Happy Fall Y’all! Today is Pinterest Challenge Day. That means my blogger friends and I want to show how you can change one photo found on Pinterest to fit in with your own style. If you are coming over from Everyday Edits, howdy! I’m so glad you’re visiting! Let’s get started with my 3 Simple Thanksgiving Place Setting Ideas and Pinterest Challenge because there’s a lot to see.
3 Simple Thanksgiving Place Setting Ideas and Pinterest Challenge
Here is the inspiration photo by Lindsey Brunk. It’s Thanksgiving with simple elegance and I find it beautiful. I love the dark colored table cloth, the copper flatware, the stems as a centerpiece and the thankful tag to help us remember why we are gathered together (not that we need reminding). As a matter of fact, if anyone were to describe my style or how we roll in this family, it would not be elegant. π We are a fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants-no-plan-set-in-stone-casual-family. So you know I’m going easy peasy around here.
As much as I find this beautiful, my first problem is that I do not have copper flatware. I spent a half day looking for some but had no luck. It just wasn’t meant to be. So I decided to show how to incorporate the same elements by not using the same elements. Make sense? Clear as mud? LOL. Here we go!
Simple Idea #1
The decision to use placemats instead of a table cloth was easy when I found these navy and black mats. It’s almost the same color as the tablecloth but it has the casualness our family is used too plus if I set an elegant Thanksgiving table like Lindsey did, they’d probably ask who’s dying. Then the conversation would go downhill from there. So I’m sticking with placemats.
In the inspiration photo you don’t see the plates so I can interpret it anyway I’d like. I chose to use white plates instead of a white napkin and the copper from the flatware is in the polka dotted napkins and syrup. Syrup makes for a fun gift or if we decide to have a pancake breakfast on Thanksgiving day, we each have our own! I can here it now… Awe, thanks mom, you’re the best. π
What I notice most about Lindsey’s photo is the Thankful tag. To incorporate that element is a hand written tag, but it’s also written in a copper colored marker too.
Simple Idea # 2
I kept the same dark placemats and the white plates were used again in lieu of the white napkin in the inspiration photo. The copper color comes in with a piece of paper that was slipped into the sewn on tag on the burlap utensil holder. It would be fun to use these as place cards as well don’t you think? Those little cuties came from Home Goods.
Simple Idea #3
What if you don’t really like copper or your dining room decor doesn’t look that good with copper, or maybe you just prefer gold? That’s me! Since I have mustard colored accents in the family room and around the house, I chose to pull in a mustard yellow/gold color instead of using copper.
The dark place mat and napkin work so well together. I found the white pumpkins at Home Goods too. Hello – it’s definitely meant to be since they already have the correctly themed word, right?! I’m sure once our guests have gone home for the day, each one will think of me and be so thankful I cooked, filled their bellies and gave them the cutest little candles. Okay, maybe not the cooking part but yes on the cute candle for sure.
Well that’s the 3 Simple Thanksgiving Place Setting Ideas and Pinterest Challenge. I hope you were able to see how easy it was to change one photo into 3 different ideas. Just remember, putting your own spin on things makes it unique and special. You don’t have to completely copy it unless you want too.
Now it’s time to head over to A Stroll Thru Life and see how Ms. Marty interpreted the Pinterest challenge photo. Don’t forget to click back here to see the others too!
I love all three of your Thanksgiving table ideas, Cindy!!! Thank you for being our fearless host yet again for this month’s Pinterest Challenge. <3 Beautiful tablescapes, all!!! Will be back by later to really read.

You are so sweet Barbara, thank you!
π Three great ideas and I love the little Thankful candles!!!
Author
Thanks! Found those at Home Goods Barbara. Bet you could find more if you hurry!
I LOVE it all! The second style truly captures my eye. But what I really NEED are those wee log cabins. Where on earth did your mother find them????
Thank you for organizing!

Thank you Laura. I found the little log cabin syrups at Home Goods. I’ll be the first to say, I have never purchased food from there. Seems weird and what goes through my mind is that I think I saw it last year too so… Not going to happen. But I couldn’t pass up the little cabins. π
HI cindy, Stopping by the PInterest Challenge. I love the stacked white/cream plates and the utensil pockets! Love that! Thank you for the invite! laura

It’s hard to tell but the plates have a bark pattern on them. I love them too but they didn’t have enough for me to get an entire set. Boo hoo. Happy Fall!
Cindy,
Love all of your takes. The individual syrup would be so cute especially for breakfast or brunch.
My favorite is the utensil holder with the tag. Great ideas.

Hi Cindy, I loved those utensil holders too but they leave fuzzies everywhere. Guess the maker didn’t think of that. :/
Adorable. Those syrup bottles are just too cute. Thanks for pulling this together. It was a ton of fun.

I’m so glad you could join us Katie, especially after all of your wonderful travels! Found the syrup at Home Goods of all places.
I love all three of your place setting ideas. Since I just was in Vermont, the syrup idea really spoke to me. The cabin syrup bottles are so cute as is your Thankful tag. What a clever table favor that can actually be enjoyed, not just stuck in a drawer somewhere.
The burlap silverware pocket with the Thankful tag is also so attractive. You are going to really enjoy using these for any occasion. I don’t have a Home Goods near me which probably is a good thing. I see so many great finds from Home Goods on blogs. If I had one, I know I’d go overboard buying.
Your last idea with the gold napkin and pretty Home Goods Thankful pumpkin is another great look.
Thanks for organizing this challenge! It’s so much fun each month to see what everyone comes up with.

Thank you and I think it’s fun too Paula. So many great ideas in one little place. You are correct on the Home Goods as well. I think we all spend a lot of money there. It’s like a disease that I don’t care to get rid of but need some cream to calm down a little. The only thing that deters me from buying out the entire store is the super long line you have to wait in to check out. That’s no fun.
I love the idea of the syrup, what a great gift or surprise if you have pancakes. Beautiful table. The mustard color with the pumpkin on each plate is also really pretty. I am sure your family and friends would feel honored to sit at either table.
Author
Thank you Marty. They better feel honored. I find table place settings tedious and difficult. I keep thinking dust is getting on them and feel the need to clean and clean again!
Great place setting ideas Cindy. I love the idea of the syrup to enhance the place setting and as a little gift. And it adds color. I also liked how you angled the salad plate on the dinner plate. Makes it really interesting. Thanks again for hosting and making us challenge our creative brains.

LOL – I agree. These challenges are a brain teaser sometimes. I think the little syrup bottles are my fave. Thank you Carol.
I am loving that burlap utensil pocket idea, Cindy! Totally want to DIY some of those;) I like your simplified versions; much more family friendly! Thanks for organizing, lady! Your humor always gets me smiling:)
Author
Thank you Lora B. I like saying that. π If you do DIY the utensil holder, choose your burlap well! These little things leave fuzzies everywhere and unpleasant to see on a white plate. Could be extra fiber when you accidentally eat them but yuck! LOL.
Love all 3 of your inspiration. The little log cabin is adorable. I love the mustard with the navy. Such a beautiful color combo. Thanks for hosting the challenge. It’s always fun working with you.
Author
Thank you Terrie. I like trying new and different things. Keeps me on my toes I suppose.
I love the three ideas you give for a table setting… and your jokes always make me giggle! (the conversation would go downhill from there!) Thanks for putting this together, my friend! Love doing the Pinterest Challenge!

Our family life and conversations around here are one big joke Julie! We are always saying that if a stranger could overhear us they’d think we were horrible to each other. LOL. Glad you liked the ideas. Enjoy your fall!
Cindy, you never fail to entertain and delight with your Pinterest Challenge posts! I cackled when I read the part about your family asking who’s dying! I really love the mustard napkins and candle pumpkin as well as that burlap utensil holder.
That single-serve syrup idea is also GENIUS…where in the world did you find those little vessels you used? That would make a great party favor! Love me some Home Goods, too.
Thanks for organizing a great hop with a wonderful group of ladies!
Author
I’m a genius? Well thanks Crissy – I’ll take it! And since you love you some Home Goods, you better get over there fast. That’s where I got the little log cabin syrups! I wasn’t kidding about asking who died either. I can hear my oldest saying that right now. π
I love all of these, but I think the second idea is my favorite! I love those little syrup bottles, though.
Author
Thank you Michelle. It’s hard for me to choose. I think the log cabin syrup bottles and polka dotted napkins are my fave though. It’s something I don’t usually gravitate towards.
Cute ideas for my fall table. Thanks for sharing!! Happy day!

It’s crazy how many different ideas people can come up with for a fall place setting. Happy Fall KariAnne!
Loved all three. Great ideas to make it pretty but keep it simple for the holidays. TFS
Author
Thank you Clearissa. Simple is how we roll around here when it comes to entertaining. Honestly, my family would be fine with paper plates! :0
Your trio of ideas is indeed, the same, but different. Those candles and syrups are cute.
I saw your mom recently. She said sheβs going to be at Disney World this year, but she knows there really is no place on earth happier than your dinner table on Thanksgiving. I could tell she meant it. π
Author
Thanks Mommy Dearest. Weβll miss yβall this year. Have fun at DW!
All of these ideas are just so pretty! I particularly love the white pumpkin with the gold script. Giving a gift at the place setting is always fun!
Author
Thank you Christy. I think hostess gifts or party favors are a must. I wonder if that’s a southern thing? π
Thank you for sharing at #OverTheMoon. Pinned and shared. Have a lovely week. I hope to see you at next weekβs party too!

Thank you Marilyn!
Love all your “keeping it simple” place settings but I’m dying over that log cabin syrup bottle! So adorable Cindy!
Author
Thank you Michelle. Found those little log cabins at Home Goods if you’d like to dig around in their large weird food item section. π
Cindy, these are all such cute ideas! Those little syrup bottles are absolutely adorable!! You are so creative! This was such a fun Pinterest challenge! Thank you so much for hosting!!

All of your ideas are great Cindy! I adore those little syrups as favors. I’m borrowing that idea for sure!
Great challenge posts!

Thanks bunches Amber! Aren’t favors fun? I know I love getting them so why not give them too?! Happy Thanksgiving!
All so beautiful! Did you make the burlap utensil holder or did you buy it?
Author
Thank you Faye. The utensil holders were purchased at Home Goods but I saw them online last year on Etsy and I know they’d be super easy to make if you’d like to give it a try?!
