Hello friends. If you stopped by today for Farmhouse Friday 243, thank you and I’m looking forward to seeing your creative ideas and links.
I’m sure most of you know by now that my cohost Michelle, from The Painted Hinge and another dear blogging friend Paula at Sweet Pea, are no longer with us.
It’s been a rough week to say the least. I cannot imagine the hurt their families are going through. We all grieve in our own way but some hurts run deep so please please keep them in your prayers as well as the situation in Ukraine and Russia. Some of us have the Lord so we know, see and feel hope everyday. Others don’t. If you are struggling, depressed, ill or just need someone to talk with, reach out to someone you know that won’t just give you lip service. Real feelings and thoughts need to be heard before it’s too late.
I found a photo years ago of a fall front porch on Pinterest. It was by Michelle and I immediately loved her style. We were opposites in most ways but had a love for farmhouse decor in common. She was always so sweet, a huge encourager and kept it real. If I asked her a question, she never candy coated anything. I appreciate that in a person. Then, when she needed help with the Farmhouse Friday link party, I was beyond honored and thrilled to be asked to cohost. It felt like running into a movie star at a restaurant who asked if I’d like to sit at their table and share stories.
I’ve been wondering how to honor Michelle this week and the one thing she loved as much as me is decorating. So besides our spring-filled features this week, I want to share 4 of my favorite spring posts from Michelle’s blog.
#1 – Spring Tablescape in the Dining Room by The Painted Hinge
There are so many things to adore about her table decor. The flowers with the napkins, the tiny wreaths hanging on the bunnies ears, the nests and neutral colors. Spring perfection.
#2 – A Farmhouse Easter Spring Home Tour
She really had a talent for vignettes, didn’t she? That’s another one of the many things I loved about her. I could stare at her photos forever soaking up all the textures, colors and cuteness.
#3 – A Farmhouse Spring Mantel in the Master Bedroom
We both had a love of mantels both real and repurposed. And she too liked to switch things out seasonally. We often patted ourselves on the back at how we both had decorated in similar ways. Like adding plants or greenery balls on the candlesticks instead of just candles. Mine were always fake and hers always real.
#4 – Entryway Ideas to Spring into Summer
This is probably my favorite look in her entryway. Besides a knack for creating wonderful vignettes I think the way she decorated was always charming and her style will stand the test of time. I’ll look back at this photo in 10 years and still love everything about it. It’s vintage farmhouse at its best.
Paula and her sidekick, Sherman
Paula at Sweet Pea was the friend that made me want to DIY. She created so many cool pieces and amazed me with her inventiveness. She had such a great attitude and you’d never know she was ill or in pain. Even when she lost her hair and went shopping for a wig she was laughing and having a good time. Always positive, a true inspiration and trooper to the end. She always supported us at the party. Since the beginning, I think the only post she missed was last week. Julie at My Wee Abode and her cohosts also honored Paula on TTA so click over to see those.
Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. 28 My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. Psalm 119:27-28
Now for this week’s features from Farmhouse Friday 242
CoCo at The Crowned Goat has a love for pink that makes me smile from ear to ear. You’ll definitely want to see her Spring Flowers Home Tour. Prepare to be Pinthused!
Penny at Penny’s Treasures shows us her favorite spring kitchen looks throughout the years. There’s more than 25! Each one cuter than the next. Check them out!
Rachelle at My Hubbard Home has a fantastic idea for making grocery store flowers look amazing! We don’t have a florist around me so this is perfect! So pretty.
Debra at Common Ground always has the prettiest tablescapes and this early spring faux daffodil centerpiece is just beautiful! Perfectly spring happiness for sure.

A beautiful tribute to Paula and Michelle, Cindy! I remember when Michelle posted that gorgeous Spring entryway and like you, I studied every square inch of that magazine-worthy sideboard. I also remember how she decorated her dining room a couple of Christmas ago and I studied her table centerpiece over and over again. She was such an incredibly talented decorator, a kind and thoughtful woman with a huge heart. Both Michelle and Paula will be deeply missed.
