An Easy Winter Wonderland Dessert Tablescape

Have you ever styled a table around one super cute object and it turned into something fun and exciting?  That’s what happened to me this weekend.  Our Lifestyle of Love theme this month is wagons or wheelbarrows.  I’ve gone miles and stopped at every antique store around only to have zero luck in finding either.  The next step was Amazon.  I found what I think is a wagon/wheelbarrow.  I realize they are two different things but the description on Amazon says both.  So, that’s how an easy winter wonderland dessert tablescape began.

An Easy Winter Wonderland Dessert Tablescape

Essentially, I’d prefer to share an antique piece or at least a vintage cutie.  But sometimes you just gotta be creative.

Because it’s a little wheelbarrow (going with that since it only has wheels on the front) it’s not like I’m going to push around a bunch of logs or yard debris.  Instead, its miniature stature makes it perfect for tabletop usage.  Which, by the way, sounds much better than outdoor work.

My winter wonderland tablescape came together when I decided to portray an outdoor winter scene.  When I picture a winter scene, it’s woodsy and everything is covered with snow.  Like a Montana postcard.

To get started, I first used our white table for the snow.  If you don’t have one, a white tablecloth works just as well.  Then I decided to serve white desserts and set it all up as a centerpiece for a grab-it-yourself type tablescape.

I cannot have a dessert party for friends without cake.  This particular store-bought cake had colorful fruit on top.  That was more patriotic looking than winter wonderland so I scraped off the fruit and added blanched almonds to the top and side for more texture.  My golly it was so easy and took about 5 minutes to transform!

To hold the white yogurt pecans, peanut clusters, pretzels and coconut chewie’s, I pulled out some of my handmade pottery.  Make sure the serving bowls are different sizes to help with varying heights.  That’s what makes a table interesting – different heights.  And remember, don’t add anything too tall that blocks the view of your guests unless it’s maybe your mother-in-law.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Because I like a little something salty after eating something sweet, I added a 2-tiered tray with white sharp cheddar cheese and pretzel sticks.  You can never go wrong with cheese.  ๐Ÿ˜‰  Especially if you offer a little white wine, right?  I’m more of a tea drinking kinda girl but you gotta have choices.

Have you ever heard of Hester and Cook?  They offer party goods, placemats, party gifts, etc.  You will never want to set a table or host a party without something from them ever again.  Their products are addicting and can transform any boring table to an amazing table.  Their set of serving papers added the perfect amount of green color to mine.

Back to the wheelbarrow.  It’s holding the cloth napkins and silverware for now but think of all the things it can hold for other parties. Like: Paper cups, plates and napkins.  Or popcorn!  Or you can turn it into a mini veggie bar.  What about using it on a hot cocoa bar?!  That’s probably next.  Oh!  What about holding a small tree and your Christmas Cards?  So many things!

I hope you enjoyed an easy winter wonderland dessert tablescape because I seriously enjoyed creating it.  Now to have the friends over to help me eat it all.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next up is Debra from Common Ground.  You will love how she decorates with her cart and wagon.
