A Neutral Fall Tablescape

Pumpkins and vintage items make a great neutral fall tablescape by CountyRoad407.com
Spread the love

Hey Friends!  Today’s treat is so big you can only fit it in our great state of Texas!  πŸ˜‰  My sweet friend Katie from Let’s Add Sprinkles put together some inspiration so you can “Fall in love with Texas.”  Each day you’ll want to check back to see it all.

Have you hopped over from the First Day of Home blog?  Welcome, I’m so glad you are here!  Crissy is so crafty.  When you can, spend some time on her blog and check out some of her amazing skills.

I’ve joined in to show a neutral fall tablescape at the Navasota farmhouse by using things I already have along with a few pumpkins.  No crafting or sewing involved – Woo Hoo!

I started at the bottom with a tablecloth even though I’ve never even purchased a tablecloth.  Do they seem old fashioned or formal to you?  They do to me and we are the least formal family around.  So I dug out a quilt.  It’s one I’ve had for years so it’s a bit tattered but loved.

I added 5 pumpkins all in a row which didn’t look good.  To simple.  So I shopped the house and pulled together other neutral items.  Like a couple of stacked deconstructed books, clear vintage bottles and transformers.  I wanted to keep it mostly white.  You know I love me some white. πŸ˜‰

If you’d like to style your own tablescape, try weaving ribbon through your accessories or consider using small baskets, colored bottles, architectural pieces, fruit, or feathers.  The choices are endless really.

After putting it all together, I liked it but it felt a little empty even though it spanned almost the entire length of the table.

The store is 20 minutes away and I didn’t feel like buying flowers so I clipped limbs from a bush we have out back.  These came from the Wisteria covering the old well.  I couldn’t believe the amount of humongous grasshoppers chomping down on that thing.  If you look closely, you can see the cool pattern they leave behind on the leaves.

I think the fresh greenery is just what it needed to soften the hard edges and give it life.  We’ve had a couple of meals there now and the quilt is still clean.  But when it gets dirty, I’ll throw it in the washing machine and start a new tablescape.  πŸ˜‰

Next up Kitty’s Kozy Kitchen.  I have pinned a few of her scrumptious recipes so you’ll want to head on over there for sure.

There are several Texas Bloggers joining together for some good ol’ Texas Fall fun.  So Fall in Love with Texas and Enjoy the rest of the week!

My pleasure Katie! I love those dishes. They “clack” if that makes sense. I don’t know how they made them way back then. Maybe they are just thinner but the pattern and the sound they make are wonderful to me. Thanks for hosting!

Gorgeous! I love the soft hues on this table with the pumpkins and old books. It would be fun to do something like this when hosting book club.

Who am I kidding….we go to restaurants but it’s a thought! Thank you for the inspiration. πŸ™‚

A book club sounds fun if I had time to read! We need to get together soon. We could meet in the middle somewhere! πŸ˜‰

So pretty! Love the quilt as a tablecloth. I overlook the free greenery in my backyard. What a good idea.

    • October 9, 2018 / 11:26 am

I used to overlook the stems in the backyard too until this summer. Super cheap and they last forever when put in water! Way longer than flowers. Thanks for visiting.

Cindy, I just love the way you pull together a variety of textures and objects for your tablescape! The green stems from your Wisteria and quilt added just the right touch. Beautiful job!

Thanks Crissy. I plan to use quilts more often. Glad you could pop over today!

I LOVE this tablescape. That quilt is gorgeous! You are so clever and creative. My type of decor. Did you happen to meet my lovely friend Jill at Marburger?

    • October 9, 2018 / 11:31 am

We did Laura! She was so sweet and had someone waiting to talk to her. We were only able to introduce ourselves, say thank you for the bracelets and give her the gift. I told her it was from you and she grinned from ear to ear. Thank you! You should read my Fall Front Porch post and hear a little more about our visit. LOL and so true.

Lovely table setting! I like to use other textiles like quilts, scarves, or wool throws on the table. I do have some tablecloths, but rarely use one on our dining room table. I don’t think of a tablecloth as old fashioned, but rather I like to see the patina of the wood. Using natural elements is my style too. Love the different pumpkins now available, the green/blue and the white ones being my favorites. Nice to meet you. Happy Autumn!

Nice to meet you too Sarah! I’ve used a scrap piece of flannel before on the table but usually don’t add anything. Just being lazy I suppose. Thanks for stopping by today!

What a beautiful tablescspe, friend! And such a neat blog hop with just Texas ladies! πŸ™‚

Thank you Kendra. We are having a Christmas hop too and inviting non-Texas livers. HA – Livers sounds like gizzards! Maybe I should have said dwellers?! I didn’t want to say Texas outsiders. LOL Want to join?! We’d love to have you!

Cindy- everything is beautiful but it always is.
    I love the neutral pumpkins!

Cindy, great idea to use a quilt as your tablecloth ~ anything you can throw in the washer is a plus. I especially love your stack of books and how you wrapped them. I have so much burlap that I need to copy this idea. Bringing greenery in from the yard is such a smart idea ~ free and pretty!

    • October 10, 2018 / 7:16 am

Thank you Carol! Free is always good and pretty is a bonus. Glad I didn’t bring in one of the large grasshoppers along with them. I seriously couldn’t believe how many there were. Hope you have fun on your trip! I look forward to reading all about it!
