As I was thinking about this post I realized I’ve written a smattering of other posts around baskets. I also noticed that since then, I’ve collected even more. So today’s Lifestyle of Love hop will be about the new baskets around the house and possibly a few oldies thrown in. How do I love thee, basket? Let me count the ways.

I appreciate vintage, quirky, and classic things. And rarely is it trendy. I want to spend less overall to save for the pieces I’ll cherish for donkey’s years. Can anyone ever really have too many baskets? I don’t know if it’s the shape, the color or the size but I can’t get enough. They are so handy. You can hang them, stack them or even leave them be and they are standalone marvels.
Folding an old doily over the rim added more vintage charm and character to a new basket.
I have a semi-large basket collection that hang. Whether at our everyday house or at the farmhouse, I’ve hung them all over the place.

If you think they are too small to make an impact, hang the basket on top of something larger. Now both of the antique pieces are more noticeable.
Use hanging baskets for multiple seasons and holidays. It’s delightful to see how many times you can use the same basket but have multiple looks.

This woven basket is primarily used for magazines. But I’ve also used it during spring for a vignette using flowers. That was fun.
Have you ever thought to add a fabric basket on your front door instead of using a hanging basket or a wreath? I used suction cups to adhere the one I made. It’s a fave and you can see the DIY here.
Speaking of outdoors, this basket was first used on the porch then on the hutch in the entryway. I tried using it for plants but because of it’s droopy sides, that didn’t go well.
Considering the size, you could fit a basketball inside which would make a great weapon. And I don’t think that particular woven pattern is traceable. At the least it would give you time to run. Although I picture the perpetrator picking it up and using it like a dodgeball. You must serpentine! lol!
These 3 vintage baskets below are sitting above the kitchen cabinets. One of these days I’ll get around to sharing the entire kitchen. The grouping looks really good with the vintage paintings around the room. But the best part of these baskets it that not one of them cost over 15 dollars. Hooray for bargains!

Here are a couple more that I enjoy using over and over again. Not every basket needs to hang but with dogs and several dust bunnies running around, I prefer it.
And not all baskets need to be woven or made of some type of straw. Metal baskets are plenty cute!
And so are crocheted baskets. Whoever made this one must have starched it as it was being molded because it’s nice and stiff. I’ve used it to carry pie’s and casseroles and the bottom held up just fine.
And last but not least, the set of 3 hand painted nesting house baskets were found at an antique store and the entire set was only $5 dollars! I have no clue why but I’m thinking sellers remorse kicked in soon after I snatched them up. Who wouldn’t want these little cuties?!
One of the baskets is holding the cups, plates, and napkins for the snacks and lemonade on this fun summer porch. The smaller one is housing the sunscreen and mosquito spray. I know, right? So clever!
So when I said – How do I love thee, basket? Let me count the ways. Do you get it? Did you understand? Baskets make the perfect gift. They are found everywhere and come in every price point imaginable. Soon I’m going to need a dedicated basket closet. Now wouldn’t that be fabulous?!

Love these basket decorating ideas, Cindy, they add such a pretty layer of texture both inside and out. One of my great aunts used to starch her crochet pieces and turn them into ornaments so I am over the moon excited to see your crochet piece used for pies. That is so cool! Thank you CoCo. I would love to have some crocheted ornaments! I bet they were little angels and bells. Learning how to crochet is on my hobby bucket list. It’s becoming quite long. lol.

Have you seen the little mushroom house baskets? Gaaah! So cute. I don’t have anything mushroom anywhere so I refuse to bow to the trend but oh my, they are adorable. What a sad situation to have so many baskets you have to store them in several different places. 😉 That would be a fantastic predicament!

When I was young I never liked my moms decorating style. Spanish style red sofa’s with heavy wood tables and a velvet Elvis print. Not sure that will ever come back in style. Hahahaha! I do love the cottagecore and grandma chic though! Thank you Debbie. 🙂

Cindy, I can’t decide which of your charming baskets I like best – that tall skinny white one looks SO good hanging on the antique wood piece, those sweet house baskets (a total steal! I might actually come down and steal them from you xx). I love the one with the long handles and how you’ve styled it with the wreath and the quilt. So much charming goodness here. I appreciate that Cindy, thank you! I’d never seen a long white one before so it was a must-have that day and a bargain as well. I think I paid $10. Well, I think that’s a bargain. When I would have paid more for something then it’s a bargain to me. 😉 And yes, I’m melting. But everyday over 100 is a day closer to Autumn. Woohoo!

I can hardly wait to show off the kitchen with its new paint but I have to get it finished first. We still need new knobs. The old ones are chipped (like the cabinets) something terrible. But it’s the journey. One day I’ll share what that grouping looks like with the paintings. Thank you Debra.

Cindy your post was fabulous and certainly generated the excitement to see more and more baskets today! I am cracking up because we both started our posts similarly… (“Can you ever have too many?”) NO! Matter of fact, after reading this post I am twitching to get back to my local consignmnet store for 2 baskets I have been eyeballing for a couple of weeks and telling myself I don’t really need. But there’s no help for it now after this hop!

I truly have basket envy with your collection, Cindy! So many great ones, but I love the little house, the slouchy one and the one by your indoor stairs (esp with that orange velvet ribbon!) best. I just bought what I was hoping would be a cute hanging basket for my front door, and ended up giving to my neighbor because she complimented it, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. Still searching….
