2021 Popular Autumn Colors and the easiest way to get it
Spread the love

Hello my friends!  I know August just started and here in Texas it will be so dry the trees will be bribing the dogs but as each day passes, it’s bringing us closer to cooler days, colored leaves and apple cobbler season!  Yep, autumn is just around the corner.  With that excitement, I thought you’d like to know the 2021 popular autumn colors and the easiest way to get it!

2021 Popular Autumn Colors and The Easiest Way To Get It!

This year designers have chosen to stick with classic fall colors in 2021.  Like deep gold, orange, rust, deep greens and dark browns.  Yay for us who like them.  But they’ve also mixed things up and enticed us with something a little more peaceful.  The trend this season is taking those same powerful colors and hazing them a bit.  For example, take the typical bright gold color like mustard or the blazing yellow maple leaf and tone it down to a color similar to straw or old corn stalks.  Or consider bright orange pumpkins dampened to a soft coral like an adobe house or faded terracotta pot.

There are oodles of ways to incorporate these colors into your autumn palette but today we are going to chat about the simplest way – texture!  You can see texture in all sorts of things.  Things like furniture, blankets, rugs, curtains, baskets, placemats, old books, lamps, candlesticks, crates, pumpkins and foliage just to name a few.

Think about the feeling you get when sitting in a comfy chair, putting on an old flannel shirt or cuddling up with a blanket out by the firepit.  It feels cozy and gives you a warm feeling.  That’s what texture can do!

In the photo above, you can see a lot of texture.  Besides the obvious blanket and pillows, can you tell the textures are the logs inside the fireplace, the vase on the hearth at the right, the branches and the wood side tables next to the chair?  I love this room.  It seems perfect for fall with it’s inviting color and subtle attitude.

We can’t forget about fall foliage!  What is the first thing you think about when you reminisce of fall?  Is it the cooler weather, the gathering of family around the table or maybe the turning of leaves?  For me, it’s all about the leaves.  So whether you want (or need) faux or real stems and bundles, this is where you can bring the outdoors in, get some texture and get a true seasonal feeling in the house.

Try stems in a vase or pitcher, gathered and hanging off of a mantel, bundled in between or around pumpkins or hanging down from a light light fixture.  They can all be beautiful!

So after seeing the 2021 popular autumn colors and the easiest way to get it, do you like them?  I’m actually glad designers decided to keep to the classic colors.  And even though I like this years muted colors, the tried and true gives me the fall feels.  Oh and black, I think we could all use a little black in every room.  πŸ˜‰

What about you?  What colors make you happy during the fall season?

Been looking for some material to sew me a few Fall pillows and they are muted and very natural. I’ve always loved the leaves in the Fall and all the beautiful colors. Thanks Cindy for the examples and have a happy day!

I really want to sew a couple of fall pillows. I found some gorgeous covers online but they were out of the size I needed. Hopefully when I get to the fabric store, I find something awesome. I’m usually disappointed when I have a plan in my head already. Trying to be more optimistic this time. πŸ˜‰

I love that the colors are hazed down for fall. I love muted shades.

There are so many beautiful shades to choose from! I remember you had a beautiful fall porch one year with the same muted colors. It was fabulous!

I still haven’t decided yet what to use. I need to get my fall bins out of the attic but it’s just so hot in there!

For the first time in like forever I’m going with softer fall colors. This past summer – even though it wasn’t a conscious decision ( who am I kidding like I don’t fly by the seat of my pants on the daily) I chose super bright colors. So I”m surprised that I’m leaning toward the softer tones. At least for now… lol Love all of the inspo! Thanks for sharing.

I can’t believe my eyes! Tammy not going with bright bold colors? Are you sick or something? πŸ˜‰ I go back and forth. We’ll see what I do whenever I hose myself down, get into the attic and dig out the fall bins. Looking forward to seeing what you do!

I love your fall color roundup Cindy! I love traditional fall colors that are not super bright or overwhelming and the ones you shared are perfect!

    • August 13, 2021 / 8:51 am

So glad you liked them Michelle. I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do. I like to start with the pillows but need to dig them out. :/

Just pinned this post, Cindy! Fall is my favorite season of the entire year. I love all the deep and vibrant colors outside but I mostly use the muted colors inside. As you know I’ve been totally obsessed with pink this year so I might go rouge and decorate with pink pumpkins. We’ll see! Hugs, CoCo

That plan sounds beautiful CoCo. If you haven’t already, check out Le Cultivateur. She does the deep burgundy colors and does it so well!

Oh, I love those green pumpkins! And all the muted colors. So much great inspiration here. I’m hanging onto summer for as long as possible, but β€” with your help β€” I’ll be ready for fall when it’s here!

We don’t get much of a fall here in Texas so I think once the first teeny tiny bit of cool weather gets here, I’m bribing someone to get in the attic for the fall decor bins. Autumn is my favorite time of year and I want to surround myself in it for as along as possible.
