Farmhouse Friday 350!

Spread the love

Hello friends and welcome to Farmhouse Friday 350.  My heart feels heavy this week.  We have been helping victims of a tornado and the homeless.  There have been so many heartbreaking stories.  Just two stories are a momma lost her 2 yr. and 5 yr. old children and another lost his wife and young daughter from the tornado.  It makes me sad for the families, angry at the enemy, and thankful for the goodness I’ve seen in people serving them.  So I continue to pray for His mercy, grace, and peace where we see none and to find joy where we can.

Onto happier things and why you’re here.  This week on the Pinterest Challenge we shared some Father’s Day Picnic ideas.  Check them out if you’d like a fun way to honor the guy(s) in your life.

Around here, school is officially out for summer.  So I thought a theme of crafts for kids would be a good idea.  It might help the parents and grandparents alike if the littles come for a visit.  🙂

It’s been heartbreaking to watch the destruction in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. I would imagine your help and support is such a help to anyone who has been touched by this tragedy. Doing what you can is such a wonderful gift. Thank you for hosting this week, even with all this sadness around you.

That is so sad about the loss of life during the tornado’s. We had a tornado here too, but thankfully no one died, just trees and buildings destroyed, no power for almost 24 hours, fried appliances, etc. Thank you for the party. Great features this week. Love the ladybugs.

Glad you are okay Amy. We have lots of limbs to clean up but that’s it. Waiting for it to quit raining to get out there and do it. Thanks for the visit.

My heart goes out to all who have been touched by this destruction and most assuredly to those who’ve lost a loved ones. I can only imagine how much these people appreciate your help and that of other volunteers in the area. May God be with you all!

We used to live in Texas so I know about the horror of tornadoes there. Many/most of us here at least have a basement or cellar for cover. That helps. You’re so kind to help others in the aftermath. Thanks for having us over, Cindy. Take care and hopefully a good weekend!

I’ve asked before why we don’t have basements and the Mister said because the ground is like rock and it would cost a fortune. Being in “tornado alley”, I think we should make an exception and get one anyway! Thank you Debra. Things are looking up. 🙂

Praying for all those who were in the storms. I have cousins here in Okla. who were blessed with no one hurt but out buildings destroyed. It always makes us wonder about deaths even though we know God loves us.

    • June 1, 2024 / 12:41 pm

I agree. It’s hard to understand and hard to sit with the thought that His ways are not ours. Glad your cousins were okay. Stay safe up there.

How sad to hear about those two families, and I’m sure there are more. Praying for them. Thanks for hosting, in the mean time.

The 2 and 5 year olds were being babysat by their 12 year old sister. She put them in a closet and went to get the 10 month old baby out of the crib to go to the closet. The tornado hit before she got to the closet. She was found under debris still holding the baby, and they both survived. The man who survived lost his wife, 15 year old daughter and 9 year old son.

    • June 1, 2024 / 12:53 pm

Oh, that is even worse than the neighbor told us. I cannot imagine the heartache and the sorrow in the days to come. Thank you so much for letting us know DeeDee. I will tell my friends. Continued prayers for each of them.

We were very close to the path of the storm. We stayed up till midnight, listening to our weather radio and watching the “hook” on radar. If our son and his family had not been visiting, we would have gone to the basement to be closer to our storm shelter. My husband didn’t want to worry our 14 and 16 year old granddaughters. It went south of us, but was way too close for comfort.

    • June 1, 2024 / 12:57 pm

Sometimes we don’t hear the siren warning and it’s literally a few blocks away. Wish we had a storm shelter or basement. So scary. Glad y’all are okay. And thank you again for letting us know about those two families.
