Hello Friends! I’m so excited today! I’m sharing how 1 Inspiration photo from Pinterest can have 11 different looks. It’s called a Pinterest Challenge! Eleven bloggers all took the same photo from Pinterest and decided to put their own spin on it. And since it’s Valentine’s related we are calling this hop From Our Heart to Yours. Y’all are going to love this! So much so, that I’ve already decided to do several more Pinterest Challenges this year. That’s how confident I am in this fun idea.
From Our Heart to Yours – A Pinterest Challenge and Valentine Wreath
The concept is to show you an inspiration photo found on Pinterest, then to make something similar but in our own style. Something that fits with our home decor and our personalities. Get it? Okay, good. Now let’s get this party started!
Since Valentines is only a month away, we chose this book page heart wreath from TheDIYMommy.com. (Video tutorial here)
It’s lovely for sure but it looked time consuming and a little complicated for this new crafter so it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do. I like to repurpose things and my favorite color is pink so here is what I came up with. You might need to tilt your head slightly and squint your eyes a bit but you’ll see the similarities and my personality in this Pinterest Challenge.
Ready? Okay – now tilt and squint!
What do you think? It’s like the inspiration piece but a little more like me – happy, simple and not complicated! LOL. Here’s how I made it.
Supplies:
1 heart shaped cake pan (mine is well used and the white cake with raspberry filling is a big hit)
Empty frame
1 galvanized metal/wood cut out with string (this one from Hobby Lobby)
Valentine related scrapbook paper/card stock
Self adhesive letters (or you can draw your own)
Pearl Beads ( I used the left overs from this (paper heart craft)
Ribbon (1 the same size as the depth of the cake pan and 1 for bows on end of garland)
Needle and String (for LOVE garland)
Double sided tape
Hot glue gun and Pencil
Steps to Making a Cake Pan Valentine Wreath
- Measure and cut the thick ribbon. Use the double sided tape to adhere it to the outside of the heart shaped cake pan.
2. Decide what size hearts you need for the garland. Mine are 2-1/2 inches tall because the letter stickers are about 1 inch tall. Trace and cut out.
3. Trace and cut out a piece of paper to put on top of the the galvanized/wooden heart (or leave alone). I wanted more pink so I used the double sided tape to adhere the checked paper to the wooden heart.
4. Pull out the self adhesive letter stickers and put them in the middle of the cut out paper hearts or hand draw them.
5. Cut a piece of string about 36″ long and use it and a needle to poke through the paper hearts to make the LOVE garland.
6. Decide how far apart the paper hearts on garland should be. Then add two pearl beads in between each paper heart tying a knot after beads.
7. I fully intend to use this cake pan again so instead of drilling a hole in it, I hot glued the galvanized/wooden heart to the underside lip of the cake pan. That way when it is flipped back over, you can’t see the glue.
8. Turn the cake pan over and add a bunch of hot glue and a piece of string (twine) to make a loop/hook for hanging inside the empty frame.
9. Use tape to adhere the string to the back of the frame and tie on the bows at each end. Super simple!
I think it looks pretty darn cute with the hanging paper heart craft I made last week! If you want to check that out, click here.

Wow, thank you Emily – hearing all that makes me smile. Glad you love it!
Adorable!! What a cute idea!! I admit, I’m lame when it comes to Valentine’s decor…..it’s pretty much a dish towel and a small heart on the door, and that’s it!

I suppose I should make something for the front door. I’ll think about that but decorating for it seems a waste of time. Maybe because it’s more of a one day holiday and not a season? Just like St. Patrick’s day… and that’s my daughters b-day! Her being our “lucky charm” I guess is enough for me. ๐
Cindy, not only have you been a great hostess and organizer, but you have created a wonderful Valentine wreath. Love using a cake pan! Love the pink buffalo check! Love the “stencil” letters. Love the banner. Awesome project. Don’t ever say you are not a DIYer! This was great fun. Can’t wait to do it again.

Carol, you made my month – Thank you! I can see the appeal to the crafting thing now. Maybe it’s when my crafts turn into craps that is yucky?
I love the pink buffalo check you chose combined with the metal pieces. That is something I would love in my home as well. And I love that you framed it (you must have been snooping through my windows and totally got that idea from me ๐). Thanks for hosting this, I had so much fun!
Author
If I lived close to you Yami, I wouldn’t be snooping in the windows, I’d be knockin’ down that door to see your crafts! And the fact you’d have this in YOUR home, is over-the-top amazing to me! Thank you!
Cindy this is adorable. I love how you took a cake pan and made a beautiful Valentine display. I love your wreath. I enjoy working with you on this challenge. Have wonder day!
Author
Thank you Terrie. I’m the first to admit if I can make it simpler, it’s happening and this was super easy! Loved this challenge. Happy Crafting!

Me too! Besides spending less money, itโs fun to see the change. ๐. Thanks for the visit Kathy!
So pretty, Cindy! I have a crick in my neck, though, from tilting my head. And I’m thinking I may need glasses. LOL! ๐ Feel free to link-up at Homestyle Gathering (it’s our first party today!) We’d love to have you!
Author
LOL – I knew you would! Thanks for the visit and I’ll be happy to link up! Congrats on the linky party!

Thanks so much for all you did for the challenge.

It was my pleasure Carol. I hope when we do one in the Spring and Summer that it gets easier and easier. Thanks for the sweet comment. I love checks too, especially pink checks!
This is beautiful, Cindy! The pearls are so glam. I would love to get in on the fun next time you do a craft loop. If youโre accepting new โmembers,โ of course. Please let me know. This is so fun.

Thank you Katie! When you need two pearls for one project but have to buy an entire bag, you figure out a way to use them up. Am I right?! LOL As for the Pinterest Challenge, I’ll be doing more of them soon. Spring is next. Email me (cindy@countyroad407.com). Happy Crafting!
I would love to see some tasteful crafting ideas for St. Patrick’s day! I always decorate for Valentines on the 14th of January to the 14th of February. Then on the 17th of February to the 17th of March, depending on how close Easter is to St. Pattys.
Author
Hmmm, I’ve not done St. Patrick’s Day before because it’s my daughters birthday. She just may love it though. I’ll see if we can squeeze it in. I do plan to do an Easter Challenge for sure. Thanks for the visit today!
I can definitely see your personality shining thru on this one. Funny how each one is so different from one starting point….this was such a fun challenge! I can’t wait to do something like this again! Great job!
Author
Thank you Tara and I agree! It was a fun challenge with such different views from the others. Not one is alike. And I hope the personality shining through says fun, happy and the girl loves pink! LOL
And you said that you weren’t crafty! That’s the cutest thing ever!
Author
Ever? Like in the history of ever? I’ll take it! But I promise you Tammy, I’m really not that crafty. I’m getting better for sure but do all crafters make a huge mess every time they do a project? Not admitting to anything of course. Just wondering. ๐
You are so crafty Cindy โค๏ธ. Love this challenge so fun! Like yours the best ๐
Author
Thank you Barbara. You make me laugh. We’ll be doing more of these challenges. Next one up is St. Patrick’s Day. Do you like to do crafty things? I know you paint furniture. What about doing anything with the grandkiddo’s? ๐
Your version is beautiful! Using a cake pan for a wreath is a great idea and I love how the metal looks combined with pink. Your LOVE banner is also very pretty. The pearls look pretty in between the hearts.
Author
Thank you Paula. I enjoyed making it. But I need that cake pan back! I should have thought about that first. May just go buy another. ๐โค๏ธ
Cindy it is absolutely adorable! Even though I adore Shabby Chic style, I have never really used a lot of pink in my home. Valentine’s Day and spring are perfect for playing around with pink though, so I am going to experiment with touches of pink this year. I am loving that pink buffalo check paper you used!
The cake pan idea is genius! Super farmhousey!
Thank you so much for including me in this fun challenge!

Its ME that is excited you could join in the challenge. Youโve always been so sweet and generous to me! Thanks for the sweet compliment. I will forever love pink. No matter what style I like later. ๐. Glad you stopped by today!
