I can’t believe it’s almost Father’s Day. Do y’all have plans? The Mister hasn’t said what he wants to do yet. He’s kinda moping around mumbling about how Mother’s Day is a big deal and the dad’s get squat. Well that won’t do. He does so much for us and rarely gets any recognition for it. So I thought I’d give him a nice place to relax. A place just for him. Okay, I might wander out there too for a short visit but it’s all about him today with a little pretty thrown in.
A Father’s Day gift that only costs a little time
So in honor of the father to my 3 human kids, 3 dogs, 1 mustang, and 1 burro, here is a Father’s Day gift that only costs a little time.
Dad’s don’t get enough thank you’s, love you’s and I appreciate you’s do they? So I can see why the Mister says they get squat. Maybe they should want mani/pedi’s like us then gift giving would be easy! Oh well.
They don’t want much. Just a little gratitude. A phone call to say – dad, you are the bestest. I’ve learned so much from you. You’ve taught me everything I need to know in life and how in the world am I going to make it on my own? LOL, that last part probably won’t leave the lips of most kids but it should!
I started with the hammock. He loves being outside and for some unexplainable reason, the heat doesn’t bother him. I wish I were like that but Jesus gave me a totally different tolerance for that.
And you know I can’t just have a hammock swaying out there by itself. That doesn’t say gift. It has to be cute and show a little love. Adding a picture of us back when we got engaged doesn’t hurt either. It could make him smile or laugh. But either way, it’s a good thing.
I added an old quilt and a couple of pillows. Most guys, the Mister included, wouldn’t think of luxuries like pillows. That’s why they have us – to show them what the need – right? Haha and absolutely!
Pull out a small table add whatever he prefers to drink and a snack. His fave is ice cream but that will quickly turn into soup so cookies it is.
He loves having the four legged kids wander around in the yard and they like being where the action is. Although, the big black butt was scratching himself on one of the posts and broke a bird house yesterday (insert rolling eyes). Thankfully, we have a dad that will fix it right up. If you’d like to read more about how we adopted them, you can see that here and here.
All this said, your gift doesn’t have to cost money. You can carve out a spot just for him to show how much he’s appreciated. Does he have a favorite recliner or rocking chair? Maybe a place on the porch? Add a few of his fave things and a sweet note listing all the reasons he isn’t overlooked. Don’t spend $3.50 on a card. That is a total rip off. A simple hand written note is sufficient and he’ll treasure it.
So give dad a big hug, a love whisper and a smooch. He’s is way more, does way more and is worth way more that squat. ๐
This is sweet and beautiful!

Later a couple of the furry friends jumped up in the hammock with him. HA! He didn’t think that part was so great. Thanks for popping over to today!
My husband grumbles about the inequality too. But basically he just wants to see his kids that day & hang out! Everyone likes being thought of! Lovely post.

Yep, we all need to be thought of every now and then. Hope your hubby gets his FD wish and y’all have a great week!
That is a great idea. Husbands and fathers really do a lot for a family and rarely get even a thank you. Good reminder.

Thank you Marlene. Thankfully we have our Heavenly Father to carry us through. Big hugs.
What a lovely gift. The thoughtfulness and love that went into it goes well beyond a big box with a fancy ribbon!

Well thank you Kathy! Iโll pass that along to the Mister! ๐
How thoughtful and sweet.

Thank you Nancy for stopping by and for the compliment. Happy Sunday!
That is such a sweet way to say thank you to Dad. I think your outdoor area is lovely and just perfect for the hard workers that dads are. The pretty photo with the frame is also fantastic.

Thank you Mary. He actually liked it. ๐. And that photo is when we got engaged many years ago! We still look like that. Hahahahaha no.
How lovely a spot and to have all your animals around!

LOL. A couple of the dogs jumped up in the hammock with him when he was trying it out. Gotta love all the furry animals!
This is so cute. Do the horses want to get involved in the blog post? The dog always wants part of the action. Great post. Your place is gorgeous.

Thanks Tammy. If I could sit still long enough and not think about all the stuff I should be doing, I might not get up either. But I’m more of a rocking chair girl anyway. The Mister is enjoying it though.
Love this! Such a great idea! Thank you for sharing for Our Inspired Collection!
