Hello friends!  Last year, about this time, I showed y’all my wonderful autumn woodland tree.  Well since then, I’ve acquired so many new friends I thought I’d re-share that post so the newcomers could enjoy it too.  I received so many sweet compliments on it that it made me think you might want to add one to your fall decor as well.  It’s super easy!

A Woodland Autumn Tree

If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen my fall pictures or if you’ve seen a couple of previous posts like here and here, you’ve heard me say – I love me some fall.  Well I do because it’s all fantabulous!  I’ve also mentioned that it looks like Hobby Lobby vomited all over my house during the fall season too.  Well one of those decor items is my wonderful woodland autumn tree.  It’s so adorable and festive and rustic and fun and glitzy and woodsy and shiny all at the same time.

Aaaaahhhhh – I love it!

Step 1 for a woodland autumn tree by CountyRoad407.com

Start off with a Christmas tree.  I know this one isn’t much to look at.  It even has a gimpy leg on the stand that doesn’t match but about 3 years ago it was marked so cheap that it hopped right into my basket.  Hopped right in! 😉

I’ve always wanted an autumn tree.  Just like the ones you see as you enter the craft stores or Hobby Lobby during Easter time.  Okay, maybe it’s more like July 4th but am I right?!  Yes!  LOL

Once you’ve set the tree up, simply wrap it with leafy garland.  This 4 foot tree took two strands of typical garland.  I’d recommend the pliable garland.  Some of it comes a little stiff and thick.  I chose the really cheap kind so I could tuck it in easily.

Next tuck or hang the woodland creatures.   You can add the decor picks right after the garland if you’d like but I want some of the little creatures to look like they are peeking out of the branches so I choose the latter.

I also use a mix of rustic and glam together for added interest.  Add things that shine and sparkle or things that are heavily textured or natural.  It’s about adding whatever YOU like.  Besides the animals, my stems are pumpkins, sunflowers, berries, etc.  All different in texture and color.

Who doesn’t love little raccoons, birds, hedgehogs, squirrels, owls and a fox or two?

Okay, if you don’t like them, don’t tell me.  🙁

Last is the crazy hair I put on top.  It’s not really hair but it looks almost like a Rooster tail to me.  Actually, now that I see it in a picture, it kinda looks like fire.  You can add whatever you want.  At the “end of season” sales, I’ll pick up things to add to it next year.  It makes me look forward to fighting with the small attic door and dragging it out again next year!

Simple as that.  A wonderful woodland autumn tree (gimpy leg and all).

Thank you for posting this . I’m quite new to your blog & Im loving it.
Your tree is so sweet. I especially love the raccoon- we don’t have them here in England. You probably look on them as pests but I think they are adorable.

Wow, England, how cool is that?! When I was in middle school we had a family of Raccoons that would come up to the back door and eat bananas right out of my fathers hands. I adore raccoons! I think a lot of people find squirrels to be pests around here but I love them too. Pretty much any small furry animal with cute little hands is precious. Welcome Shirley and please keep commenting! 😉

Cindy, such a great idea. I’ve made an Easter tree for years, but I’ve never thought of an autumn tree. Maybe next year!!

I bet your Easter tree was beautiful Carol! Especially if it coordinated with the colors in your home! One of these days I’ll get a really tall one like in the stores. Mmm mmm that’s going to be somethin’! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week.

I love your tree Carol! I also do a ‘seasonal’ tree at my house and if I did nothing else, the tree says it all. I’m brand new here too and enjoyed the post.

Thanks for re-sharing with us newcomers! I love your fall woodland tree, it’s so cute and colorful! My dentists wife used to keep a tree up in his office year round and would decorate it for every single holiday there is and some I didn’t even know we had, lol! I always enjoyed her beautifully decorated tree and yours reminded me of that. Thanks so much for sharing!

Love this idea, Cindy! The colors on the tree are so rich and pretty with the color of your walls. The little critters are so cute!

I dislike the color of the walls and hope to paint them soon! 🙄. Thanks though. It’s fun to look at.
