Our weather here in Texas has me craving change and spring. When that happens, I browse my Pinterest Board called Spring and Summer Time Decorating. I am always so inspired by what I find on Pinterest. The ads are annoying but as a blogger, I understand so I just grit my teeth and keep scrolling. 5 Sensible Spring Decor Ideas For 2025
The entire reason I used the word sensible in the title is because I’ve seen some people paint an entire room a new color for spring. I’ve also seen people wallpaper a ceiling for a “small” change. Some have purchased all new furniture. I am not about to do any of those things. I’m cheap. LOL. I enjoy buying a few things here and there but for the most part, I want to incorporate things I have hidden in a closet or move things around from one room to another.
Sensible to me means not hard to duplicate or it’s substituting something similar from my stash. I’ll explain why each photo is doable and practical so both of us can feel accomplished and happy when the time comes to add spring touches to our home.
Sensible Spring Decor Idea #1:
Thistlewood Farms
My fun friend KariAnne from Thistlewood Farms inspired me to add small amounts of greenery on the shelves of my hutch. Really, they would look fantastic just about anywhere. If you don’t have a hutch, add real or faux greenery where ever you can. On top of a bookshelf, in little nooks and crannies, in a collection of coffee cups, decorative bowls or over doorways or on chandeliers. No matter if it’s 2025 or 1905, greenery can always liven things up.

Celebrated Nest DIY Topiaries
With all of those greenery choices, topiaries are one of my favorite spring decorating ideas. Regardless of shape or size, they remind me of sunshine, large windows and white sheers blowing in the breeze. All you need is a container, something to create the shape you like and a real or faux plant. Green thumbs are optional. Here’s a DIY if you’d like one.

Confessions of a Serial DIYer
Everyone seems to be shopping at thrift stores and redoing the stained, ugly or outdated lampshades. And why not? You can save a lot of money that way. You’re also saving the planet and you can customize it too! I’ve seen pleated fabric shades, some made with ribbon, and some with wallpaper and even straw. You name it, I bet someone has redone the shade with it. Then if you get tired of it or when autumn rolls around, you can easily change it again or find another at the thrift store.

Liz Marie Blog
We all have plates. The thrift and antique stores have plates. What I love about this dish wall by Liz Marie Galvan is how it works in a living room. I’ve always had a hang-up about plates being hung anywhere but the kitchen or dining room. This photo inspires me to do what I want and put them where ever I please. And to see these in one of my favorite color combinations (green and white) makes me smile. It all looks so fresh!
Sensible Spring Decor Idea #5:
Live Oak Nest
Something else we probably all have and I that find practical and inexpensive is baskets. You can find them anywhere. Some for less than $2.00. And if you find one that hangs (or make one with rope or ribbon) it’s super easy to add flowers then hang it anywhere you want color, vibrancy and loveliness. If you want real flowers, add a plastic bag large enough to hold water (or rubber band it around the stems) and voila – fabulous! If you want to use faux flowers, they need nothing to sit inside but if your basket needs structure, add flower foam and boom – more fabulousness!

Changing out your pillow covers is a go-to for every season. It’s not a new idea but it’s one that will stand up as a grand gesture. Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, Target, Pottery Barn… there are so many places that sell just the covers. I highly recommend pillow covers. They are so much easier to store away.
