Happy Fall Friends! The mornings are getting cooler around here and the days a little shorter which for me means I’m late in decorating my porchette for fall. If we walk in the house through the front door, garage door or the back of the house, I think we should be greeted with a cozy welcoming view. So, whether your area is big or small I have 7 fabulous ideas for fall porches!
BIG OR SMALL I HAVE 7 FABULOUS IDEAS FOR FALL PORCHES!
First up – Large Porch Decorating Ideas

I thought this idea was fantastic. Most people add a couple of mums here and there and sure, they look nice, but rarely do you see the entire corner of a porch filled to the brim with lusciousness! Just look at all those tee-tiny pumpkins nestled on the edges. Besides the plethora of pumpkins and mums, what makes this work is the varied height in the corner which happens to be the focal point. Sitting here or just passing by seems like you’re being hugged by coziness. Simply beautiful!
This porch is classy and festive all at the same time. They’ve kept the attention on the front walkway luring you in with simple beauty. To get this look you don’t need a bunch of pumpkins stacked high. All you need are a few floppy corn stalks and a couple of mums. What a great example of less is more. I could sit in that swing all day. So cute!
Now for Medium Sized Porch Decorating Ideas

I’ve never thought of using vegetables as fall decorations but oh my golly, isn’t it so fun?! I believe they are called ornamental cabbages. Which I suppose means nonedible. I think they will look great all winter. Unless you have bunnies roaming around. Then they might not last that long. Those stacked pumpkin topiaries are beautiful too. I’ve had topiaries on our porchette before. The year after is when things went terribly wrong. Click here to see that debacle. And it’s okay if you say bless her heart. It won’t hurt my feelings. I already know.
Everyone wants their fall porch to look great during the day but many of us don’t think about what it looks like at night. Well Kelly Nan did! Stringing twinkly lights throughout her pumpkins, mums and garland is genius! If I had nice non-dead mums I’d totally do this. So inviting!
Small Area (or Porchette) Decorating Ideas
If you’re like me, there’s not much room for a lot of pumpkins, mums, etc. If I wanted too, I can have the decor spill out into the driveway which I’ve done several times but on the actual porchette, there’s not much room. So how about just two urns with lighted pumpkins sitting on top? If you don’t have enough room for two, just add one. That will look fabulous too. Try adding a few leafy stems or wrapping garland under the pumpkin as well. It will give it just a little more merriment. If you already have a pot with a bush or tree inside, add fall garland around it and voila, instant delight.
I don’t know about you but to me chairs always scream come on in and stay awhile. Look at this chair with it’s coordinating mums and pumpkins. I would love seeing this next to a door or at the corner of a walkway. If you don’t want to keep a wooden chair out in the elements, use a metal chair instead. You could also try a wagon, haybale, crate or wheelbarrow. Think of the possibilities!
Lastly, A Front Door Only Decorating Idea
Source: Celebrate and Decorate
If you don’t want to take up any space on the ground next to your doorway, no worries, look up! You can hang a wreath on the door or a basket filled with stems or small pumpkins or you could surround your door with garland like this! Can I get a wowza please? If you’d like the DIY for this, click the link under the photo. That is quite a show stopper/neighbor gawker/magazine winning door right there!
One day I will save my pennies and decorate my entire yard with pumpkins. It will look like the Great Pumpkin has come and brought with him all of his cousins for generations. Then I won’t need any front door or porchette decor. But since I’m so late this year, I’m keeping it simple. But first, I’m off to a different store to get more mums. I just can’t keep the dead ones around any longer.
So many gorgeous porches. I especially love the ones all lit up at night. Such a great round-up Cindy!
