It’s hot outside.  I’m hot inside.  And being stuck inside is boring.  So what do you do when you’re bored? You get on Pinterest and look for late summer decorating inspiration.  ๐Ÿ˜‰  I found sunflowers galore!  So here are 9 decorating ideas using sunflowers for the perfect transition to fall.  Let me show you some of what I saw.

9 Decorating Ideas Using Sunflowers for the Perfect Transition to Fall

Sunflower season typically runs from mid-summer to early autumn, or from May to October depending on your location.  I’ve never paid attention really but certainly notice when I see them in the flower section at the market.  They are large and in charge.

This photo seems to have them mixed with lemons and covering the entire kitchen.  I’d like this since I don’t like to cook and I’m not sure anyone can stop themselves from smiling when walking into this kitchen.

large table centerpiece with sunflowers, pears, framed print in a wagonCommon Ground

I love how this striking centerpiece is mixed with hydrangeas and pears.  When you place them in a wagon and sit in on a coordinating table runner, you have the perfect arrangement for both summer and autumn seasons.  I’m not sure I realized pears come in such pretty colors.  They are on my list of grabs next time I see pears.

open book with a sun flower on page sitting next to a stack of books and a blue and white potted plantLet’s Add Sprinkles

I love the idea of using books in decor so when I saw this I pinned it for future use.  Keeping an open book with late summer, early fall color on the pages is a great idea.  Seeing this sunflower brings out the colors in the standing books as well.

white tiered tray with sunflowers, fall signs and pearsBy Kimberly Faye

If you have a tiered tray displayed anywhere in your home, this would be an eye-catcher.  And adding a pitcher of silverware along with small plates is charming and practical while using other bright accessories.

Making your own miniature bee skep and using it with a backdrop of real sunflowers in vintage jars is easy and refreshing.  I love the colors of yellow paired with black and white.

Here’s another fabulous idea.  Make your own sunflower centerpiece out of pinecones.  This DIY is impressive and the colors are so well coordinated for the upcoming season as well.

A cloche can make everything underneath it look special.  Even when it’s a rustic wired cloche with plastic pumpkins and faux sunflowers.  This particular cloche was made back in 2020.  I still use it at the farmhouse and get a lot of compliments on it.  For the DIY, click the link above.

It’s a scorcher here this week too. Can you imagine the olden days? I cannot! I would have been the most cantankerous girl anyone ever rolled a wagon up to. Cheers to new A/C!

I couldn’t believe all the different varieties until I looked it up. I love seeing fields of the really tall huge flowers down in Navasota. They grow taller than I am! Happy summer Marlene. Hope you are staying inside and cool.

Love the sunflowers this time of year. I remember when we took our cross country road trip, and how seeing the fields upon fields of sunflowers throughout South Dakota was simply beautiful against the blue skies and white clouds. You could see for what seemed like miles. Black-eyed Susans are another great flower choice this time of year. Love all your inspiration choices here in this post, Cindy.
