Hey there! Earlier this month I made a Bee Skep (DIY here) and mentioned I’d show you what I had done with them in the next post. So sorry, life got in the way. I totally dropped the ball but didn’t completely forget. Here’s what I did. I put together an eat dessert first beeutiful tablescape.
Eat Dessert First Beeutiful Tablescape
The tablescape idea all began because I was at the grocery store and saw huge real sunflowers for only a dollar each. I thought wow, wouldn’t those be adorable with my bee skeps? Why yes, yes they would. Let’s get some. π
Consequently, that thought led me to push the cart over to the bakery side where chocolate was the obvious black-and-yellow-bee-themed-tablescape-dessert. I can’t show off my bee skeps without showing a purpose for them. Well besides the obvious cuteness.
Well boy did I ever find a use for them! Check this out. They are my new dessert covers/food cloches! Beeutiful Bee Skep Dessert Cloches! And since they were made with plastic pots, even if a dessert touches the inside, it can easily be cleaned. Just the inside though. I wouldn’t recommend getting the rope wet.
When each friend sat down, this is what was underneath. Aaaahhhhh!!!
I cut the giant frosting covered brownies and stacked them for Cindy-made-sophistication. π I don’t know about you but after a stack of chocolate deliciousness, I’d need one little salty bite. Hello- yellow potato chips! I know, I know… decorator turned practical genius turned glamorous dessert stylist. LOL!
For the centerpiece I used glass bottles, the gorgeous Sunflowers and a faux boxwood garland. Super easy.
Luncheon Menu Ideas:
After eating your dessert first and if you want more than a single potato chip, serve a spring mix salad with a few different vinaigrette dressings or maybe a potato salad. Or serve a savory chicken salad on a lettuce leaf. All easy because they can be store bought and still perfect for ladies luncheon. Smiles and laughter already included.
That’s it friends, an eat dessert first beeutiful tablescape that was so simple to put together, I just may do it again.
Love it! Where did you find the skeps? I have a large one for the garden that I found in the Hudson Valley ( Boscobel Gardens) but have never seen them again. I would love to CASE your idea for a garden party.

Glad you like them Adelle and found the tutorial. They were sooooo easy to make. Enjoy!
Found your directions! Thanks! Off to the store and try them.
I could eat two chocolate towers so now you just need one more person at the table. Love it all! π

Thank you Cindy. Iβm always up for eating dessert first – with or without a bee skep. π
I don’t see a tutorial for the dessert skep cover. Did you use a 5″ or 6″ flower pot and glue the rope around it? I have the tutorial for your first bee skep. Your tablescape/dessert covers are so cute. I love the place settings with the dish towel napkin and the plaid dishes!

The bee skep dessert covers are the same tutorial as the first one you have. It was a plastic pot from Dollar Tree and about 5 inches tall. I preferred the plastic over the clay pot because itβs so much lighter in weight. Thank you for your sweet words Barbara! Hope you make one.
At first all i saw was brownies with icing and thought yummy then, i started reading and noticed the rest, i do love sunflowers and your right bee skep and sunflowers make for a lovely setting. Thank you and have a great weekend sic.

Seems to me that using color is the easiest way to prepare a tablescape. So maybe black or brown should always be included – chocolate forever Marlene!
This is beautiful and the brownies look so yummy! I simply must make a bee skep!
Author
Thank you. Iβm sure Amber youβd put it to good bee skep vignette use! π
I could not find the recipe for the chocolate extraordinaire.

Sorry Denise, I mentioned it was found in the bakery section of my local grocery store. It was simply a huge frosted brownie that I cut into smaller squares and stacked as high as I could to fit under the bee skep. Hope that helps. They were seriously so rich, I couldn’t eat it all at one time! Wowza
Thank you, they look so good, I wanted to bake them as soon as I saw the brownies.

Youβre making me want brownies even now! And I might as well frost them! π
I love your beautiful tablescape! The black and yellow look so pretty together with the sunflowers! After seeing this I will be craving brownies all day!

Thank you! Brownies are one of those things that are good any day, any time, right?! Hope you have a great weekend Jennifer. π

I love everything about this. The bee skep is just absolutely darling…and those brownies!!! Oh my, yes, definitely eat dessert first!

Thank you Rachel. I’m always up for eating dessert first. I have a small sign in the kitchen that says Life’s short, eat dessert first. That’s my helpful reminder. π
Perfectly simple and lovely tablescape, Cindy! Love! Pinned!

Thank you Julie for the sweet comment, the visit and the Pin! Hope you have a fantastic week.
Love this idea! My “room” of “whatever” has a bee theme in it. Love the black and white buffalo plaid plates, can you share where you got them?
Author
Absolutely Sheila. I got the plaid plates at Pier 1 and the yellow placemats, napkins and larger yellow plates all came from Homegoods. Thanks for stopping by.
Well, now I’m craving brownies even more than I already am! Lol! Enjoyed blog hopping with you last week!
