A fun tour of 3 coordinating springtime mantels

Spread the love

Howdy Friends!  Today is going to be so fun.  I have a fun tour of 3 coordinating springtime mantels for you as well as a week long blog hop hosted by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life.  Yep, each day of this entire week has new bloggers with different styles sharing a spring tour.  You’ll want to come back each day so you don’t miss a one!  If you’ve hopped over from Cuckoo 4 Design, thank you!  I’m so glad you’re here.  I always enjoy seeing how Julia has decorated her adorable, eclectic style home.

A Fun Tour of 3 Coordinating Springtime Mantels

If you’ve not visited here before, you should click on the About Me Page.  Then you can get to know me better so we can be friends.  I love making new friends!  Okay, let’s get started.

I am lucky enough to have 3 mantels in our home.  Only 1 is a working fireplace.  The other 2 were snatched up as quick as I could find them.  I still want one for the master bedroom and another for the farmhouse.  You might be thinking that’s ridiculous but when you think of them or treat them like shelves or tables, they are so fun and useful.

black mantel with blue and white hydrangeas and table settingMantel One – The Dining Room

I use mine for the obvious seasonal display but also as a place to hold some of my collections.  Like vintage bottles, books, clocks, plates, etc.  If you have one in the dining room and is short enough, you can use it to serve food, hold the desserts or the plates, napkins and utensils as well.  Great uses for pretty mantels which can pull double duty.

old metal chicken wire box with bottles and flowers

I typically chose a theme each season for all 3 mantels so they work together for a cohesive look throughout the house.  This year I decided to switch things up a little and begin with a color palette instead of a subject like rabbits or flowers, etc.  The colors are white, green, black and blue.  The first one you see as you walk in the front door is the dining room.

And when I can throw in a little something that’s repurposed, well that makes it all worth while.  Like the metal basket with the blue vintage bottles and flowers sitting inside.  I have no clue what they used this for.  When I found it though it was full of hay.  Maybe to feed goats or something?  Anyone know and can help a sister out here?

sitting are with rattan chairs, standing clock and black mantel with white window pane and flowersMantel Two – The Upstairs Landing

If you were to walk up the stairs you’d hit the landing.  Anyone else think those are awkward spaces to decorate?  When the kids were younger it acted more as a mudroom/catchall for backpacks, coats and stuff they needed to remember for school like planetarium displays or big diorama’s.

black mantel with boxwood garland, topiary balls and blue bottles with white daisies

Now it’s more for a place to sit and chat while the guys yell at the TV in the game room across the way.  When I added the seating area I thought it would stay clean.  Nope.  It’s still a catchall for the sheets, blankets, towels etc. that need to make their way to the appropriate closets and cabinets.

Once you’re in the house and walk past the stairs you come to the living room.  That’s the last of the 3 mantels.  This one used to have a stone mantel that was shallow and super difficult to deal with.  Everything was either wobbly, lopsided or propped up with paper or small pieces of wood.  Not enjoyable to decorate at all.

wood mantel with white candles, floral stems in hanging basket and books

But only after 12 years of small amounts of complaining, the Mister built a wooden surround piece for me.  It’s made with leftover fence boards.  I love that it matches the floor and is nice and deepSee the DIY here.  As you can see, each mantel has a similar look with the colors white (candles, flowers and books), green (garland, topiaries and potted plants), black (mantels and large metal piece as a backdrop), and blue (vintage bottles) to keep them cohesive.

I hope you found a reason to go out and find another mantel with this fun tour of 3 coordinating springtime mantels or at least some inspiration to decorate even one mantel for spring.  Next is Laura at Decor to Adore.  She’s such a sweetie and I love her lavender colored spring tour.  After that, click on Monday and Tuesday’s links.  There are so many unique styles to see.  Remember, in order to see Wednesday – Friday, you need to come back for the uploaded links.  Enjoy!

Now it’s time to see how my friends have decorated for spring.

Oh how fun, 3 mantels. Now I think I need at least one. Yours are all such important focal points in your home and so fun to decorate. I love that you coordinate them. Tons of great inspiration. Thanks so much for joining the tour this season, I always love taking peeks into your beautiful home.

You are so sweet Marty, thank you. And yes, everyone needs a mantel to decorate! I love thinking up ways to change them up. πŸ™‚

  2. March 8, 2022 / 7:31 am

This post is chock full of inspiration! I adore the basket on the wall holding the gorgeous blossoms. So cute and clever! Last night I had a 3 am nudge to pray for you. I’m here for you sweet friend!

    • March 8, 2022 / 1:46 pm

Love you dearly my friend and love that you get the nudge too. Thanks for the prayers and encouraging comment. Big hugs

Love all the mantels. Each one has its distinctive look but a common esthetic. Love the vintage touches.

    • March 8, 2022 / 1:47 pm

Thanks bunches Carol. It’s fun deciding what to do to keep them similar.

Love, love, love your mantels! It’s hard to pick a favorite but there’s just something about the 3rd one that feels extra springy to me. The way the flowers are spilling over the sides of the basket look like a celebration of spring! Also, I can relate to the seating area being a catchall spot. I have one of those in my bedroom… Thanks for sharing your beautiful ideas and have a great week!

    • March 8, 2022 / 1:52 pm

Aww, thank you Shelley. I love the white stems too and how they pop off the black metal piece too. I was thinking I might be the only one that likes black and white for spring. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the visit.

  5. March 8, 2022 / 8:38 am

Oh, how I envy that you have three mantels to decorate! Our Scandinavian style fireplace acts as a divider between the dining and living room but there’s not really a mantel to decorate and I miss that so much! Ah well, at least I can enjoy your mantels instead, they all look so beautiful decorated for spring! Thanks for the tour, it’s lovely to hop with you this week!

    • March 8, 2022 / 1:55 pm

I understand how you could miss it. That’s the joy of having fake ones you can put anywhere! Do it! You’ll love it. πŸ™‚ Thank you Jayne

  6. March 8, 2022 / 8:44 am

You’re so right! Mantels are usually the main focus in a room and you sure know how to decorate them for the new season.

    • March 8, 2022 / 1:56 pm

Thank you Cristina. It’s so fun keeping the looks similar. Already thinking about a summer change. Hope you have a great week.

I love the wooden mantel that your mister built. Your fireplace looks so pretty!

    • March 8, 2022 / 1:56 pm

Thank you Julia. I’m so grateful to have it and I think he did a great job.

…I’m sorry but I am sooooo over white…magnolia farmhouse….that look is nothing at all like the farmhouse I grew up in and visited. I know each to his own…I just scrollπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

    • March 8, 2022 / 2:01 pm

I get it Janne. I think people should put their own individual touches and likes in their homes. Our farmhouse in the country has neutral colors with a lot of authentic touches but I’m not one for a lot of color so keeping it simple is for me. If it’s Instagram you are scrolling through and being disappointed with, change up the accounts you follow. That will show you more of what you liked as a child in the farmhouse you grew up in. Thanks so much for the visit.

  9. March 8, 2022 / 9:20 am

They are all so pretty, Cindy!! I love how you styled them different ways yet they all feel cohesive. Beautiful!

    • March 8, 2022 / 2:02 pm

Thanks so much Rachel. I really appreciate that.

  10. March 8, 2022 / 10:27 am

All three of your mantels look so pretty for Spring! I’m not sure which one I like best! You do such a great job decorating all three, but those hydrangeas on the first and the black pressed tin on the last are just perfect.

    • March 12, 2022 / 2:16 pm

You are so sweet Anne, thank you! I used to use the black tin piece as an inspiration board behind my desk. Last year I decided to cover up all that beige stone on the fireplace just to see if I’d like it. Well, I’ve loved it there ever since. Hope you enjoy your weekend. Don’t forget to turn your clocks tonight and spring forward! πŸ™‚

  11. March 8, 2022 / 12:01 pm

All three of your mantels are lovely… but I love the one in the dining room! Love the color theme you chose too! So fun touring with you this week, my friend!

    • March 8, 2022 / 2:03 pm

I love the dining room too. It’s all that blue/green. Crazy enough, I’m not one that usually likes blue but that shade (like the vintage bottles) is soothing to me. Always glad to hop with you as well Julie, thank you.

How much should I expect to.pay for a mantel, fireplace?
How do you attach it.to.the wall?
Thanks for sharing and inspiring me!

    • March 8, 2022 / 2:09 pm

Depending on where you live, you can find them on Face Book Marketplace from $75 – 250 and in antique stores near you. The price depends also on how old it is and the size. We’ve screwed ours to a stud in the wall so there’s no worry of it tipping over. Hope that answers your questions. Thank you for stopping by and I’m so glad you were inspired today Ethel. Have a great week!

My favorite was the mantle in the LR but they were all so pretty for Spring. Thanks Cindy you did a great job.

    • March 8, 2022 / 2:09 pm

As always Marlene, thank you for the sweet comment. πŸ™‚

  14. March 9, 2022 / 5:55 am

Love all the flowers! It feels so fresh and inviting. The new mantel is so beautiful!

    • March 9, 2022 / 10:03 am

At first I thought the hubs wasn’t going to like all the flowers but he hasn’t said anything yet. Yay me, yay spring! Thank you Lori.

  15. March 10, 2022 / 8:04 am

All the spring blues and greens looks so fresh Cindy, and I love your main fireplace mantel so much that your hubs updated. Every time I see it and your stone wall I sigh a little. The wall basket with blooms is gorgeous!!

    • March 10, 2022 / 10:18 am

He did a great job building that mantel and I love it. Especially since it was free! Thanks so much Michelle.

  16. March 10, 2022 / 8:19 am

Not sure why I never realized you had three mantels in your home!! I’m just a tad jealous! And I love them all!!! The wire basket with the jars and flowers is so unique, I love the huge black tile with the basket of white flowers that just pops so beautifully against the black! And a mantel on the landing… with seating!!!! How fun is that? Love each of your creative displays Cindy! Happy Spring sweet friend xx

    • March 10, 2022 / 10:28 am

People have told me they can’t discern my regular house from the farmhouse in Navasota either so I’ve tried to keep the decor different as much as I can. They are super fun to decorate. I’m still looking for 2 more! I want one in our master bedroom here and another at the farmhouse. One day if I ever have a large porch, I’ll have one there too. LOL! People like cats, I like mantels. πŸ˜‰

  17. March 10, 2022 / 10:15 am

Wow you’re so lucky to have three mantels to style! Your home is just beautiful and each mantel is as gorgeous as the next. I love them all but I think number one is my favorite! Happy Spring! xo

    • March 10, 2022 / 10:29 am

I feel the same way about having three mantels but also think I need more! They are the perfect wall decor for me. Thanks for the visit Tamara!

  18. March 10, 2022 / 3:40 pm

Isn’t decorating mantels the best?? I love the one you put beside the dining table the most…what a great place to decorate! So happy to be hopping with you this week my fellow Texan!

    • March 11, 2022 / 10:11 am

Several people voted against adding a mantel to the dining room but obviously, I do what I want. LOL! I love it too. The mantel is 9 foot wide so it’s a little difficult at times but I’ve really enjoyed it. Thank you for the visit – Texas friend Kate. πŸ˜‰

  19. March 10, 2022 / 7:13 pm

Happy Spring! What fun to have 3 mantels to decorate! Fun to be in this tour with all of you. Your mantels are lovely and so springy!

    • March 11, 2022 / 10:13 am

I appreciate the kind comment Rhoda, thank you. Enjoyed the hop with each of you as well. Happy Spring!

Loving your mantels, especially the first one, I was wondering where you got the blue crocks from? I have. A metal basket that is about four feet long and about six inches wide, but only eight inches high. I have never thought of hanging it the way you hung your metal basket, thank you for the inspiration. I also, wish I knew what mine was used for, I have no idea….

    • March 11, 2022 / 12:28 pm

Yay Cynde! I’m so glad you’ve been inspired to hang it. I would love one that size. I’d add line up a bunch of topiaries in it! Or maybe bunnies or chicks and eggs with moss or vintage bottles (you know I love those). πŸ™‚ I got the blue crackle crocks at Hobby Lobby. 50% off of course. Hope you send a photo of your metal basket when you hang it. I’d love to see it.

  21. March 15, 2022 / 11:40 am

Cindy, This your mantles are so pretty. I love everything that you do. I’m so excited to feature you on The Fabulous Friday Link Party. Hugs to you, my friend.

    • March 16, 2022 / 12:49 pm

You are so sweet and I am so honored to be featured at your new party! Thank you. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

  22. March 17, 2022 / 12:30 pm

You are so fancy, Cindy, I literally don’t know a single person that has 3 mantels in their house! Gah-that is so cool. I totally struggle when it comes to decorating mantels no matter what the season so I’m loving all the different looks you’ve created. They’re all really beautiful! Hugs, CoCo

    • March 17, 2022 / 12:41 pm

Am I fancy like Iggy Azalea or just fancy like Applebee’s? LOL. Hope you know both of those songs. Thanks so much CoCo. I love love love having three mantels. πŸ˜‰

  23. March 17, 2022 / 3:15 pm

All three mantels looks so amazing! I love that you have three to style because you can do a few different things. So much fun! I even went back through your post to see if I could choose a favorite of the three, but I couldn’t . They are all beautiful!

    • March 17, 2022 / 3:25 pm

Aww, thank you Kristin. I love styling each of them. Christmas is harder but spring and summer is my jam!

  24. March 18, 2022 / 9:10 pm

Cindy, I LOVE how you’ve decorated your mantels!!! It is really fun to make them coordinate. I try to do that with our one mantel and the china hutch. Whatever goes on in one has a similar look on the other. So pretty yours are!!! I love the landing with the topiary and grass chairs… sigh! <3 Still looking for a mantel for the dining area… πŸ˜‰

Fun party and I'll be stopping by the other ladies over the weekend; a fun way to end our spring break,
    Happy spring hugs,
    Barb πŸ™‚

    • March 19, 2022 / 7:11 pm

Aww, thank you Barbara. You made my day. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Hope you had a wonderful spring break.

  25. March 22, 2022 / 10:19 am

The mantels are so beautiful and creative Cindy! I really like the flowers over the fireplace. Happy Spring!

    • March 22, 2022 / 11:20 am

Thank you Kathy. You comment makes me feel better! Some days I look at it and think it’s flower overload!

  26. March 23, 2022 / 1:46 pm

Wow! All three mantels are so pretty for spring. I always love seeing the one in your dining room, but the other 2 are amazing as well. That chunky mantel on the stone fireplace is stunning!

    • March 23, 2022 / 3:04 pm

Thank you Christy. It’s so fun having three to decorate and I’m glad you like them. The dining room mantel is so wide that it can be a challenge at times. Still fun though. Happy Spring!
