Spread the love

Hello Sweet Friends!  Are you visiting from Lindsay’s blog, My Creative Days?  If so, thank you!  I’m happy you’re here.  This week I’m joining the Christmas Festival Blog Hop hosted by my friend Kendra at Joy In Our Home!  Each day has different Christmas ideas.  My contribution is a farmhouse inspired DIY wreath holder.  You’ll want to check back each day to enjoy the other festivities.  I promise you don’t want to miss it!

FARMHOUSE INSPIRED DIY WREATH HOLDER

Let’s get started with my easy to make wreath holder.  Actually, it has many uses!  Let me show you.

Supplies needed for a farmhouse inspired DIY wreath holder by CountyRoad407.com

Supplies:

1 – 2 x 2 wooden piece at 16″ long

A wooden fence post topper for base

1 – 1 x 5″ wood piece for base

A vintage salad fork for hanger

1 – 1/2″ screw and 1 – 3″ screw to hold it all together

1 – drawer pull or knob of choice for accent topper

Rustoleum Chalked paint in Linen White or color of choice

Sponge brush and hot glue

A drill to make the holes

Steps:

You’ll want to paint your pieces of wood first and let them dry about 2 hours depending on your humidity level.  I used the Rustoleum Chalked Paint (affiliate link) I had left over from the dining room table (you can see that here) and still absolutely LOVE it!  It goes on smooth and looks great with only 2 coats.

Next drill the holes just slightly smaller than the width of your screws.  That’s to hold them in.  Hint:  Use a ruler or something with a straight edge and make a small “X” in the middle of the wood pieces by drawing a line from corner to corner.  That mark puts you right in the middle for your holes.

Next you’ll put the largest wood piece on the bottom, then screw it to the fence post topper then to the post using the 3″ screw.  After it was put together the Mister bent the handle of the fork using his muscles.  LOL – just kidding!  He used a circular pole (dowel) and then his muscles.  He said a vice would have been easier.

Using the gap in the middle of the tongs, you’ll use the 1/2″ screw to secure the fork to the top of the post for the “hanger”.  Then simply add a bit of hot glue inside the hole and quickly push the screw end of the knob  (affiliate link) into the hole on top of the pole for a cute finish.

Voila!

You can use a wreath holder by adding extra hooks for a cute farmhouse inspired project. CountyRoad407.com

If you added extra forks, you could use it to hold coffee cups for an adorable coffee station!  I might make another just for that purpose – So cute!

DIY farmhouse inspired wreath holder makes a great towel holder too! By CountyRoad407.com

We’ve always hung the towel on the dishwasher handle but this is going to be my new hook!  I’m sure there are more possibilities for this wreath holder.

What do you think?  What will you do with yours?

This is a great idea! I plan to make a mug holder based on this idea. I had been racking my brain for something unique to hold the mugs we use daily. Love the wreath idea as well as the hint on using it to hold a dish towel. Will be making extra to use or give as gifts. Many thanks!

This was a wonderful comment to wake up to this morning! Thank you! I plan to make a couple more myself. Hmmm, I think so need to make them look slightly different so I don’t look like a hoarder! 😂. Enjoyed the hop with you as well. Merry Christmas

  17. December 9, 2018 / 3:47 pm

This is fabulous! I love it as a wreath holder for something different but it looks super cute as a towel holder too!

    • December 9, 2018 / 3:54 pm

Thanks Kristen! The towel holder has been my favorite. I think the plan is to make one for cups soon. That might turn into my new fave. I think I’ll use spoons on that one. 😀
