It’s the middle of August and only one month away from the first day of fall. Can I get a hip hip? Hip hip! When I say I’ve been dreaming of fall, I mean it. I woke up this morning thinking about what I’d like to do this year. My goal is to use what I already have but create a slightly different look than years past. This year with our new darker green kitchen walls, I think moody shades are in my future. With that in mind, here are 6 Autumn color combinations you should try!
6 Autumn Color Combinations You Should Try
Do you go out and buy what’s new or trendy for each season? I do not. However, I do like knowing what’s popular and sometimes, depending on how fabulous it is, I’ll get a little something to mix in with what I already have. That’s how I stay all hip and stylish. LOL! Yeah, right.

The first color combo for this harvest season is the above rust and navy. The rust can also be copper and the navy can go a little lighter. I see these colors working with all decor styles but I think it’s more current than the distinctive pumpkin orange. I like it! Kirkland’s has several decor pieces in these colors if you are looking to change things up. And check out this candle from Hobby Lobby and these adorable bottle brush trees from Target! Sit them on a navy book or next to a blue lamp and viola! You’ve got it going on!

This group is right up my alley this year and will work great with our home. It incorporates classis fall color so I’ll be able to use a lot of what is already in my bins. You’ll see a lot of olive green and bright golds or wheat colors this season. Pottery Barn has several stunning accessories like candle holders, and placemats to pull this together.

Here’s the typical orange we all see in fall. But look at the soft gray greens that work well with it! I usually don’t mix bright strong colors with softer tones but this is unique. Give it a try! I found these pillows on Amazon in those pretty colors.

Now this seasonal combo isn’t something you see every day! Can you imagine this combination being in a vintage or romantic Victorian style home? Amazon also has these fall stems in the deep purple that would look gorgeous if you’d like to incorporate them. I think this could be my favorite collection.

When I came across this fall photo I immediately smiled. The bright color would be so lively on those gloomy fall days. I would love to use the colors in my home if I lived in a tropical place like Florida or California. The At Home Store will have plenty of accessories for this one. Just keep scrolling through.

Last but not least, you’ll see a lot of white and creamy white mixed with the customary fall colors. But stores with this combination will show it with a lot of texture. Like these at Crate and Barrel. You could use them all the way through Thanksgiving. Target with Hearth and Hand, Ballard Designs and Crate and Barrel have other choices as well.

The crisp cool air is almost here. If only in my heart, I can feel it. Mmmm, the cool breezy 60 degrees. I can hardly wait! I think that’s my optimum temperature. The temp where my head doesn’t sweat, I’m not grumpy and I can wear cute sweaters and have a smile on my face because I’m outside doing something fall-ish. π

Cindy – thanks again for all the wonderful inspirational pictures and item leads. I too am wishing/hoping for fall to get here soon. Also – your link to the tabletop sign at Michaels just goes to the general site and not the specific item. Do you have the title of that item? Would love to see. Wishing you some pumpkin spice soon! How on earth can I choose just one? I love every single one but I think the greens and golds are my fave! At least this year π Pinned!

I went with the greens and golds this year as well. I have some olive green curtains coming today. Fingers crossed they are the same as the photo. I’ve had to return many things because the color isn’t even close. :/ Have a great weekend.
I don’t think I’ve ever been as ready for fall as I am this year. I really, really love the rust and blue color combinations. Our condo LR was in that colorway and I really enjoyed it.
Nice post with all the color combinations.

I love that one too! So bright and cheerful. Thank you Rita. BRING ON THE FALL!
You should really have fun with that gorgeous green as a backdrop this year. Love the different color combinations, especially with the burgundies.

I hope the stuff I already have will look better than it did with the ugly blue walls. I’m not a fan of orange but I was drawn to purchase a super cute tea towel from Anthropologie the other day that had the dark greens, browns and oranges. We’ll see. Fingers crossed I don’t neeeeed to go shopping. lol.
Cindy,
Love all of these color combinations….I have had color in my house for 46 years and never had a single white wall….Glad to see that my style is now back in style with vintage and cottage core and Grandma chic…..Did you do a post on your newly painted Kitchen??? I would love to see it…
Hugs,
Deb

I love that when styles come back in they seem better and improved a bit. Although there are a couple of trends I’ve lived through that I hope don’t come back. And if you would have asked me if macrame would have found its way back I would have lost that bet. LOL.
As for the kitchen, no, not yet. I’ve posted a couple of photos but not the full room. On the Lifestyle of Love hop that comes at the end of September, we are doing fall tours so it will be in that post. I guess I need to get to finishing it! π Thank you Debbie.
Thank you for this beautiful post. Pinned 4 pics. I look forward to all your posts, but autumn is my favorite.

If I didn’t get bored so quickly, I’d leave fall decor up all year round. Except Christmas. π Thank you Mary! You made my day with your sweet comment.
