Howdy Friends! Well, I didn’t get the chance to clean my house like I’d planned, nor have I made up my mind on which colors to use for fall this year, And I certainly haven’t hauled down any fall decor yet. I know, I know – What kind of a decor blogger am I? I am a blogger that sucks at decision making. One that takes 20 minutes just to pick a carton of strawberries. That’s a true statement friends. No joke. But… I did manage an evening to peruse Pinterest and gather ten fall color combinations for us to look at. Fingers crossed this gets us me in the fall decorating mood. Here’s what I found!
Ten Fall Color Combinations
I absolutely love this first combo found on Star Crush Jewelry. I would never have thought to put a mustard color with plum but wowza, it’s gorgeous!
Next is this photo from Pinterest/Last Footprints that looks quite ominous. But to me, there’s nothing ominous about it. The color combination is so striking. This would look fantastic in a room with wheat colored floors and neutral surroundings. Oh yeah – That’s a couple of my rooms!
These yarn balls from Adknits.com are a nice traditional color combo. I can always see myself using these. These colors would look great together in pillows and throw blankets on a brown or gray leather sofa. Woodsy, rustic and sophisticated.
The bird photo below from Flickr.com has almost the same exact colors as the one above but they are a slightly brighter. And my golly, those birds are beautiful! If you prefer bright bold color for fall but don’t want the typical orange, this combo is for you. I love the teal and rusty red together.
I think the picture below found on Soon to be Charming would be perfect for a home that has mostly sunny days in the fall. Maybe a home on the ocean or in Florida, Arizona or Nevada? The greens are so soft but all together, they are some happy hues for sure!
This one is almost winter looking because of how dark it is but a muted mixture of blue/green and cinnamon are a lovely blend.
You can never go wrong with golden hues like these found on Ave Mateiu. But all of them together kinda make me want to eat some corn on the cob or maybe pumpkin pie. LOL – What’s up with that?
These log slices found on Colorpalette.net look so similar that it’s hard to see all the different subtleties in them. But they are definitely perfect for a brighter fall tone on tone look – like a Caramel Macchiato or pecan pie! Mmmm. I must be getting hungry.
Take a look at these colors from Creative Market. Some of us wouldn’t think to add these colors together either but the mauve and gold look so nice together. The added gray in the background makes the other colors really stand out. Thank you Mother Nature.
Do you consider these pale beauties to be fall colors? You can see pumpkins come in several blush color variations. I can see these in a Victorian styled room, a romantic bedroom, a little girls room or even in a bathroom. Any room where you want the palest of fall color.
What do you think about all of these ten fall color combinations? Do they make you want to pull out your fall decor or your hair? I think I’ve got a mental picture of what I’d like to use this year. Next step is finding the colors but meanwhile, I’ll be grabbing a sandwich.
In short, I better get on the ball if I want anything to get done before October.

Wow! Such beautiful photos! I am in Love with Last Footprints! So beautiful. It reminds me of growing up in Oklahoma. I’m not sure you could go wrong with any of these combos.

Yep! When I saw that photo of the fields in Oklahoma, I stared at it for several minutes Tammy. It’s mesmerizing to me! 🙂

Hope that’s a good wow Gail and not a now I’m even more stuck than before wow? 😉 Enjoy your weekend!
I love this post Cindy, so much color inspiration. As it turns out, my color scheme for fall this year was unplanned but happens to be very close to the three in a row photos you shared of the yarn balls, bird and leaf. I found a pillow I really loved that had all of those tones and used it as the main inspiration. I really am not ready to decorate fully for fall, I am still enjoying my sunflowers in the living room but blog land is moving on with fall with or without me, so I best get on with it! I have a fall home tour coming up on Wednesday so I have been playing around with those colors.
I am pinning this post for future reference. I love anything fall…especially the colors!

I feel the same way Amber. Blog land is moving on with or without me and I better get moving! I can’t even choose a favorite because they all are so fun and festive. But after a slight cool down last night (even though it’s back to 99 today), I’m ready to decorate for fall. Especially with all the inspo in IG! Looking forward to seeing your home tour. Thanks for the Pin too!
Sharing on the weekend edit this weekend! love this, laura

Thank you Laura. There are so many beautiful combinations, it’s hard to not to like them all.
Thanks for including some of the fall color combinations from Soon To Be Charming! Fall colors are so inspiring. I love seeing other combinations too…thanks for sharing such a great round up.

Thank YOU Amy! There were so many beautiful combos I could probably have gone to 20 but that’s just toooooooo long of a post. 😉
Hi Cindy these are all great actually. I feel you decorate with what works for your decor for all holidays some more than others.
Our home is filled with dried hydrangea all season. First they’re free from our yard and second dried Limelights make me feel fall and make me happy. Just add pumpkins and a touch of dried lavender and I’m beyond happy

Sounds perfect Cindy. Plus free is always best, right?! Thanks so much for the sweet comment too.
I am a traditionalist and think that the yarn balls are beautiful colors. I also like the brighter colors of those beautiful birds! All those color pallets are beautiful and would freshen up any room for fall.
I’m a Texas girl and sometimes just totally miss Fall and Spring altogether because they are so short!
Author
Yep, us Texas girls have to force the spring and fall decor for sure but with fall being my favorite, I can’t miss it! The Mister and I have decided to take a vacation up to the New England States son just so we can enjoy it more and see how fall is for all those other non-Texans. LOL. I just might have to stay. 😉
Oh my goodness these are wonderful! I never quite get my fall colors coordinated (which is odd since it’s my favorite seasonal decor!), and this will help so much! Now to choose. . .
Author
LOL Karen, choosing is going to be hard! But I’m in the same boat. I really love that ominous photo with the wheat and dark gray sky though. Ooh la la!
Cindy, I love them all! Now how to choose? And the photos are gorgeous, especially the one with the dark sky and golden wheat!

That’s my favorite too Carol! It’s a field in Oklahoma. Saw that same type seen this year when we drove through Kansas. But I really think that’s my combo this year. So beautiful!
That’s one thing about nature it has so many colors to pick from, and now you have give me more. I’m glad i’m not a blogger cause i can decorate when i get my mind made up,lol!! Thanks and i can’t wait to see what you do and the colors you pick.
Author
Thanks Marlene. I still haven’t made up my mind but need to get on the ball! I usually dread the whole transition of removing the summer decor and finding a place to put it but this post has made me a bit more excited to get off my rear end! Hope you have a great weekend.
What a great post, I love color palettes and autumn is my favorite season! Purple and gold were my highschool colors so I’m a little partial and they are complementary on the color wheel. I’m also really loving the teal blue as an option which also happens to be complementary to shades of orange. (Can you tell I’m a little obsessed with the color wheel, lol!). Color is so fun! We are building a new home and I’m really wanting to keep my backgrounds neutral so I can play more with colors in my accessories and seasonal decor. Thanks for sharing this!
Author
How fun to be able to build a house! If we ever started over again, I’d definitely go neutral just so I could play around with that color wheel. 😉 The plum and gold photo was a favorite. I had never seen that combo before but how gorgeous that would be for fall. Our school colors were blue and gold; typical and not so pretty. I can see why you’re partial. Glad you liked the post Vicki!
Oh man… Now I want to change my color scheme! Oh well! Next year! Pinning this, and what a great idea for a post! Smart lady! Congrats on your feature on Thistlekeeping!
Author
Thank you Julie. I was excited to see it on Thistlekeeping today. I’m finally narrowing it down on my color scheme. I went to the store and was about to purchase some pillows when I remembered I already had some in that particular color. LOL! I left the store telling the person about to check me out that I’d be back but needed to go through what I already had first. 😉 Thanks for the Pin!
I stay pretty much with my black and white thru ALL seasons, adding just a touch of another color..aquas for summer, reds for wintertime, and not caring for the fake bright orange leaves and etc at fall, I am adding a mustard color here and there. Fall decos are not my favorite at all, saving my energy for Christmas.
Author
I think black and whites are a great choice for an all year round look. I’m loving the mustard yellow too this year and will most likely is something like it because of our floors being such a warm honey color. Thanks for visiting!
I love these color combos so much! It’s such a fun way to celebrate fall!
You are amazing friend!

What a great blog. I never knew there were so many different variety of Fall color combos. I love them all and would love to see each color combo styled in homes. Love this Cindy. I am pinning it to have for Falls to come.

Awesome Terrie! Glad you liked it. I found myself staring at the pictures for a long time. 🙂 Thanks for the PIN too!
Great post Cindy. I certainly know which ones I’m attracted to.

Thank you Carol. Getting out my fall stuff doesn’t make me smile. Guess I need new stuff. 😂
Lovely post Cindy. The colors of Fall are so fun. Love the inspiration photos. Thanks for sharing at “Love Your Creativity.” Have a wonderful weekend.
Author
My pleasure. Thanks for the visit. And I still haven’t decided what fall colors to do! I’m sooooo behind!
Beautiful color combinations. I am not very good mixing colors, those are great ideas.
Author
Thank you Loren. I hate just having to pick only a few colors to work with each year – it’s hard with so many beautiful colors. Can you tell I love fall?! 😉
I love the softer pale colors! That’s how most of my house is decorated year round. I love the bright splashes outside, but softer colors inside.
Author
I tried the soft colors outside last year and they looked terrible with our brick and door color. Then I painted the front door and now I think the bright colors I like are going to look yucky (insert rolling eyes). I won’t get to see until it cools down. It’s still 99 degrees here and I can’t bring myself to do it. I bet your home looks fabulous in the fall with the softer pale colors. Many people don’t use them but I love them too! Glad you visited today!
I love your color combinations!
I have been painting some pumpkins pink just for fun:)
Happy fall!!!
Hugs,
Kippi

I bet they are beautiful Kippi! Are they a pale pink? I saw a home last year that did fuchsia and orange for fall. It was interesting and I kinda liked it. 😉 Thanks for the visit!
