Good morning friends! It’s time for our monthly Pinterest Challenge and this month I’m decorating a cylinder vase for fall you’ll want to show off year round! You’ll see lots of different ideas which I believe are all wonderful and doable. That’s what I enjoy about these challenges. Seeing so many different ideas from one single photo found on Pinterest.
If you’ve popped in from Peacock Ridge Farm, hello and welcome. I’m glad you’re here. I hope you stick around and find out more About Me and maybe find some things we have in common and want to subscribe to the blog. Let’s get started. There’s lots to see!
Decorating a Cylinder Vase For Fall You’ll Want to Show Off Year Round!
Our inspiration comes from Kelly at Live Laugh Rowe. What I noticed about her vignette and plan to incorporate for the challenge is the glass vase, the “filler”, a candle and fall colors.
Supplies for easy fall decoration.
The vase has been around our home for years and I’m sure I got it at Dollar Tree. The rest of the supplies for my interpretation came from Hobby Lobby.
Step one and two for the glass vase.
I know you’ve seen lots of vases with “filler” inside. As I was thinking through my challenge I decided to fill the outside instead of the inside. Remember, these challenges are about what I like and what fits in with my style. And in this situation, I want to make something a little different so the outside it is!
I think what Kelly used inside the bottom of her vase was grapevine. It could be a wreath that fit perfectly or one she took apart. I chose twine to get a similar look. I began by sticking double sided tape all around the outside of the jar and wound the twine up as high as Kelly did with her vase.
The paper flowers are so easy to use.
After the first super easy step with twine, it was easy to begin adding the paper flowers. I used double sided tape for those as well. If you want a more permanent solution, use hot glue or any other strong adhesive.
Coffee beans make a good filler and smell great too.
I tried a few different “fillers” for the vase just to see what it would look like. After adding the smaller jar with a tapered candle, I poured in coffee beans. It looks nice and smelled really good.
In order for the feathers not to fall so far apart, I used a mason jar with a smaller mouth. I love the feather colors together with the flowers!
Faux stems are an obvious choice for a lovely fall arrangement.
The last thing I tried was some dark fuzzy stems. I love the added color and I think the paper flowers stand out even more.
See how decorating a cylinder vase for fall you’ll want to show off year round was easy? I enjoyed all of my choices but since the challenge used a large candle, that’s what I stuck with in the end. You can find lots of different colored paper flowers online or craft stores so the seasonal ideas are endless really. Oh the possibilities!
If you’d like to see one of my older favorite Pinterest Challenges, click here. It’s an outdoor fall tablescape with lots of fall color and using a throw blanket for a table cloth for something a little different also. I love different and I love fall! 😉
Next up is my friend CoCo at The Crowned Goat. She’s has a gift for encouraging women as well as decorating. You’ll love her apple centerpiece idea. Then come back and click on the photo links below to see what everyone else has done. You don’t want to miss them!

And I don’t even think I’m crafty but I like this one. Thanks Rachel.
I love how you can use this vase year-round, Cindy! It’s super creative and I adore how you shared lots of easy ways to transition from season to season without a lot of extra fuss. We definitely need that in our life right now. Thanks so much for putting this blog hop together and for asking me to be a part of it. It’s been so much fun! Big hugs, CoCo

Thanks so much Debbie! It was so easy to put together.
So cute and festive for Fall! I love those red-ish colored stems sticking out of the top of it. Fun challenge this month, Cindy!

Those fuzzy stems are super cute but I found out they are super messy. They are definitely one of those things that you use once and don’t touch again or you’ll be cleaning up fuzz all day! Thanks Rachel
Oh my goodness! I love this idea. S so much fun hopping with you. Happy Fall, Cindy.

Aww, thank you Renae. I appreciate that. It’s late enough in August, I don’t feel bad for decorating for fall now. lol
I love, love, love your cylinder and how you’ve used it in so many different ways. Great inspiration. I especially like the feathers and the pretty flowers you’ve added to the side of the container. Thanks for hosting this fun party every month.

Thanks Marlene. I wish our over 100 degree days were only 6. We are at over 40 days in a row! The neighborhood pool feels like a warm bath. Total yuck! Looking forward to the cooler days as well. Bring on the fall!
Oh wow, those paper flowers are gorgeous and worked so well in all of your different glass jar creations! Now, I’m off to Hobby Lobby to see what I can find! Thanks for sharing such a great idea!

Thanks MaryJo. This is my first time to actually have feathers. Hard to believe I know but I just never even looked for any. Love them too and looking forward to adding them back in next week. Thanks for the link party reminder. Done!
Great ideas for a large clear vase, Cindy! Love those pheasant feathers. I got some last year, and still not sure if I’ll use them this year! They sure are pretty! Thanks for hosting!

Those paper flowers are just the cutest Cindy! So clever to decorate the outside with them and the twine too! Very creative my friend!!
Author
Thanks so much Michelle. As soon as I saw them, I knew the colors were perfect for me.
Cindy this is adorable and you’ve succeeded in thinking “outside the jar”!! I always worry about having decor elements close to a flame and this solves it. Love the twine looped on the outside too. Really fun way to decorate a jar!

Aww, thank you Debra. I noticed the other day that the bottom of a burlap lampshade on the bar next to a candle was black so I’m glad I noticed that! Looking forward to some more fall decorating.
This is beautiful Cindy!

Thanks bunches Tanya. I appreciate that. 😉
What a great idea Cindy. I love how you added the flowers and twine to the outside of the glass. Plus the addition of the glass bottle inside of the globe. Brilliant! Always fun to hop with you. Thanks for having me.
Author
Brilliant – thanks, I’ll take it! Sweet of you to say. Happy fall decorating Wendy.
These flowers are so pretty! Love the different ideas for placing something inside; especially the feathers. The twine & decorating the outside-great idea!
Author
I liked the feathers a lot. First time to use feathers anywhere. Bring on the fall! Thanks Lora.
I love all your versions, Cindy. Shows how versatile a glass vase can be. The idea of using tape is a great one – easier than hot glue and I assume the twine can then be removed. Thanks so much for hosting.
Author
Yep, everything is easily removed to use for another time. I use double sided tape for tons of things. It’s crazy how strong the adhesion is with the tape. Thanks Carol!
Cindy, your vase ideas are so cute! I really like the twine and flowers on the outside of the glass! I’ll bet those coffee beans smell amazing, and they’re a great filler choice! Pinned.
Author
The coffee beans did smell amazing. I’m not a floral aroma kinda girl. Give me a pumpkin spice, vanilla cinnamon any day, all day, all year! Thank you Cindy.
Thats amazing
Lovely write up
