Spread the love

Hello Friends!  I have been checking out some Farmhouse Style Christmas decor because I think it’s time for a few new decor items in this house.  I’ve been using the same old stuff for year and years.  Some of it is still in good shape and I’ll keep on using it until it’s not but the great thing about our Christmas decor is that it’s classic looking or at least my style.

I have friends that go trendy and purchase what’s new each year but I’d rather spend that money on others, the kids or on donations instead of decor that will look out of date next year.  Anyway, here’s what I found that will probably make it into the cart.  Best of all, these items will stand the test of trendy-time.

You can click on the pictures if you’d like to find out more or buy one too.  Clicking will take you straight to the online store.  If you do make a purchase, there’s no extra cost to you but the store does send me a small commission to help pay for the kids’ college tuition (see bottom of page for full disclosure).  πŸ™‚

The pillows around here get the most use.  I’m short and short legged so I need propping up.  Usually I just get new pillow covers but this year I can’t help but love these.

Take a look at these little wall art cuties.  The first 2 are good for hanging on a small wall or can be placed on a plate stand.  The last 2 would look great on a mantel, hanging over a door way or over a bed.

Throw blankets is probably what we go through the fastest.  It may be because I wash them frequently.  But I can’t help it.  Someone can’t hit his mouth and drops buttery popcorn on them and they have to be clean for the next Hallmark movie night!  Here are a couple I love.

The last couple of years I’ve put a white quilt under the tree to cover the tree stand.  Well during those couple of years our tree fell over twice.  Yep, twice.  I think the quilt and the dogs thinking it’s a new place to sleep may have contributed to that so, this year, I’m getting a tree collar.  I think those things are so cleverly cute!  I can’t make up my mind!

Any of these choices will work well for Farmhouse Style Christmas Decor for years to come!

Are you getting anything new this year?  Yes?  Please share with the class!

Big hugs, Cindy

I really love the basket weave tree collar. The last two years I’ve used a tablecloth as a tree skirt.πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

I’ve used a tablecloth too Lisa. I actually think it’s not a bad idea. It’s certainly better than nothing which is something I’ve done before too. That was a not-into-Christmas-because-my-walls-are-gold-decorating year.

Thanks for sharing! I’m seriously considering a tree ring, but the galvanized ones aren’t really my style. Glad to see some other options, I especially like the wicker/basket style one!

I am leaning towards the basket styles too Vicki. I think they look more casual like our living room and would be easier to deal with. For some reason I keep thinking I’d slice a finger trying to get the galvanized collars on the tree. But I’m sure that isn’t the case. They get great reviews and someone would have mentioned that. πŸ™‚

These are some great things, haven’t been looking much been cooking for my gang. I always have to get a new pillow cover and i have a 7ft. skinny tree and use an old tub i have and set it on top of books or something and cover with an old quilt. It adds to the space to put gifts, on top of the quilt and bottom of tub. Everyone thinks its so cute, lol!!

That old tub idea sounds cute to me too Marlene! I have a super old tub I use to put water in for the real tree on the back porch. It’s really to big for the dumpy little tree but oh well. Great minds think alike! πŸ˜‰

I have….I am wanting to add a little “new blood” in with all my other decos this year and have bought a few things that make my heart sing…I am loving the wicker tree collar and may buy that, too.

I leaning towards that one too. Looking forward to seeing all your new goodies!

These are all great picks, Cindy! I love that basket weave tree collar. Last year, I used vintage crocks and baskets to place my trees in. I like to find ways to multi-purpose things. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who doesn’t run out and buy new decor every year. Honestly, I’d rather find vintage or thrifted Christmas decor that is different than what everyone else has. πŸ˜‰

Heather we sound like twinkies! I would rather have something not everyone else has or something repurposed or vintage than anything else. Can hardly wait to see what you do this year. I actually just saw your last years Christmas post! Love it!

LOVE the basket tree collar! I will be investing in one this year as soon as I can find out what size stand our tree has. I am going to get the hubster on that pretty soon. I have decorations dating all the way back to 1979. They are very fragile and I don’t put them out anymore, but I can’t let them go. I hope my kids will want them one day, but I can’t even give them over yet. πŸ™‚ I’ve noticed the red/green trend is in full force this year! Hugs!!

Oh Benita those vintage ornaments sound wonderful! I’d love to see them. Maybe you could get a small tree and put it in a safe place like your bedroom up on a dresser or something and display them? I’m not sure I could give them up either. They just don’t make ’em like they used to. Have fun decorating!

    Cindy,
I love those tree collars. The past few years I had a couple of yards of white fur that I draped around the tree but I haven’t been totally happy with it. I even ordered a skirt or two but have been disappointed with the quality. All of which are crazy because the gifts cover it up. A tree collar may just be the thing!

I think it’s going to be my thing for sure! I love the look and anything that will keep the tree a bit more stable and the dogs not messing with it is a plus in my book. Happy decorating!

I love all these suggestions, Cindy. I love this rustic, well loved type of style that, as you mentioned, will stand the test of time and won’t be out of style next year! I started fresh almost 5 years ago. Literally without a single decoration, just a tree. I’m making and collecting all sorts of fun winter and Christmas decor and ornaments and it makes it so much more special, I think. I thoroughly enjoyed discovering your blog and reading…

Awe, thank you Tara! I’m so glad you found me. Our tree fell twice a couple of years ago and most of the ornaments broke. πŸ™ I was going to start over at the end of season sales but didn’t find anything I really liked so last year I had to make do with what I had; silver spoons and vintage tea cups. I plan on building from there. Makes the shopping more special for me too. Thanks again for stopping by. Happy Thanksgiving!
