Hello sweet friends! I decided to reshare this post because I have a lot of new subscribers, it’s a good spring inspo post and because Pinterest tells me it’s super popular. So, if you missed it the first time, here you go again. At the bottom of the page you’ll see some of my blog friends sharing green ideas too. No, not how to live green. The hop is called Sharin’ O’ the Green hosted by my friend Amber at Follow the Yellow Brick Home. So make sure and click on the links below to enjoy the fun. My contribution is how I use greenery balls in my decor. Let’s get started!
How I Use Greenery Balls In My Decor
I’m going to show you several different ways I use the faux greenery balls in decor. I think they make any vignette, tablescape or grouping look soft yet energetic. Kinda like me! LOL
Try them on candlesticks
Instead of using candles, I like placing them on candlesticks. It looks festive during spring, summer and even Christmas time when tied with a red bow. Just make sure they don’t look top heavy or the opposite – too small. Grouping several together with different colors of greenery make a nice statement as well. If you noticed the Eucalyptus wreath in the back, you can see that DIY Wreath Holder by clicking here.
Use them in a tray vignette
See how using the balls at different heights adds “filler” to the otherwise empty spaces in this tray vignette? It softens the hard edges and brightens it up. Makes the look cozy too.
Place them under a cloche
You’ve heard me say this before – everything under a cloche seems more substantial. Whether or not it’s something that costs a lot of money or something you found at the dollar store. It’s just cuter and it can’t get much easier than this! If you’d like to see the DIY for this Chicken Wire Cloche from a lamp shade, click here!
Hang one or more from a chandelier
It’s easy to tie string or ribbon around the balls and hang them from a chandelier. You could also add different sized greenery balls and hang them unevenly for a different look. Especially if your light fixture hangs high above your table. Poking small flowers inside the single ball would look great too. How cute would that be for a ladies luncheon or baby shower?!
Put them in clay pots
I like the faux moss balls too. Plopping them in a clay pot is super easy. You can also place several in a bowl, a basket or in a tall clear vase. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
This one below was an ugly pot on the inside but hard to get rid of because pots come in so handy. Adding an extra ball covers up the ugly and nicely finishes off this table vignette.
All of these ideas are simple because you can find inexpensive greenery almost anywhere. And it really helps those of us with rotten brown thumbs that have a hard time growing the real deal. We could all use some freshness in our lives and this does it for me.
I’ve made my own topiaries before using faux stems and real tree twigs. They aren’t exactly balls but very easy to make and they look great just about anywhere, just like greenery balls. If you’d like to make one or five like I did, click here for that Topiary DIY.

Cute vignettes. I have a few greenery balls. I need to pull them out. I love the sweet cow and the coffee table display. Adorable.

It’s amazing how much greenery balls brighten up a space. All of your ideas are good and now I’m inspired to find my moss balls and use them to decorate a few areas at my house.
Author
Yes Paula, go dig them out! I have enjoyed finding new ways to use them. I’m excited they aren’t “out of style” and will be sad if they ever do!
Cindy, great ideas. Green balls are so versatile in home decor. A few years ago, I made some with styrofoam but they have now seen better days. I bought some boxwood balls at Joann’s a couple of weeks ago and these are definitely great ideas. Good to hopping with you, girlfriend.
Author
I forget about JoAnn’s. There’s a Tuesday Morning next door to them. Wouldn’t hurt to make an afternoon run over there. 😉 Always enjoy hopping with you too Carol. Thanks for the visit!
Fabulous ideas Cindy! The green spheres look so great with your farmhouse decor. Your styled tray vignette is awesome! I also love the moss ball topping the tall clay pot!

So much inspiration here! Beautiful photos! I love adding green to my home. I need to find all of my green moss balls . I can’t keep real plants alive so faux it is!

Thanks you Jennifer. I’ve tried so many times to keep real plants alive. I’ve even killed a cactus! Faker than fake it is for me too! 😂
Author
Thank you! I may be looking for more. 😬. Glad you enjoyed the hop Jennifer.
Well, I’ll tell Steve it’s your fault when I spend to much money shopping today because I need some greenery balls in my life.

Greenery balls are so perfect to bring in spring. I used a few of them and you have given me so many more ideas, I need more!!! Really pretty!
Author
Is it terrible if I use all of the ideas at the same time and still want more? It may look like a jungle around here. But I admit to nothing! Thanks Kristin for the visit.
Cindy, I love all of these ideas. I need to incorporate more greenery in my decor. Thank you for the inspiration! Hugs!
Author
We all need more of something in our lives, right?! Might as well be something that doesn’t cost much money! Just kidding. Jesus comes to mind first. 😉 Glad you liked the ideas. Thank you Benita!
I love your ideas and your vignettes. I have a lot of greenery but none are balls. I will have to pic up a few. TFS
Author
I find my greenery balls and half balls at Hobby Lobby. Since you can get them 40-50% off at all times, it’s totally worth it! Have fun and thanks for the visit!
Cindy I love all your ideas on using the greenery balls. Love your style.
Author
You like my “eclectic” the-girl-is-all-over-the-place style? LOL. I’ll take it. Thank you Terrie!
Everything looks just lovely! Green used to be my least favorite color, but over time I’ve learned to really like it in decorating. I don’t wear much green though, except on St. Pat’s Day…just doesn’t look good on me!!! Thanks for all the wonderful green ideas.
Author
Glad you liked them Cheri. I don’t wear green that often either. I feel like I’m screaming at people with it on! It’s a pretty color on most. I used to decorate with sage green a while back but I’m over it. The greenery balls don’t count though. 😂
How beautiful! Great ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Author
Thank you Maristella! Beautiful name btw. I enjoy figuring out ways to use them. Thanks for the visit!
I have a few smaller ones that I’ve used atop candleholders but I bought huge ones for outside in two large urns that I have. I used a slim pole to secure them into the dirt that was already in it to keep them from blowing away in breezes and I add long stems of branches, long stemmed silk flowers, etc. Right now, I have a Valentine’s theme, with the green ball, tall red flowers, willows and a sweet white Valentine frame that I found years ago hanging on one of the branches. Subtle, but sweet. I really have to buy more. Thanks for the post. Oh, I always have my dining room table set to match the season and I use the balls in the saucers at the place setting.
Author
Wow Eileen those large urns sound aaaahhhhmazing! And I’ve never tried putting the balls on the saucers. I’m definitely going to do that. I love a spring table. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful ideas! Love it. 🙂
This post brings me great memories. Certainly of this article before. Mostly of the fabulous topiary balls we made when you were hosting ladies night at Birchman. Thanks!
Author
I’d forgotten all about making topiaries at BBC. Goodness, I’d forgotten about being the Ladies Director! Good times, good times.
Is there a website I can use to buy the greenery balls! Thanks
Author
Amazon has several you can order. Michaels and Hobby Lobby carry them as well. I believe you can order online at Michael’s but good luck finding anything on the HObby Lobby site. It’s terrible. You’re better off doing that in person. Hope that helps Trish. Have a great week.
