Farmhouse Friday 363

Spread the love

It’s FriYay and time for Farmhouse Friday 363!  As I pored over last week’s party links, an old song popped into my head.  I changed one word and sang it all day.  It was Nat King Cole’s version of I’m In The Mood For Love.  Of course, the word fall was changed from love because I was feeling all the fall vibes.  I was a happy camper all day.

Thankfully, we are finally down in the 90’s and I’ve started getting my fall decor out.  So appropriately, I sang Fred Astaire’s version of Cheek to Cheek.  “Heaven, I’m in heaven…”.  Just picture me swaying around and dancing with an autumn pillow.  I was in heaven!  LOL!

Did you grow up watching Fred Astaire movies?  If not, you poor thing!  They are black-and-white movies with great dancing and funny storylines.  I believe I’ve seen every one of his movies.  Okay, I’ll admit, I’ve seen every Gene Kelly and Bing Crosby movie too.  Greatest childhood ever!

If you missed the Pumpkin Palooza Pinterest Challenge, it’s a must-see.  My friends and I shared a pumpkin craft and boy oh boy was I blown away by the creativity.  Check all the DIY’s here.

To go along with the Pinterest Challenge we had, our theme this week is DIY’s.  Let’s get to it.

FARMHOUSE FRIDAY 363!

glass bottle made into wind chime with copper wire and wood beadAnn from The Apple Street Cottage shows off her talents by making a wind chime from a wine bottle.  That’s a great reason to host a party with wine and then recycle the leftover bottles!  I bet the sound is lovely too.

paper garland made from book pages hanging on white interior doorEven if you don’t like chopping up books, this looks worth it.  How cute is this paper garland from Julie at Sum of Their Stories?!  You could change the colors to any season you want.  Hop over to see how she did it.  Totally pin worthy!

Sweet gum Tree ball wreath hanging on an iron piece

These Sweet Gum Tree balls were a menace when I was young.  What a great idea from Cindy at Cloches and Lavender to make a wreath!  Love this for Autumn.  Visit her post to see how you too can save all the children and their bare feet!  πŸ˜‰

I love Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly movies too!! My favorite part of afternoons after school was the old movies shown on TV. Saw some unforgettably good ones in all types of genres! Thanks for bringing those memories back — and thanks for a great party to start the holiday weekend.

We still watch them during Christmas. Like The Bishops Wife, Holiday Inn, and so many others. I wish they had them in color. Although it might be disappointing compared to my imagination. Have a good one!

Thanks for the party Cindy. Loved all those movies! They are the best. Gene Kelley is my favorite. I might have to watch one this weekend now. πŸ™‚. XO- MaryJo

I know! I’ve been thinking the same thing. I love to watch them on rainy days but I don’t think we’ll have any of those for sometime and I bet the TV is going to be full of football for a while. πŸ˜‰ I’ll be squeezing one in somewhere though. Have a great long weekend.

It’s a good thing “love” and “fall” are both one syllable… You’d be in trouble if you had to use ‘autumn’. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for hosting!

I am one of those persons that hates when stores and people jump into another season too quickly, and now I have become that person! LOL. Here in Minnesota has been so incredibly hot, that when the temperatures cooled, is like someone flipped a switch and I was all about fall. I have been fairly good about not decorating just yet though. LOL

    • September 1, 2024 / 1:36 am

Uh oh! I wonder how much longer you’re going to be able to hold off?! I won’t do the outside for fear of what my neighbors will think but if we ever get a cool snap, I’m totally decorating the porchette! Hope the pumpkins and cornstalks get to the store soon! Thank you Angie. πŸ™‚
