Spread the love

Happy Day friends!  Today is the bi-monthly Lifestyle of Love Hop and we are sharing a few of our precious collections.  Yep, collections!  When this popped up I didn’t think I actually had anything to share.  Then I mentioned it to my middle child and she laughed saying – Yes you do.  What about your plates or pottery or blue bottles (just to name a few)?  Talk about a bright-eyed-bushy-tail moment.  I said, oh yeah – I love those!  So, here are a few favorite ways to show off my cherished vintage collections!

Favorite ways to show off my cherished vintage collections

Blue vinage bottles in a modern farmhouse dining room makeover by countyroad407.com

I have a few vintage blue bottles, jars and insulators.  But to me, it’s definitely not enough.  One day I’ll have so many that when I put them all together on a shelf I’ll have to worry about the shelf holding.  Most of the time they get sprinkled around the house.  I do that to keep the eye moving to the accent color around the room.  Does that make sense?

The unique blue color is so pretty and is perfect to show off during the spring, summer and even fall seasons.  I use them a lot since our kitchen walls are similar in color.

They make great vessels for candles, flowers, plants, flags and buttons.  I’ve also used them as place cards but sorry, I totally forgot about taking a photo.  Just trust that they were so stinkin’ cute!  πŸ˜‰

Aaahhh, the adored vintage plates.

My hoard of vintage plates has to be my absolute favorite thing of all the things.  Since registering for my own wedding, 30 years ago, I’ve had a serious infatuation for them.  I started collecting the old ones when my teenage girls began talking of bridal showers.

Some have chips and only a few have duplicates but thankfully, I have enough for a wedding shower.  And I’m still collecting!  Maybe by the time the first wedding rolls around I’ll have enough for all the guests!  Fingers crossed.

I can’t even with the teacups and saucers!

Does anyone else besides me love all the color, shapes and sizes of antique cups and saucers?  When my MIL passed away, she left behind quite the collection.  At the time, I was going through an “old world” phase and didn’t realize the beauty of the them so I didn’t bring home all I should have.

Most of them are displayed inside a metal birdcage sitting above my cabinets.  The ones inside the cabinets get used for girly things.  I’ve used them for candles, vessels for fruit, cheeses, chicken salad, crackers, nuts and desserts.  There’s no reason they should only hold tea.

At times, I fill a platter or bowl and set them on a table just to gaze at them anytime I want.  No need to keep them tucked away in a kitchen cabinet or hutch either!  πŸ˜‰  These were part of a post talking about what things you can put inside vintage bowls.  If you’d like to read that, click here.

Well, there are a few of my favorite ways to show off my cherished vintage collections!  Next up is Laura from Decor To Adore.  You will love her vintage transferware.  I want some something awful!

I love how you styled all of these different collections, Cindy! I knew you collected vintage and antique dishes but I had no idea you collected blue bottles and glassware. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for you because all sorts of things like that wash up on the beach during hurricane season. As always thanks so much for putting this hop and series together. It’s always so much fun to see what you are up to and you’ve been a fabulous leader of this group. Big hugs and save me the pink tree, CoCo

Yes, I love blue glassware! Honestly, it’s probably the only blue thing I actually like. Too bad they didn’t make pink bottles! Now that I might trample a kid to get my hands on. Thank you for the sweet words of encouragement. Bug hugs!

    Cindy,
You have quite the china collection! I love all the different ways that you display them from the tea cups to the plate stack with the bottle brush tree on top! Can one ever have too many dishes or bottle brush trees? Merry Christmas!

    • December 10, 2022 / 1:09 pm

No, people can never have too many dishes. πŸ˜‰ I had to buy a hutch because the cabinets are full. Now I need another hutch because it’s already full. HA! Thanks so much Christy.

Cindy, it’s so funny how we have similar vintage collections. Love your blue bottles and dishes of course! And I like how you put them into a large bowl. Great idea! Thanks for having me and happy holidays!

I am always telling myself one day when I get to Maine or anywhere near you, I’m going to need a trailer because you find the best stuff! And I’m glad we have similar collections. We are vintage loving kindred spirits! Merry Christmas Ann.

Merry Christmas! xo laura in Colorado

Aww, thank you Laura. The hubs thinks I have enough and it’s getting harder to convince him otherwise. πŸ˜‰

Isn’t collecting fun, Cindy? I love collecting blue and white plates. Love your blue mason jars. I have a bunch of them, too. What a great hop. It’s fun to see what different things people collect and how they use them.

    • December 10, 2022 / 1:15 pm

Yay! Glad someone else thinks it’s fun to see what others collect. I’m always curious to take a glimpse into other peoples lives. The only bad part is usually finding something else I want to collect because of how they shared it! Have a great weekend Carol. Stay dry!

Love, love the vintage cups! We should have taken more of them when we had the chance. I never thought about using them for other things. I will have to try that out.

    • December 10, 2022 / 1:17 pm

I know, right?! We should have snatched up a lot of that stuff. We were just in a different frame of mind back then. And yes, use those teacups like bowls for your next party. You’ll get lots of fun compliments. Thanks Melinda!

Cindy, I can’t tell you how much I love seeing those little chips on your vintage plate stack. I’ve had/seen so many of those patterns and I know they must have been used with love over and over. And teacups… yes, so lovely and varied. I once visited a home where the owner collected cups and saucers and her husband had made her a small shelf that encompassed the room near the ceiling. She must have had 200 old cups and saucers lined up. Think what you can do with yours!!! haha! Thanks for planning and hosting. I appreciate you so much and hope your Christmas season is a beautiful one! xo

Aww, thank you so much Debra. Your comment made my heart leap with encouragement! I can’t imagine having 200 old sets but wowza, that would be something to see! Those are harder to store than the plates so I’ve had to limit myself on those. πŸ˜‰ When I come across more plates, it’s getting harder and harder to remember which ones I already have.
Lucky for me – we all need duplicates too! LOL. Hope you have a wonderful season as well. Merry Christmas.

    Cindy,
I love vintage, and these ideas are so fun. I’m sharing a link on Sunday Dirt Road Adventures.

Aww, thank you Rachel, that’s so nice of you! I couldn’t believe all the NEW vintage treasures I wanted to start collecting. I first have to clear out and make way for them! πŸ˜‰

COLLECTIONS is one of my favorite words πŸ™‚ This post really spoke to my heart Cindy…I just ADORE collecting pieces for my vintage collections. Your plates are so lovely…I bet those are so fun to find and bring home to add to your stack!! What a fun hop you put together for this one….I Love to see what others collect and how they decorate with them!

    • December 11, 2022 / 11:07 am

Thank you Rachel. I too love to see what others collect. I saw so many things I’d never thought of but now want too! Happy Sunday.

So many fabulous collections Cindy. I am obsessed with footed teacups. I love them! Thank you so much for hosting!

    • December 11, 2022 / 11:11 am

The footed cups are dangerous around here. I feel they’ll fall over much more easily and get broken. Definitely made for the more dainty tea drinkers. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the visit Laura and glad you got to join in. I adore your transferware!

You have such fabulous vintage collections, Cindy! I love all the pretty teacups. And your plates stacked high with the pink tree made me smile. Love joining you ladies. Thank you for hosting my friend.

    • December 13, 2022 / 10:39 am

Is it weird that I do collect things but choose to think I don’t?! Maybe that’s my way of staying out of the “hoarder” definition. LOL! Thank you Kim. Have a blessed week!

  12. December 11, 2022 / 3:20 pm

I’m not even one of your kids and I could have told you you’ve got collections;) Love you old plates collection and your brilliant idea of displaying pretty china cups in a bowl. Now if I could just remember that when Spring comes around! Thanks for picking another great topic, friend! Enjoy the Merry season!

    • December 13, 2022 / 10:53 am

LOL Lora! I think I was living in denial hoping for a positive reaction from my family from the word “collections”. That was a stretch. πŸ˜‰ Thank you!
