Howdy folks! Today is Pinterest Challenge day and we are showing off our fun ideas for using baskets and buckets in our homes. If you’ve hopped over from French Ethereal, thank you! I’m glad you’re here. If you don’t know what a Pinterest Challenge is, here’s the short version. We take one inspiration photo and turn it into something that works for us in our own style. Sometimes it’s easy and other times it’s definitely a challenge but no two are alike! I’m sharing 7 ways to use baskets or buckets to keep life easy AND pretty!

7 Ways to Use Baskets or Buckets to Keep Life Easy AND Pretty!
This month’s inspiration photo comes from Anderson + Grant. In Jamie’s post, she’s transforming a broken picnic basket and I think it turned out beautifully. I’m not transforming a basket. I already like the look of mine but if you would like your basket to have the same lovely patina as Jamie’s, check it out!
BASKET IDEA ONE
I like things to have a place and I like things to be in there place. So baskets and buckets to the rescue. In Jamie’s basket, she has a quilt and flowers. That’s a great way to keep a quilt handy. But how about using towels in the guest bathroom? In ours, the towel bar and counter top are a bit hard to reach as you open the shower so this works well.
BASKET IDEA TWO
When you have a bunch of pretties (some might say crap), it’s easy to forget what you have and I enjoy using my vintage tablecloths, plates and platters. You know the saying – out of sight, out of mind. That’s so me!
BASKET IDEA THREE
I absolutely love using hanging baskets. They make for great wall art and it gives just a little something. They are so cute on a hook or doorknob too. This one is changed frequently. It’s basically flat and the perfect size to make a statement. The photo above is of the mantel in the living room. That black ceiling tin piece is 48 x 48 so you can see the basket is nice and large.
BASKET IDEA FOUR
When I said baskets were great for just a little something else, this is what I meant. Sure the table would be nice without it and some might even like it better without. But I wanted to add a little more oomph and color closer to the floor. It draws your eye around the entry and brings more of the same accent color over here that runs throughout the house.
BASKET IDEA FIVE
Baskets or buckets look great holding plants. This one is here because I HATE WIRES and this one hides the lamp wire. We can send a man to the moon but lamps still have cords (insert rolling eyes). If using a real plant, don’t forget the plastic piece that holds any extra water running out. ๐
BUCKET IDEA ONE
Remember Ms. Stovall? LOL! Who could forget Ms. Stovall?! Just look at those cute galvanized buckets stuffed with greenery. You know I love greenery everywhere and I think whether real or faker-than-fake (don’t judge), it brings life and freshness.
BUCKET IDEA TWO
Yes, we love our dogs and that’s a big-ol’-bucket-o-toys. Easier to toss them into when they are sprinkled all over the room. And not to put a damper on things but I want to say something not related to this post. If you buy three dogs around the same age, keep in mind they could all pass away around the same time too. We are down to one and it’s pretty sad on some days. Anyway, just something to keep in mind.
Okay, back to happy. Did you count all the ideas? That’s 7 ways to use baskets or buckets to keep life easy AND pretty! Up next is my sweet friend Laura from Decor to Adore. Her personality is just as vivacious as her many gifts and talents. Don’t forget to click on all the links below – so many different ideas from one inspiration photo. Enjoy!
Cindy, I love all the basket you have, especially the one with hydrangea blossoms in it! Perfect for hanging anywhere. ๐ Thanks for another great Pinterest Party!! <3
Big hugs,

When I counted up all the ideas and looked around my house for baskets, I was at a dozen and stopped thinking that was overkill. LOL! I’ll have to do another post someday with the rest. ๐ Thank you Barbara. Have a great raining, thundery day. Bleh.
Cindy,
I love all your great ideas. Thanks for including me this month.
Author
Thanks bunches Rachel. I need to do another post with the rest of the baskets in my house. Or maybe I should stop buying baskets?! ๐
HI Cindy,
Thank you again for all you do! I got the code ;0). Okay I love that cow print and I love the plant in the basket next to the fireplace. Great angle! Happy Day friend! xo laura

Yeah, Ms. Stovall is a staple around here now. Soon she’ll be moooving to another wall but I love her too. Thanks Laura!
All of your basket ideas are good ones. I can’t believe that I don’t own a hanging basket. That needs to change pronto! Thank you so much for organizing the Pinterest Challenge each month. It’s my favorite blogging day!

You know what Paula, I hadn’t thought about it before but I think it’s my favorite blogging day too! And yes, you totally need a hanging basket! They are so fun to use. I have a tee tiny one in our guest bathroom to hold back the shower curtain. It has one hydrangea inside. So cute. Thanks
Love all your ideas, Cindy. Goes to show you canโt have enough baskets! Thanks for a great inspiration this month.

Ain’t that the truth?! I had so many more baskets of all shapes and sizes that I could do a few more posts about them. Maybe that’s saying stop buying baskets? Hmmm. Thank you Carol, hope you don’t float away. We’re drowning over here!
So many great ideas for using baskets and buckets Cindy! I too forget what I have when it’s out of sight, so baskets make my decor loving heart go pitter patter ๐

Thank you Cindy. I enjoy doing something with decor each day. Let’s move this candle over here or how about this chair in this room. Are you like that too? Seriously, e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y!
Great ideas Cindy, especially stacking the ironstone platters in the cloth lined basket. I want to try that one. Just need a basket like yours and a few more platters. So pretty and simple! I can’t wait to check out the rest of the posts today! Hugs to you!
Author
Thank you so much Michelle. You probably have a basket that would work and if anyone could actually MAKE/SEW a liner for a basket it would be you (and Laura Ingalls Gunn). I love having them easily accessible. So fun. Going to give you a little advice today LOL! Turn around don’t drown! Are you floating away over there?
Almost washed away for sure LOL! The sun was a welcome sight today. ๐

As soon as I opened my eyes I was so excited. Enjoy it while it lasts!
Okay, my fave is number 5! I love those faux green hydrangeas in the soft ivory color basket! I may have to add some of those colors to My Wee Abode! Pinned!
Author
Thank you Julie. That little cutie has been all over the place in this house. My fave is on the front door because our door is about the same color. I found those flowers at the antique fair in Round Top, TX. As soon as I saw them I didn’t look at the price. I had to have them! ๐
Love your basket ideas, Cindy! I’m looking at my own baskets with a whole new eye now. And I don’t know why we still have lamp cords either! LOL! Sorry I couldn’t join you this time, but I love seeing all the ideas!
Author
Thanks Crissy. It’s nice to hear you found some inspiration with baskets this time around. June is a summer side table or coffee table. That should be fun!
Cindy, so many wonderful ideas! They are just beautiful.
Hugs and blessings to you.
Author
Thank you Renae. Baskets are so handy and I’ve seen some beautiful ideas in this challenge.
These are wonderful posts and has so many ideas, thank you and I am already thinking of what I need to do. I am sorry about your dogs.
Author
Thank you Marlene, I appreciate that. Glad you found some fun inspo and see how you can already incorporate some things. I really do love using baskets. The ones with the lids are even better! They hide so much crap! ๐
Great ideas, Cindy! I can so relate to the out of sight, out of mind:( Yes, putting something or somethings in a basket makes everything feel “picked up”; love it!
Author
I found a bowl the other day tucked way back in the cabinet that I totally forgot about. And I love that bowl! Keeping it out on the counter for now until I can figure out where to keep it (out). Thanks Laura.
Cindy, I love all of the inspiring ideas that you have shared here. The basket with the pink elephant near the purple couch is my favorite. Thank you SO MUCH for hosting. Your hops always bring a smile to my face.
Author
Okay, so I had to read that twice. Then I laughed out loud. You are so welcome Barb! LOLOLOLOL
Thank you. Pinned! All charming ideas.
Author
Thank you Mary for the pin and the visit!
You are so organized! I just love all of your creative ways to use baskets in your home to stylishly display and corral. That light-colored console table with the tall basket is so pretty. This is such a fun Pinterest challenge with many ideas.
Author
Thank you Christy. I do love being organized. I started doing that when I was little. I shared a room with my younger sister who was the piglet. I was always straightening her shoes, clothes and generally cleaning up after her before we were even in school. My aunt says I must have some deep psychological issue because I love to clean so much. ๐
Cindy, I LOVE all your basket ideas, but I think my favorite is the flat basket against the black ceiling tiles. PERFECTION. And I have to know where you got that flat basket? Now I desperately want one! LOL
Thanks for hosting this fun party!

Awe, thanks so much Niky. I have struggled with liking that stone fireplace for years. The black tin piece was my “bulletin” board in my office and just this year had the Mister hang it up there for me. So glad I did. I love it! I struggled with keeping it through spring and summer but alas, it’s staying! Got the flat basket at a store in Brenham, TX. But I’ve seen them in lots of stores that carry gardening and floral arranging items. Here’s one on Amazon. And nope, this isn’t an affiliate link. ๐

I love all these ideas and the way you organize everything in such a pretty way! I can’t choose a favorite. I love all your baskets and buckets!
Author
So glad you like the ideas. No choosing a favorite necessary. Thank you Kristin.
You have so many amazing ideas for baskets! My fave is the one that hides the lamp cord! I can’t stand cords either – in my dream home, everything would be cordless and never needing to be recharged!!
Author
Girl, we are dreaming up the same dream home! Between duct taping the cords to the back of the legs, stuffing them behind things or putting plants in front, I’d take battery operated. But then I’d probably gripe about the amount of batteries I had to buy. At least now we have nice looking LED bulbs. My wrinkles don’t look as noticeable. LOL
I love how you took a Pinterest Challenge and made it even more interesting by sharing all the ways you can use one. My favorite is the hanging basket with the flowers. So sorry to have missed this challenge, so much inspiration here.
Author
Thanks so much Kim. I love that hanging basket too. It’s been in so many different places. And yep, you were missed!
Love love love all the basket inspo! Can’t believe I missed this challenge. So much was going on with end of the year school events, choir and graduation, and this one just slipped right on by me. I am looking forward to participating in the summer challenges. Great hop!
Author
Thank you Amber! You were missed. I figured you’d be super busy with school stuff. I remember those days. Sometimes I miss it. Hope you enjoy summer and I’m looking forward to you joining in next time. ๐
