Hello friends! Do you remember last year when I mentioned that the year before that our tree fell over – TWICE? I fully intended to gather new ornaments at the after-Christmas-day sales. Well that didn’t happen so I’m stuck with decorating our tree again this year and being a little disgruntled. I collected a few more vintage cups so there’s that (insert half grin). Honestly, if it were up to me, I’d forego the tree altogether but the kids expect a tree when they come home. And since I signed up to be in a Christmas Tree blog hop before I remembered I hadn’t shopped last year, I have to hesitantly show it.
A Christmas tree without charisma
I know I’m hard on myself and I should probably change the name to Cynical Cindy’s Completely Eclectic Tree. That would be a better description. Side note and Update: When the tree was pulled out of the box this year the flocking was still on it and barely any white residue/powder was left in the box! If you want to see the super easy process for flocking your own tree, click here.
I should have gone a few weeks ago and purchased new ornaments and made it beautiful like the departments store trees or the trees you’ll see at the bottom of this post, but that isn’t me. I don’t pay full price for anything and I can’t buy everything from Hobby Lobby. Although, the biggest factor is that I can’t make up my mind on a theme. So many lovely friends have themes for their trees.
As I put it together with what ornaments I had, I realized something; this is absolutely my kind of Christmas tree! It’s mismatched and random with it’s horns and cranberry candle rings. It’s slightly vintage with a dash of trendy from the silverware, the creamers and pom pom garland. It has rustic elements like the pinecones and acorns and a little glitz thrown in with the shiny mercury glass ornaments. It’s all kinds of crazy uniqueness! LOL
Next year I’ll need to take a ribbon tucking class. Do they even have those? They must. I’ve tried to get the ribbon just right and cannot do it. Side note – the pomp-a-doodle yarn is waaaay cheaper to use than the garland they offer in the Christmas section at the store. The original garland is about $2.00 a yard. Um, I don’t think so. I found this in the crocheting department and for 14 yards it cost $4.99 and I got it with a 40% off coupon! Can I get an amen?!
I also need to watch a you tube video on how to make a bow. Even though I’ve done that about a hundred times, I still can’t do that either. Not sure if it’s the video tutorials or me. I’m going with the tutorials. ๐
Still on the hunt for a nice topper but until I find the perfect piece, I’ll wait and not have anything up there.
Next year the walls WILL be painted and the tree is going to be adorable and fantastical! It may have a theme. It could whimsical or all out vintage. Either way, it will be me. So if you can stay with me for another 365 days, you can see it. Until then, check out the Christmas trees below. You’ll see so many different looks and be so inspired that you may just toss your tree and start over! ๐ Just click on the names below but don’t forget to come back Monday to check out the others!

I love your tree! It’s beautiful and represents things you’ve enjoyed collecting over time.
Author
Thank you Stacey. I like the word “collecting” and not hoarding! ๐
Your tree is lovely! It’s definitely not lacking in charisma. It’s styled beautifully.
Author
Thank you Beverly. Your comment made me smile. Merry Christmas!
Your tree is perfectly beautiful. Donโt change a thing. I like it so much better than the themed trees you see on Pinterest. It screams HOME to me! โค๏ธ
Author
Awe saying it screams HOME is so sweet of you. I needed to hear that. Thank you Peggy!
i dunno i must be crazy like you because i think your tree is gorgeous xx
Author
Well Chris, we can me crazy together. Thanks for the sweet compliment. Merry Christmas!
Your tree is absolutely beautiful!! I love it! Hugs,
Author
Hugs back to you too Sandi. Glad you stopped by and like the tree. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!
I donโt know why you are beating yourself up. Your tree is so beautiful & individual. Next year I am going to put ribbon on mine. Itโs super cheap in Costco. You got a bargain with the Pom poms. You couldnโt make them for that price.
I donโt know how mine has managed to stay up my little cat climbs up the inside & it shakes! ๐ผ๐น๐
Author
Oh no – Shirley! I have heard of cats toppling over trees. It’s terrible when it happens. I’m sure your kitty is glad it’s loved. LOL. Merry Christmas
I think your tree looks beautiful! Love the tip about the pom pom garland too.
Author
Sue, you can find that pom pom “garland” almost anywhere they sell crocheting supplies. It really sticks to the limbs so I’m not sure how hard it will be to get it off but the savings was worth it to me. Thanks for stopping by!
Beautiful. I’m with you on making bows. They never look quite right. A couple of years ago, our tree was always in danger of falling over. I went on the hunt for a different stand. At a thrift store, I found one of the really large round ones that originally made the tree revolve. Well, it did the trick (not revolving of course) and our tree has never even once thought of falling over. (even with a cat and dog)!! I’m getting ready to put our tree up and I love those pompoms so I may try and find some. Thanks!!
Author
Yeah I need to find a new base but I’m holding out for a new tree. That thing is probably 20 years old by now and takes up a lot of room. I keep saying “next year” but I mean it this time! HA! Thanks for stopping by Sharon. There’s a link in the post for the pom poms but you can find them almost anywhere they sell crocheting supplies. Have fun!
Oh my dear Cindy you so underestimate yourself and your talent. I love this tree seriously I wouldnโt change a thing oh and the silver on it was well genius (not said lightly)! Have a blessed Sunday
Author
Awe, Barbara – You make me feel 5’9″ tall! Thank you!
Cindy, you are definitely too hard on yourself! The tree is beautiful and I love the unique touches you added. The little tea pots are perfect on the tree. Thank you for the inspiration and for participating in this blog hop! Merry Christmas!
Author
Sweet Michelle, thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it very much and enjoyed participating. I’m looking forward to yours and all of tomorrows group! Merry Christmas.
This tree is so you, Cindy Lou Whoo. It’s adorable and elegant and quirky and beautiful!
Author
Thank you dear bestie. You know me for sure. Miss you!
You are too hard on yourself. I love your tree not only because it’s beautiful, but because it means so much to you. While I was decorating my tree for the blog hop I kept thinking that I really should bring back all the ornaments that my kids made and special items that mean so much to me rather than get caught up in having the new and trendy. Thanks for helping me remember to do just that next year.
Author
That’s so sweet of you to say Dru. Thank you! I go back and forth – I want the new trendy tree like with buffalo check and I desire to have the vintage looking meaningful-to-me tree. Who knows what next year holds! Thanks for popping over.
Your tree is gorgeous, stop thinking it isn’t up to snuff! I totally fell in love with the handled silver vessel and the silver fork! If I didn’t have one of the pencil trees, I’d be copying you! It’s wonderful and you should be so proud that you don’t cave when you want to find the deals! You step forward girl and own it!
Author
Sandi, you made me laugh out loud! Okay, I’m owning it! Look at this tree people. It’s magnificent! ๐ Thanks for the smile and the ego boost!
Don’t beat up yourself over this tree. It is my kind of tree covered in memories from years gone buy. I have one wooden star from Sweden which was sent to me probably 30 or 40 years ago.. There were five but only one left! The children will love your tree and will look for the treasures they saw last year.
Author
That makes my heart smile Nancy, thank you. Hope you have a great week!
I think you could call it the “Stick A Fork In Me I’m Done!” tree. That pop right in my mind when I saw the silver fork hanging there. ๐
Seriously, I love your tree with the white and black.
Author
That made me laugh! And it’s a great title for this tree and how I feel. LOL. Thanks for visiting. Merry Christmas
Your tree is stunning. Don’t change a thing! I totally understand starting over with ornaments. I had to do that after the flood of ’94 and consider myself to still be trying. LOL My hubby probably thinks I have achieved enough. There is no way I could possibly bring myself to pay full price for ornaments! So glad you are in the hop. I’d hate to have missed your gorgeous tree.
Author
I cannot imagine having to start all over from a flood. Tell the hubby there’s no such thing as “enough”! Thanks for the sweet comment and the visit. Merry Christmas!
Cindy, youโre so funny. I think your tree looks beautiful, with or without a topper. Share over at Happiness is Homemade.
Author
Will do and thanks for the topper affirmation! I needed that. Have a great week Carol!
Flocked trees are my weakness, but alas, I don’t have one! I love your tree and I don’t think there is anything ordinary about it at all. It is special and has so many gorgeous and special ornaments on it. The silver fork, the silver cup, perfect! I do something different with my ribbon on my trees every year. This year I decided to cut my ribbon in short pieces and tuck it in, I like it better than any of the other ways I have done it. I have a couple of bow-tying video tutorials on my Facebook page if you want to take a look!
Author
Oh Chloe, YES! I want to see that video. My ribbon is in 36โ pieces tucked here and there because all of the other ways Iโve tried have been total fails. ๐. Thanks for the visit and the encouragement! โค๏ธ
We all stress over the sillies thing, including decorating for the holidays. Its exponentially worse when your blogging. Your tree is wonderful, its so sparkly and bright and joyous.
Author
How true that is! Why do I drive myself crazy?. Glad you stopped by. It was exactly what I needed to see when I woke this morning! Thank you
Wow, flock trees are my favorite, you did a fabulous job.
Maria
Author
Thank you Maria. That was the easiest thing to do to that tree! Have a great week.
I know i am not a blogger so i don’t have to worry about the whole world seeing it but, i have never seen an ugly tree and isn’t it suppose to be the season of love and giving so, if that is the tree you gave us to see should we not see the love in it. It is a beauty thank you Cindy.
Author
You are exactly right Marlene. This season is about Jesus and I shouldn’t be worrying about whether or not my tree is ugly or pretty. I should be concentrating on the fact that Christ came to this earth to save us and be glorified. Thank you for the reminder. Big hugs!
I love your tree. It has a beautiful shape and the decorations are so pretty. I love flocked trees but just can’t go out and buy one since I have 9 already. One I just flocked myself but it’s not the true flocking and the other tree I use flocked picks. A Christmas tree is beautiful regardless what style it is. Even Charlie Brown’s tree was pretty to me. ha!
Author
Nine trees?! Oh my goodness! As wonderful as that sounds, I canโt imagine decorating all of them. I can barely keep up with two! Glad you enjoyed the tree even though Iโm not sure how legit your compliment is if you thought the Charlie Brown tree was pretty! LOL. Just kidding! Iโll take all the compliments I can get. Merry Christmas Terrie!
I think your tree looks gorgeous! All of the eclectic ornaments are beautiful, and I love the vintage cups ๐
Author
Thanks Wanda! They are my favorite too. Well and the silverware. LOL.
I think your tree looks lovely! I want to flock my tree, so I hopped over to your other post too ๐ I may do that next year. BTW- I’m not one to spend a ton on ornaments just to decorate a tree and I think it takes time to invest in things your really like. So I think your tree is perfectly filled with ornaments ๐
Author
Awe. Erlene, Thanks! I needed to hear that confirmation! Hope you try the flocking. Itโs sooooo easy! And you can pile it on as thick as you want and it will look great! Merry Christmas
I like the vintage feel that your tree has! I feel like coming up with a tree theme is hard! lol I tend to bounce back and forth!
Author
Thanks Jaclyn. Who knows what next years tree will look like. Maybe Iโll get lucky after Christmas and find some really fab ornaments! ๐
Cindy you are too hard on yourself. This tree is stunning and you did not have to break the bank to make it this gorgeous. You need a boost of confidence in your creation and I hope all these comments give you that.
Author
Thanks Michelle. All the comments have been awesome! Merry Christmas
Haha! I think we need to find someone to teach a ribbon tucking class! I feel the EXACT same way! Beautiful tree!!
Author
Let’s find one! Or we can start the Suffering Ribbon Tuckers support group?! Thanks for the visit. ๐
I LOVE your tree! I thought that you had styled it like that with a theme until I read that you couldn’t decide on one. So no one would ever guess that. I have trouble with bows, so I finally gave up and bought a bow maker. Same as you with ribbon – I’ve watched many tutorials, but mine just never looks right unless I cut it into shorter pieces and tuck it. Love your garland; I’ll have to check that out for next year. Merry Christmas!
Author
Greta, we sound like the same family peas in a pod. Do you like your bow maker? Iโve seen mixed reviews but am willing to give it a try if you say itโs worth it. Thanks for the sweet compliments.
