5 In-Between-Seasons Decor Ideas to Try in Your Home
Howdy Folks! I met a nice lady from Chicago who had just moved into Texas last week. She asked me how long this heat would last. I put it gently and said through August, possibly September and sometimes October. The look on her face was of shock and disappointment. Then she said – well, we didn’t go outside during winter in Chicago so I guess it will be reversed for the summers here.
5 In-Between-Seasons Decor Ideas to Try in Your Home
I hadn’t heard that before but it makes perfect sense. If I’m outside it’s to go from the car to the inside of my destination and that’s it. I’m boring. My skin is still as pale as it was last December.
I’m also bored of looking at the inside of my home which got me to thinking how I wanted to decorate while we were in between seasons.
Now that most of our flag-flying holidays are over what should I do next? I can’t even think about fall while it’s scorching outside but I want a change. Have you ever wondered how to decorate in between holidays? Let’s explore that. Here are 5 in-between-seasons decor ideas to try in your home.
Making Your Living Room More Special – County Road 407
Decor Idea #1:
Add summertime fresh flowers and don’t forget the greenery. If you don’t usually add fresh flowers, now’s the time. There are so many to choose from! If you frequently have them in your home, change up the colors. Using fresh flowers is always a good idea but mix up where you place them. Maybe use several bottles instead of one large vase to hold them all. Spread the love around. Cut fresh branches from outside when the budget doesn’t allow. I do it all the time.

Decor Idea #2:
Rearrange accessories and furniture. This is probably my favorite idea. I get bored easily so I’m always moving a chair or sofa but typically leave them in the same room. Go ahead and switch out chairs or move the coffee table and use an ottoman instead. Don’t forget to move the artwork and lamps. It’s crazy how one lamp that’s been sitting on that same table for months can have a new inspiring look once it’s been substituted for another. And the large artwork on the wall is now a collage of your favorite people.

Decor Idea #3:
Simply Undecorate. Edit your decor and embrace the vacancies. Putting some things away that you see all the time will feel refreshing. Like how the house feels after you put away the Christmas decor. I actually love that time of year. To me it feels uncluttered and invigorating.

Take no shame in packing away some items you’re tired of looking at. Even if it was a gift. Remove some of those knick knacks on the bookshelves. Try removing everything smaller than a cantaloupe! I often tell friends to do this and they all say it feels freeing. And a lot less to dust.

Decor Idea #4:
If you love color and usually use bright colors like bright green or pink, go deeper like teal and orange or explore a color you haven’t tried before. Fruit is a good way to add some inexpensive color. And I bet you’d be able to transition right into fall once the time comes if you go a little darker with your colors.

Decor Idea #5:
Change the textiles around your home. The idea of a new towel and bathmat feels like my birthday. You may think that’s so minor but a new rug or different colored towels can uplift and change your mood. Even the placemats on the table can do the same. Pillow covers or bedding as well!

Whatever you decide, it doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time. And even though I mentioned 5 in-between-seasons decor ideas to try in your home, there’s no need to do all five. If in between seasons means you do nothing, that’s totally fine too. Be you and do what you want!
I love to rearrange things as well, Cindy. I also love your idea of just letting space be space! Thanks for a great post!

I use the patriotic thru 9/11.
I just move it around.
Always looking for new items
Continue with the fresh flowers, lots of watermelon, and wine.

LOL Nan! I laughed out loud when I ready lots of watermelon and wine. Love the idea of keeping your patriotic decor through 9/11 too! Moving it around is a fantastic idea. Happy Summer!
Hey, Cindy!
Such good ideas!!! I feel like I’m constantly changing things and switching out decor or putting some things away.
It’s freeing but also always gives me something to do! One place where I find the most benefit is switching out my table linen like every other week or so. It gives such a different feel!
Thanks for sharing these today!

Switching out table linens makes a huge difference to me. I try and do the same with the centerpiece because like you, it gives me something to do. And keeps me out of trouble by shopping the house and not the stores. ๐ Thank you Rachel.
These are such great ideas!!! Your home is so beautiful!!!!

Aww, thank you Emily. I appreciate you saying that. Makes my day.
Switching things around always makes me feel better about my rooms. These are some great ideas and so easy, which I love. Stay cool dear friend.

You too Marlene and thank you. We lovers of easy and switcharoo friends have to stick together. ๐
I like the idea of vacancies. I feel like I’m beginning to add too many things to my house, and not necessarily out aa decor, but storing for that next whim to change things. I need to use and recycle some stuff again like I did when I was purging. Admittedly, I get pretty attached to my ‘stuff’.
We are heading for a week’s forecast of steady twmps in the 90s, a far cry from what you’ve been experiencing and even our normal summer heat. We have had so much rain, it feels like we live in a rain forest, being surrounded by hills. I hope you guys see some relief sooner rather than as late as Sept or Oct.

Hmmm, I’d take the heat over rain. Well it’s not the rain I mind. It’s the cloudy gloomy days. I get down when we have too many of those in a row. Michelle at Thistle Key Lane says we’re going to have “normal” temps this weekend! Woohoo! Hope you get some sunshine!
Love these ideas so much. Cindy! Especially pairing down, shopping your home, and adding greenery. All three of those things feel like an instant refresh and I’m here for it ๐ Sending you lots of hugs sweet friend – stay cool, CoCo

I was talking about you today with a friend that’s going to spend a week in FL soon. I said I wish I could visit CoCo! We’d have so much fun. Inside of course – only inside these days. ๐
Fresh flowers are always the vibe!

And girl, you are the queen of that vibe! Do you have your own florist shop? If not, you totally need one!
What a fun post and I love the green branches in the bottles. So simple and pretty Cindy!

Thanks Michelle. I love me some cheap and easy decor. Especially when I snip and steal if from a neighbors encroaching bush. LOL!
Cindy,
I love all your tips and I’ll share a link on my Sunday Dirt Road Adventures.
