Okay so last week when I made the vintage inspired pillows (if you missed it, check it out here), I got all pumped up to decorate the outside too. I gathered what we already had, a few dollar store extras, a couple of plants and voila, now the farmhouse looks like a patriotic party on the front porch!
Wouldn’t you like to come visit, grab a cold lemonade and rock the day away with me? I even have a cute little blue chair just in case you need to put down your lemonade. Under the vintage crock are a couple of great magazines too if you get tired of watching the animals.
I bought new plants from Junebug Nursery. Great selection and the owner was very patient and gave us great advice since I mentioned I had a brown thumb. Junebug is just passed the railroad tracks in Navasota if you’d like to check it out. I’ll let you in on a secret – the plants didn’t get re-potted. Since we have an abundance of Spanish moss hanging around I figured I could just disguise them instead. Hope that wasn’t a mistake. :/
A metal star that was originally brown was painted white and added to the short planter/sometimes table/sometimes bug spray holder. To finish this corner, I added a couple of dollar store flags and a vintage cowbell on the antique post. I think the plant makes the rusty planter look great. It’s kind of all crazy and disheveled looking like me some days. ๐
The other side of the porch has two rockers so we can all sit together and chat (well at least 4 of us). At first I decided to put the glass cloche out on the metal table from IKEA. Then I came to my senses and decided it would be disastrous if it got knocked over so instead I opted for the vintage enamelware pot with a plant. Catastrophe averted.
Those festive ribbons adorning the rockers came from the dollar store and have elastic on the back so they fit perfectly. They’re squishy too so it won’t be uncomfortable when you sit down and have to dodge the fighting hummingbirds. They are brave little things and don’t mind at all that we sit so close. It’s crazy – you can hear them buzz right by your head!
Anyway, I hope you want to come visit one day. We could stay busy antiquing or do absolutely nothing. If you do visit,
You’ll see things like this…
and this…
And of course the dogs checking the fences with us on the 4-wheelers. They ride in a laundry basket that’s been strapped down. ๐
Come visit and let’s have a patriotic party on the front porch!
Cindy!

I’d love that Sandi! We could chat and rock the day away then as the day went on, we’d listen to Scout (the donkey) bray/whine and tell us she wants attention. A.K.A. she wants treats. ๐ That would be so fun! Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day.
