces for inspiration. It might not always be a painting or something substantial. It could be something as small as a candle, a napkin or a vintage bottle. This table started with a quilted throw blanket. I chose it for the soft golden color. This would be the rich hue I worked with for the entire table.
Leaf stems or garland over the table also creates a cozy feeling.
The next step would be to decide what other colors work with the throw/tablecloth. Deep green, red, orange or rust and browns. Those colors look beautiful together and it just so happens, I have fabulous bird plates from Hobby Lobby with the same colors.
You’ll never get it wrong by adding garland as a centerpiece.
If you don’t already know this about me, I love me some greenery. The real deal and all kinds of faux. Some people choose stems that look extremely real but I honestly, I don’t care. I’ll stick with budget-friendly so when I tire of it or they get ruined, I don’t feel guilty for throwing them out. π
To bring out the woodsy part of this table setting I used cedar placemats from Kirkland’s and 2 strands of cedar garland. Talk about reusing! I’ve used the placemats and garland several times in the last couple of years and always get compliments on them.
Bottles with real flowers or branches from outside, faux stems or tapered candles are always a favorite for centerpieces. It’s because if something is one sided, the people on the back side could feel less important. Likewise, may feel as if they were served the butt of the bread loaf and that won’t do. It’s Thanksgiving.
Consider spreading the color all around the room for cohesiveness.
Remember, when putting together a centerpiece, the height needs to be short so everyone at the table can see each others faces for good conversation. Unless Aunt Biddy talks with food in her mouth. Then, by all means, add a very large arrangement and fight for the chair directly across from her. Eew.
That is how to create a woodsy Thanksgiving table with warm saturated colors. But to incorporate the entire room, you could add leaves on the chandelier and similar colors everywhere. I realize most people don’t have a mantel in their dining room but you could add greenery to a shelf, over the doorways, windows and any artwork you may have. And of course, garland on the chandelier is always beautiful but I’m saving that for Christmas. I wish you could sit here with me and feel the comfy, cozy vibes too.
Now it’s time to visit Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home. Amber has the most beautiful vintage pieces so hop on over and check them out! Make sure and view the others too. There are so many gorgeous ideas!
“I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.” Psalm 9:1-2
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks bunches CoCo. I want the entire house to look like autumn but as a blogger, you know we can’t do it. Hopefully the mix of garland and pinecones help with the rest of the house looking like Christmas. Hope you have a magnificent Thanksgiving. Big hugs.
I love that pretty gold quilted runner, it is my favorite color and just says Fall and Thanksgiving to me. reminds me of the changing leaves all around us. Your table is so pretty and so cheerful. Love, love, love the gold quilt as your tablecloth; it sets off everything so beautifully! The leaves hanging from the chandelier is my all time favorite, though. And yes, those cedar placemats are the best throughout the year! Now I’m thinking I should have woven a cedar garland through my cornucopias…hmm.
