Hello Friends! It’s Christmas in July! I know for some that’s a little bit of heaven and for others it’s oh heck no! I’m not ready for decorating but I have been watching the Hallmark Channel this month and lovin’ it! My friend Terrie at Decorate and More with Tip, asked if I wanted to join in for a fun Christmas post. At first I was like, no way, I’m not dragging out any Christmas decor. Then I got to thinking, since I have a lot of new followers (thank you!) I can share ideas from past posts that I love. A compilation. So here’s Christmas in July, Christmas Decorating Ideas.
Christmas In July, Christmas Decorating Ideas
I’m going to start with our home in Highland Village, TX because most of the other ideas gathered are from the farmhouse in Navasota, TX. Let’s get started. I have eight ideas for you today and many more at the bottom!
Idea #1: Make a bigger-than-life fabulous silver tray wreath. It is quite the show stopper and jaw dropper to all who see it. You can see the DIY here. And it’s not hard to make!
Idea #2: Use garland as a centerpiece. There are two posts for that, one here and one here.

Are you getting fresh with me?
Idea #3: Try and use as much fresh greenery as possible and hang it from light fixtures or a chandelier in the dining room. Each meal had such a warm and cozy feeling. And you can usually get fresh stems free from the large box stores that sell real trees. Just ask for the left over cut branches.
Idea #4: Tuck fresh greenery everywhere and stuff it in unusual places. Like the cream and sugar bowls in the hutch or behind a stack of plates and in many of the little nooks and crannies.
Add it inside bowls with cranberries, candles, antlers and ornaments.
Are your for real?
Idea #5: Use fresh stems in conjunction with faux greenery. Together, the mix takes your arrangement up a notch or two. ๐
Idea #6: I love having candles in every room during Christmas. Not only for the inviting atmosphere but it gives you a chance to do something with them that’s out of the ordinary. Like this bed spring and jello mold. Now a plain old votive candle has character. Especially with fresh greenery added in. Snacks anyone?
Idea #7: Using vintage items that are part of your every day decor look great with Christmas decor too. Like old architectural items for instance. And another bowl with fresh greens and left over ornaments inside an antique birdcage is fun. This snack station is part of the Farmhouse Christmas tour. You can see that here.
Porch Life!
Idea #8: Add something you wouldn’t necessarily use in a different place.
I added one of the cowhide rugs to the front porch one year. We got a ton of compliments on it. Everyone said it wasn’t because of the extra coziness, it was that they would have never thought to do that. For something else not usually seen, how about a real piece of furniture like a tea cart for beverages or a coffee table? You don’t see that every day on a porch.
I hope you’ve gained some Christmas in July inspiration through my Christmas decorating ideas. Don’t forget to check out my other friends! Just click on the name below the photo.

Thanks bunches Pamela. We are blessed to be able to go out into the pastures and clip as many “sprigs” as we want. So I like putting them all over the place! Enjoy your weekend.
Idea # 9 ask to borrow your friends’ mad collection of trays so you can create idea #1 because you’ve been obsessed with it. LOL

Idea #10, friend brings her trays over and we make it together. LOL. I love it too Laura, thank you. It would look fantastic in your home!
Love your fun ideas Cindy.

Thank you Rachel. I told myself last year I am toning things down from now on. Fingers crossed I keep to it!
I love your decorating ideas, Cindy, and your wonderful sense of humor. You are so lucky to have the best of both worlds — city and farm. I enjoy your blog, and thank you for your inspiration.

Awe, thank you so much Miche. You made my day! So sweet of you to say and I’m excited to see you found it inspirational. And yes, we are truly blessed to have a home where everything is within 5 minutes and one in the country when we want to get away from it all. I hope I never take it for granted. Hope you have a great weekend!
That silver pan wreath really is a show stopper like you said. Everything about your home decor says luxurious style. So pretty

That’s so funny to me Leanna that you say luxurious style. Most days I feel it’s dirty sock and piled up shoes style. Not a good look. Thank you for saying that though. I think that’s only at Christmas time. Especially these days when no one really comes over, it’s hard to get motivated to keep things clean and nicely decorated. Like today, you might have to look through an inch of dust to see anything. Just sayin’. ๐
Your ideas are perfect for Christmas. The wreath….Cindy how amazing is this??!! It looks perfect above your mantel. That is one that will be a conversational piece with your guest. I love the old bed spring made into a candle holder. Or at least I think it came from a spring from an old mattress. Thanks for sharing your decorating ideas.

The wreath is probably my favorite DIY ever. I collected those silver platters for years so thank you for thinking it’s amazing too. And yes, the candle holder is from an old mattress. You know I love repurposing! Thank you Terrie.
Wow! All of your Christmas decor ideas are fabulous! How do you keep your greenery from drying out? I love the huge plate wreath and the spring candle. So pretty.

Thank you Danya. I love hearing that! I sprits my fresh greenery almost every day with just water. It depends on how dry it is in the house. I have such brown thumbs, it makes me feel like a real gardener. ๐
Your photos have me in the Christmas state of mind! The silver tray wreath is beautiful! I think that is my favorite! Wishing you a safe and happy rest of the summer! Christmas will be here before we know it!

Thanks so much Chloe. I was not at all in a Christmas mood when I started putting that together but by the end I was looking forward to it. I love that wreath too. Enjoy your summer!
